So THAT'S how movie Starscream transforms. This is the first time I've ever understood the actual conversion. Now I have a dream where they'll make an F-22 Starscream that actually resembles G1 Starscream in robot mode.
Look up "IDW Transformers: Devastation Starscream" Nick Roche did just that with the design, and I think the comic was actually released a few months before the movie.
An F-22 is kinda just a stealth F-15 in terms of general profile so that could work.
well, not exactly. Although the masterpiece figures are made to transform exactly like those from the movie, the actual conversion isn't 100% accurate, if it is at all. So yeah you can't just base the actual conversation on the toys as it can be a whole lot different than the actual film itself.

Michael Bay's Starscream looks like a giant metal cockroach , the jet mode is nice though.

he's literally the same throughout the movies, with the only difference being the paint job.
Not gonna lie, this was one design that eventually grew on me.
looks like a hellish robotic butterfly, not to mention the chunky plane mode that defies all books of aerodynamics. that being said, the engineering to make the nonsensical designs of the movies into actual toys is insane, i can't stress it enough. love the video, keep it up!
For all the years while watching all the transformers movies... i still cant stop wondering why the autobots didnt choose to be aireal vehicles like planes or helicopters. Like c'mon! That's why the decepticons have an advantage! They can fly!
in the movie canon there are many autobots who can fly. However they were not shown in the movies, only in books, comics and games, with the exception of jetfire. I wished breakaway made it into the movie, he had such a cool design!
Aloy Perez my question goes even deeper: why did they choose civil vehicles such as trailer truck, sport car, van or pickup, but not military ones such as tanks, armed transporters, armed helicopters, missile trucks, etc. ------ they are born to fight, no?!

The autobots are more views as a peace keepers n such.
The deceptions view as Barbaric and Destruction.
Military Vehicles Resemble Destruction wich it fits the Decepticon description.
Civilian Vehicles resemble Peace so, it fits the description.
@boom8244 my headcanon borrows from some bayverse/G1 lore that Autobots are born/made as more civilian/admin leaning bots while Decepticons are essentially born to act as Cybertron's defense force. Alt-modes are based off role in society, actual job, and occasionally personal preference.
People hating on bays starscream can hold my nuts. Dude always looked sick af as opposed to other series where all the transformers are way too simple and humanoid looking, especially Megatron god g1 Megatron is hideous. I also really like transformers prime starscream especially when he has the dark energon aura and eyes, always liked his spindly design. Steve Blum did an amazing job voicing him as well

I am continually amazed at how grotesque the Michael Bay versions are. I'm hopeful that the Bumblebee movie is a sign things are shifting in the right direction.

@@mechanwhal6590 they are a very mixed bag for me. The new ones from Dark of the Moon until Last Knight look too human for me.
There are a few exceptions (such as starscream's head) but on the whole the older bayformers do have a nice design IMO.
His robot-mode is awesome.

That jet mode under carriage is fugly. Why can't transformers that transform into planes ever take some queues from Macross. Hell, the G1 Jetfire toy literally was a repaint of a VF1 Valkyrie toy.

I find it so hard to believe that after all the advances in transforming technology, that the best way for a jet alt mode is to have a robot on the bottom
Ok im finally gonna say something. Yes we have technology and yes this transformer it aint perfect but most g1 starscreams have the same issue. Its just him laying flat with his arms either on his side or bent in a way. We are not gonna get flat jetformers for a while. I wanna see you design a transforming jet transformer with our "technology " and see how far you get without it having a massive undercarriage.

It looks cleaner than I thought it would be, but those ball-jointed shoulder apertures look no fun to handle mid transformation, with that and lacking jet mode, I'd say fans have the right to be annoyed. This is Supposed to be a Masterpiece, yet it feels like a Studio Series upscale. It has some great kibble management, but as a whole it's disappointing.
I really like this a lot its just that wide shoulders really annoys me.

Without false nostalia, I prefer the F-15 version and I'm sure most people also prefer it. The film versions were not very happy in their visual design, bringing creatures of unintelligible appearance and not attractive.

However, one thing needs to be said: if Starscream had to opt for a fighter still in production to transform, it would still be the F-15, because it has been 10 years since the F-22 line was closed... What a situation, isn't it?
