As one who has experienced this inner light, I am saddened when Jesus gets squeezed in between man and the Light. I suppose at the time he couldn’t also say, we don’t need a third when all is One
It appears to me that Quakerism is changing, but I'm not as well-versed in Quakerism as many others. I believe more in a relationship with God as opposed to being in a "religion".
Fox, surely a man of the Lord, died at the age of 66 years and 6 months (the devil's age, no less) on (Tuesday) 1/23/1691 (anyone who claims he died on January 13, 1690 doesn't understand the Julian/Gregorian calendar discrepancy). Exactly one-third of a millennium later (Tuesday, January 23, 2024) I am raising a glass to the one religious figure I will elevate to the status of a hero.
I was born a Quaker and still have issues as to whether Quakerism is a religion or a line of thought, sure I believe in God, and speak to him on a regular basis, but I don't do books and fanciful stories, I prefer to base my beliefs on personal experiences, and pacifism.

So, George fox found the truth, and discover the mystery of God's voice not by quoting bible verses just like today? It is amazing
My only knowledge of him was his influence on the great man, William Penn.
