The 1080ti is the more powerful card by far when optimised well for new games. But most games optimise for rtx cards to make people with a 1080ti feel the need to upgrade.

it is, problem is if it willl suddenly die. and back in a day it was very expensive/ so i cant say it was a good deal. also 2020-2021 was the best time to sell it for a lot, since ppl were buying it for mining. best replacement for the same performance was 6600xt but with lower vram or for the same price it was something like 3060ti.

Temperature depends on the video card model, in the description it states that the 1080 is an Asus Strix (triple fans) and the 3060 is a Zotac (dual fans). In other words, the 1080 not only has more fans but also a much better construction.
No it is not. Dang thing costed 2k for this level of performance. 3 years of it at 2k cost. You get a better version of it now after 3 years for 400 bucks. The only thing that card was is a legendary scam.
4080 is a beast but way over priced. I went from a 1080ti to a 3080 in excellent used condition and it only cost me £350. The difference is crazy. As much as I’d love a 40 series cards, you need to spend £759 minimum for a 4070ti to get a card equivalent to a 3090, just couldn’t justify it.

went from a 1080 hybrid on my last build a few years ago to a 2080ti hybrid on this newer recent build, and i love it. but damn it was hard to find a game the 1080 couldnt handle, it was blessing of a purchase and it served me so damn well, never even going above 45c at max load, gotta love the hybrids! Just my 2c.... ASUS Strix GTX 1080 Ti OC (11GB) was my daily-drive gaming card until I've got an offer for RX 6900 XT so cheap I simply couldn't refuse it. My nephew now has the 1080 in his gaming rig where it performs flawlessly. btw... TITAN XP (Pascal, 12GB) is somewhat faster and can often be found for less $$$ than GTX 1080 Ti (11GB) ;)
That's how it used to be, 70 series were equivalent to 80 series of previous gen, same with 60 to 70 of prev gen. This all stopped with the 4000 series because Nvidia's greed knows no bounds, and AMD just follows suit. AMD had a golden opportunity to destroy nvidia this gen, but instead what we got were simply overclocked 6000 cards on smaller dies.
I kept my dear asus 1060 until last july. But i couldnt stand to fight with graphic settings and fsr to run the games at acceptable framerate, like dying light 2, full fsr artefact on screen et damaged picture due to "fsr optimised/perfoemance" settings. So i grab an asus dual 3060, and even this one didnt blow my mind, i still couldnt reach a full native 1080p/60 fps in some games... maybe due to my old 2700X doing some sneaky bottleneck
I guess if you like paying for the same experience with slightly better visuals. Probably wouldn't notice any difference in game play even side by side. But if you have money falling out of your pocket sure.

Don't just look at frame rate look at the gpu power draw. The 3060 is significantly more power efficient. 1080 ti is 7yrs old though. Probably one of the best PC hardware purchases ever, along with the 8700k.

Any 10th gen intel and ryzen 5000 series cpus and newer will be enough unless you are playing cpu heavy games or emulate games from not so old consoles
Mining cards are actually better than a card used for gaming due to the fact they run at lower pwr settings and tend to be well cooled and not overclocked. If you already have a 1080ti I see no reason for an upgrade at this time. Run it till it breaks.

Was a huge DIE (same as the Titan Xp) with plenty of RAM and could run at about 2GHz. Rasterization performance hasn't improved as fast as ray-tracing performance has in the past few years, that's why the 1080ti is still relevant in non-RT games. Also the 1080ti was a bit of an outlier in terms of price/performance, that's why it's remembered this fondly. but turn on RT shadows/illumination/reflections in a game that supports it and the 1080ti will be much slower than the 3060.
gtx1080ti was a really good card. But you cant stop a progress. New games, new hardware and the time. One or two years more and it will be absolutely dead, only for an old games and software, like 900 series.

Прикол в том что и до сих пор игры бы летали на 10ых картах если б под них оптимизировали игры под эти карты так как нет таких супер технологий для которых нужны другие карты, ну кроме RTX и то нормальный рейтрейсинг можно увидеть на 4070 и выше всё что до них это пробники с инвалидной коляской в виде длсс.

I think that what these kinds of tests show is that at 1080p, which the vast majority of people still use, 6GB of VRAM is enough for 95% of games at the highest settings. 8GB of VRAM will cover everything at 1080p and will be under-utilized by almost every game at 1080p at the highest settings. There's an argument about "future proofing" with more than 6GB of VRAM and if all else is equal it makes sense to get more than less at the same price, but unless you're running games at 1440p, which is a minority of people, or at 4k, which is hardly anybody, you don't need more than 8GB of VRAM.
Who needs DLSS. The Asus 1080 Ti Strix still runs all games with great performance. As long as you regulate its temperature with MSI afterburner, it'll live forever.
Nope. It's alot like the I7 4770K. It'll live a long time due to how powerful and well of an overclocker it can be, however, it doesn't have things like mesh shades or DLSS to help keep it with the competition. Plus, the data rate of the VRAM will also be a bottleneck soon.
Try running Ark survival ascended in medium graphic settings with your beloved 1080ti and no undervolt Then come black Hera and tell if DLSS and frame generation is not as worth as you said 😂

Most ppl don't play in 4k mode cause they all want higher fps. I do play in 4k though cause anything above 60fps is overkill and your eyes can't tell the difference anyways as long as the system doesn't glitch or seem jerky and laggy. I still run a 2060 super and when things start to get laggy, that's when I'll upgrade. As for now I can play 99.9% of all modern games with a couple of games that lag and are just not entertaining anyways.

My 1080 Ti with the combination of the i7 8700K handles every new games at 1440p 60 fps Medium to high. And some, Ultra. With the new update of the upscaling system, the 1080 Ti is still a beast in 2024. The greatest mistake by NVidia and the best buy for us. No cards will ever be like the 1080 Ti today. My new desktop has the 3080 and my laptop the 3060. When the 50 series come around, I'll upgrade my desktop wih the 4080 super.
No, that's not how it works. In fact a 780ti probably won't even load modern games anymore nonetheless have a FPS above 30 if it does in any setting config.

mmmkay... just couldn't help myself... GTX 1080 Ti (11GB) can be had for about US$ 180 or so, so it's still great bang for the buck IMO. As for 4K performance... give me a break please. 4K is for posers or for those for who the $$$ is not an issue. Wast majority of gamers still play at FHD (1080p), quite a few at QHD (1440p) and not all that many at 4K. Regardless of the resolution you might be playing at, I have always preferred less eye-candy features for smoother gaming so tone down some of those graphics settings. As for higher power consumption or performance per watt... seriously now? You play 12 to 18 hrs each and every day of the week so it digs deep into your electricity bill? "they have been mined out of their mind"... some but not all. As always, buy from a reputable source that offers 30-days warranty or a money-back guarantee. And if you are not screwdriver-shy, get one in your hands, give it a good cleanup and replace thermal paste. Having the latest and greatest is all fine and all but not everyone has upwards of US$ 600 or 700 to burn on a new graphics card.
got rid of my 1080ti after like 4 years, sold it last christmas in 2022 for $300 with a waterblock.. and bought a 6900XT with waterblock for $600 at the time.. best decision i ever made, because the 1080ti lost its value fast shortly after.. 6900xt is lightyears faster than that 1080ti

Don't just look at frame rate look at the gpu power draw. The 3060 is significantly more power efficient. 1080 ti is 7yrs old though. Probably one of the best PC hardware purchases ever, along with the 8700k.

Обратите внимание на энергопотребление 1080Ти в тестах. Оно должно быть в пределах 230W до 280W (без разгона) в зависимости от оптимизации игры. Сам лично сталкивался с проблемой оптимизации (или , может быть, с неподдерживаемой версией шейдеров!) для 1080Ти в Alan Wake 2. Потребление в этой игре составляло около 170W при 100% загрузке видеокарты и соответственно низкое количество к/с. Остальные же игры из данного теста на моей 1080Ти потребляют 240+ ватт и выдают большее количество к/с. Подозрительно, вам не кажется?!...🤔

Any 10th gen intel and ryzen 5000 series cpus and newer will be enough unless you are playing cpu heavy games or emulate games from not so old consoles

Mining cards are actually better than a card used for gaming due to the fact they run at lower pwr settings and tend to be well cooled and not overclocked. If you already have a 1080ti I see no reason for an upgrade at this time. Run it till it breaks.

Was a huge DIE (same as the Titan Xp) with plenty of RAM and could run at about 2GHz. Rasterization performance hasn't improved as fast as ray-tracing performance has in the past few years, that's why the 1080ti is still relevant in non-RT games. Also the 1080ti was a bit of an outlier in terms of price/performance, that's why it's remembered this fondly. but turn on RT shadows/illumination/reflections in a game that supports it and the 1080ti will be much slower than the 3060.
gtx1080ti was a really good card. But you cant stop a progress. New games, new hardware and the time. One or two years more and it will be absolutely dead, only for an old games and software, like 900 series.
The 1080ti is the GOAT. I highly doubt it will be dead, especially for budget gamers.

Прикол в том что и до сих пор игры бы летали на 10ых картах если б под них оптимизировали игры под эти карты так как нет таких супер технологий для которых нужны другие карты, ну кроме RTX и то нормальный рейтрейсинг можно увидеть на 4070 и выше всё что до них это пробники с инвалидной коляской в виде длсс.

I think that what these kinds of tests show is that at 1080p, which the vast majority of people still use, 6GB of VRAM is enough for 95% of games at the highest settings. 8GB of VRAM will cover everything at 1080p and will be under-utilized by almost every game at 1080p at the highest settings.
There's an argument about "future proofing" with more than 6GB of VRAM and if all else is equal it makes sense to get more than less at the same price, but unless you're running games at 1440p, which is a minority of people, or at 4k, which is hardly anybody, you don't need more than 8GB of VRAM.

Nope. It's alot like the I7 4770K. It'll live a long time due to how powerful and well of an overclocker it can be, however, it doesn't have things like mesh shades or DLSS to help keep it with the competition. Plus, the data rate of the VRAM will also be a bottleneck soon.
Try running Ark survival ascended in medium graphic settings with your beloved 1080ti and no undervolt Then come black Hera and tell if DLSS and frame generation is not as worth as you said 😂

Most ppl don't play in 4k mode cause they all want higher fps. I do play in 4k though cause anything above 60fps is overkill and your eyes can't tell the difference anyways as long as the system doesn't glitch or seem jerky and laggy. I still run a 2060 super and when things start to get laggy, that's when I'll upgrade. As for now I can play 99.9% of all modern games with a couple of games that lag and are just not entertaining anyways.

My 1080 Ti with the combination of the i7 8700K handles every new games at 1440p 60 fps Medium to high. And some, Ultra. With the new update of the upscaling system, the 1080 Ti is still a beast in 2024. The greatest mistake by NVidia and the best buy for us. No cards will ever be like the 1080 Ti today. My new desktop has the 3080 and my laptop the 3060. When the 50 series come around, I'll upgrade my desktop wih the 4080 super.

No, that's not how it works. In fact a 780ti probably won't even load modern games anymore nonetheless have a FPS above 30 if it does in any setting config.

GTX 1080 Ti (11GB) can be had for about US$ 180 or so, so it's still great bang for the buck IMO.
As for 4K performance... give me a break please. 4K is for posers or for those for who the $$$ is not an issue. Wast majority of gamers still play at FHD (1080p), quite a few at QHD (1440p) and not all that many at 4K. Regardless of the resolution you might be playing at, I have always preferred less eye-candy features for smoother gaming so tone down some of those graphics settings.
As for higher power consumption or performance per watt... seriously now? You play 12 to 18 hrs each and every day of the week so it digs deep into your electricity bill?

got rid of my 1080ti after like 4 years, sold it last christmas in 2022 for $300 with a waterblock.. and bought a 6900XT with waterblock for $600 at the time.. best decision i ever made, because the 1080ti lost its value fast shortly after.. 6900xt is lightyears faster than that 1080ti
