As a person that suffers from plantar fasciitis, I do take issue with what is considered “comfortable”. The reality there are a number of us ladies out that want to wear sandals but have a difficult time finding them. These sandals/ shoes they can be really pricey (like Paul Green or Beautiful Feel) they look like “granny shoes”, they don’t give enough support or the manufacturer may discontinue them. I would love to see an episode on shoes that deal with foot problems, because as women age foot problems can and do occur. • @ScientologySurvivor
    @ScientologySurvivor ปีที่แล้ว +7

I disagree about the Birkenstocks. I live near Manhattan and see teenagers, college students and women my own age in Birks. They’re so on trend actually. Trendy doesn’t scream desperate to me just because we are older. It depends on WHY something is trendy. If they’re trendy because they’re a godsend then go for it. They’re trendy imho because they’re practical and well made (not to mention comfortable to walk in for a long time and not harmful to our feet).
The sandals showcased in this video, quite frankly, would only be seen on tourists up here. Sorry.
Also, I think timeless looks are never aging. And that leads me to the subject of jeans. A classic pair of Levi’s will never, ever look aging. Stick with what has always worked and avoid the trends. Even saying “skinny” jeans are out, and straight leg is in, is perpetuating the myth that following trends when it comes to jeans specifically keeps us looking young. The only way to avoid looking aged or outdated when it comes to jeans is to wear what flatters our specific body types, in either a classic denim wash OR black or white or grey jeans. Anything else is aging. Because it’s not a classic. And honestly, looks silly.
Think of when we look back on photos from 20 years ago. A classic pair of Levi’s is not going to age the photo. The super low rise flares in a the heavily almost airbrushed looking fading on the front do though.
Same with the t shirts: a Classic V neck or crew neck in white, black, grey, beige or some other neutral has never, ever gone out of style. It kind of goes without saying yo avoid the embellished or “quote” type shirts.
So, stick with the versions of the classics that work for YOUR body type, and you’ll never imho look aged or outdated.
Not enough focus on those points imho.
And being sponsored by Express is cool and all, but I think most of us come here for advice, not a long commercial. More unique advice please. Without any one particular brand making money off our insecurities about aging. Case in point: those handbags you showed are quite frankly very “old lady”, not fresh, and, aging. Ironically, Express actually has way less aging handbags. But these weren’t it. So it felt like product being pushed on us, sort of haphazardly included in a video the aesthetic of these bags don’t even align with.
Just my 2 or 3 or 4 cents LOL.
    💛

Ladies, I usually agree with most of your suggestions. However, I strongly disagree with two of today's recommendations. First, those silver Express sandals have zero arch support and are NOT for mature women. Trust me on this and invest in good quality shoes now or you will regret it later. They don't have to be Birkenstock-ish to offer support. Second, the cropped jeans are too cropped and a little too baggy. They come off looking like capris which definitely are dated. A true ankle crop slimmer straight jean in a proper fit would look a lot more current. Having said that, I prefer regular length jeans like Kelly is wearing because they make us look taller. Regular length is never out of style.

What ages someone fashion wise, is not based on wearing one single item, it’s a culmination of things. It comes down to knowing how to pair items together, or plainly put, knowing how to dress. There’s a stark difference between fashion and style.
No shade, but those flat metallic sandals looked like they came from the $7 store. They also didn’t work well with those pants. Those pants actually needed a chunkier sandal to balance out the look.

Great looking trendy selections from Express. The shirt dress and the sandals you picked weren't really equivalent to what they were replacing. Anyone who wears a "tent dress" is not going to replace it with a leg baring shirt dress. The same goes for the sandals. Replacing kind with kind but in a more current style would be more useful. Maybe trying to "fit" Express into only a few selections would have worked better.

.... As far as the " Sandals, it can be a " hot issue, " lol... Because some of those shoes that you showed, that you referred to as " clunky ", etc...actually offer support and that's what people need in their feet and in their legs , no matter what age you are.
If You're wearing the " flat , strappy " type of sandals that does not offer / have any support for your feet or your legs..... Even if you're younger, you're gonna know it when you get in your thirties and forties that you did not do your feet/ legs any favours by not wearing a more supportive type Sandal. There are some decent looking Sandals.... They are not like the flats or like a flip flop that have for no support. Some of those styles you showed, that are not " sleek and stylish " people have no problem wearing those at home. I do not wear Birkenstocks. NO. . I will not buy a pair but I have bought some several different types of Sandals that I wear expressly at home... I would probably not wear those except at home, etc and wear a stylish but supportive Sandal or Wedge for with dresses, etc.
And because I need that support for my. Feet and my legs and I've had 3 injuries on the same side of my body , there's no way. I'm going to be able to wear a " cute little flat strappy sandal " that's not going to do anything for me, support- wise . l o l
I recognize that you are desiring to elevate ones personal style, ...nothing wrong with that, just do keep in mind that as one advances in age, the needs change... not everyone can wear a flat type of shoe that although stylish, does not work for them. Of course, you understand that, and are offering thoughts and examples of " Upping ones Style Game ", we get it. 🙂😊✨️
.. Loved those jeans Kelly had on , those are great ! I don't do " cropped jeans", lol... I'm 5'2' ,but I have long legs, ( short waisted ) but I don't like cropped jeans, lol. On other ladies, they can look really cute.
    Blessings to you both! 🙏🏻😊✨️🏵🌼🌻🪻
