      you must include less categories for step through/folding/fat and more categories of performance oriented bikes aka lunacycle z1, frey and about 10 other well made full suspension bikes that are under 70lb without compromising battery life, suspension quality, price or power

    Things you haven’t mentioned consistently are battery safety and service. All machines need service. Lubrication, ball bearings, suspension maintenance, etc. Regarding batteries, which ones are UL listed? For sure Specialized. Which others, if any. If not, be careful storing the bike inside. Who will repair it? Most local bike shops won’t touch an off brand e-bike. Even good bikes need maintenance. I just swapped and upgraded my drivetrain as the chain was shot. And the head tube had worked loose a little. Who will fix that? Even though these are cheap, you may be getting what you ask for! And what class? Class 1 is safe everywhere. 3 and motorcycle style might end up being restricted. And unfortunately you didn’t call out much on drive systems, esp mid-drive bikes. Hub drives are cheap, but probably not as durable as they have to spin as fast as the drive wheel is going. Mid drive can take advantage of the transmission, and perform well under massive loads.

    I was so happy to see the Electric Bike Company on the top 13 list. I purchased their Model E about a year ago and it’s an awesome quality bike that’s built to last. Their customer service is superb and yes, as mentioned in the review, their customization options and warranty is absolutely unbeatable and have many models to choose from and stand behind their product 100%. The cherry on top for me was that they are manufactured domestically in California, unlike the majority of E-bikes that seem to come from China. In my opinion Electric Bike Company is definitely worth serious consideration.

    • @Hoggdoc1946
      @Hoggdoc1946 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree these are nice bikes, but the are not manufactured in California, they are assembled in California from offshore components.
      Also they seem to be very generic in their design with nothing special other than their paint jobs.

    • @mmanjin
      @mmanjin ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@Hoggdoc1946 Although some parts of the bike are sourced from other countries other parts of the bike such as fenders and wheels are manufactured in California. However, the point is it's skilled American labor that designs and is putting these bikes together and not offshore labor that is often subpar, so the build quality of these bikes is excellent. In terms of design it is anything but generic especially given the number of models and amount of customization available and it's not just paint colors either. Speaking of colors, Chinese made bikes mostly come in one or two colors, which is black or white and maybe a couple of other colors. If you want a different or custom color forget it. Or maybe you want the fenders a different color from the rest of the bike. Ain't gonna happen. Or maybe you want a different brand of tire on the bike. Again, ain't gonna happen. Now that's generic and boring. Many companies offer strikingly similar models (with different graphics and slightly tweaked component mixes) that come out of one or two factories in China. Not very many offer anything unique. With Electric Bike Company you can make your bike truly unique to suit you. More companies should follow Electric Bike Company's lead and bring jobs back to the USA and support their local community.

      @@mmanjinoff shore labor is subpar? You must be 30 or less. I’m old and from Detroit. American workers overall were subpar which is why companies overseas became dominant.

      I’m surprised the Priority Current did not make this high end list for commuter bike.140 NM Mid-drive Shimano or Enviolo CVT up to class 3 etc. 🧐. And, if you belong to Costco a ~$600 discount over direct from company website. I love mine and was convinced on test ride from mega bike enthusiast friend. I imagine you can’t straight out advertise the lower price at. OST o but even still, it easily competes with the Specialized Vado.

I've owned my Ride 1Up 700 XR for one year now and at almost 3000 miles, I am still impressed with it's power, range on a charge, and stability. It is a bit heavy, at 65 lbs. but that seems to be the tradeoff for this kind of performance and durability.

    So glad that you finally mentioned the Himiway Cruiser ! I bought one almost 3 yrs. ago because @$1500 total this bike would get take me to 30 miles on throttle only at aprox. 28mph , since I have a lot of foot pain I can't peddle much and this is my only transportation . I haven't been disappointed at all in my purchase especially when other bikes that cost more give less . If I had to do it all over again I most certainly would do it . I've just purchased a Wired Cruiser as it's been advertised to exceed 38mph and can travel up to 36 miles on just lightly peddling for $2,162 which includes shipping . My Himiway will be for shopping trips and cold weather since I have a dual battery setup and the Wired Cruiser will be for just getting out and ridding .

    I bought a Specialized Globe Haul ST about a month ago. Get 60 miles on level 1. I use the panniers for my business hauling shipments to the post office and to local customers in my town. The 20 in wheel and 3.5 in tires with the quiet tread in the center make it quieter and it’s so maneuverable! The power is unparalleled and with the throttle assist up to 20mph you don’t have to be shifting gears every time you stop/start

    I'm riding a RAM Mia 1200 watt e-scooter. Cost was $1600 with 3 year waranty. Full motor use has a better than 100 mile range on it's 60 volt, 40 Amp battery. Comes with mirrors, horn, turn signals, rear carrier with trunk and a great alarm system. That locks up the wheels. It will do 56 KPH and pulls 20% hills very well. I am 75 live and ride in Costa Rica. Without Residence a drivers licese is not possible, but this gets me around very well. One thing I did not like is having to put mu feet together straight ahead so I added a 26 inch bar of 1 inch box steel as a foot rest and crash bar. Made a world of difference.
    There is a 4th mode locked out that will allow 67 KPH. Only 2 highways here allow for over 60 KPH and unlike the US most drivers here are 10 to 20 KPH below posted limit.

    Thank you so much for doing this video! Fortunately, the 2 bikes I had narrowed my search down to were included in your Top 13...the Aventon Aventure 2, and MokWheel Basalt.
    Before I make my purchase, are there any differences in performance, speed, or on the quality of components included in each? As I understand it, the MokWheel can be programmed to a top speed higher than the 28 mph of most other e-bikes. Not sure I will actually go faster than 28 mph, but it's nice to have it available.

    A little over a year ago I was "forced" back into cycling due to joints that can no longer support running. Not sure my existing bikes (road bikes) would be suitable, I bought a Ride1Up LMT'D, the cadence-sensing version, and it was just the thing to get me back to cycling. I barely ride it anymore because I'm back onto analog bikes, but without it, I might have never gotten back to cycling.

      I had 3 discs in my neck replaced and had balance issues. I was concerned that I might not be able to ride my radrunner plus that I purchased online during covid. I didn’t have a dealer near me. I’m 73 and not only was I able to ride it but it improved my overall balance even when walking. I ride it mostly on PAS 1 using 2 on windy days and using the throttle to when a little tired, a little hot after riding a while, crossing a busy highway to get across quickly. I love it, but my endurance is such that I’m toying with the idea of a standard mountain bike, no I’ll just ride my ebike? If you’re older get a step thru which is much safer to mount, and dismount especially if you need to make an emergency stop. Also you might not need it now but might in the future. Also, the radrover step thru and many other brands are so solid and overbuilt that the possible disadvantage of less strength from the folding joint are pretty much negligible.

I also appreciate all the good reviews and know that for trips to the store, maybe pulling my dog to and from places in a cart and in general, taking up some of the lesser trips I would normally have driven, I'm going to like the use of the bike vs. the truck!

    A big question to ask is which of these companies is likely to still be around in years when parts (Like batteries) are needed? I have a 2008 Prodeco Technologies Phantom X ebike. Good bike, great condition, but the battery is bad. Prodeco is out of business. I can't get a battery for it. There are battery rebuilders out there, but even they seem to come and go. My first thought for a new ebike was Specialized as I've owned their mountain bikes in the past. One visit to my local bike shop and seeing the $5000+ price tags of their e MTB's made me start looking for alternatives. Thoughts on who will likely still be around for decades to come?

    How about riding this XP 3.0 on the beach, as a surf fisherman. Instead of walking to my favorite fishing hole which usually a 2-3 miles walk, this bike should take me there in few minutes riding on the surf beach sands. Do you think the default tires and power will be ok to plow me thru the beach? I am concern about the small tires side on sands, but i am older now in retirement and i need a bike that is 60lbs or less. I am searching for an ebike that can do this beach thing, best if weight around 36-40lbs, but it is great that this bike can fold and is around 60lbs. My budget is around $1000-$1500.

    I’m gonna get a cargo bike- pretty set on the lectric expedition. I wouldn’t mind to pay a little more if I thought one of the $2,000ish bikes was any better. But it seems from your reviews that it’s just a beast. Would I get more bike with the rad wagon or aventon abound? Or is the lectric just the way to go?

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The internal debate amongst the staff is between the Abound or the XPedition for top cargo recommendation. Abound has a better overall quality feel, but the XPedition has staggering value (and solid ride quality to boot). You wouldn't be going wrong either way, and the Wagon or Blix Packa Genie or solid options as well.

    • @halmorra
      @halmorra ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve had the abound for 3 weeks now and absolutely love it. I carry my two kids on the back and it is a beast up every hill. 15mph right up the hill. I chose the abound because the safety rack for kids on the back looked much higher than the lectric’s (theirs looks like it barely comes up to their hip. I don’t know how big a deal that really is but I am thrilled with the abound. wish the front carrier bin was bigger. Front shocks are awesome.

    Hello, good job you guys did! But how come none of these bikes come with with a rear suspension option except the Revv1?

    • @ElectricBikeReport
      @ElectricBikeReport  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We're all for comfort, but rear suspension is something that's more needed on your dedicated eMTBs or other bikes where you're primarily off-roading. Since many of these are functional commuters, cruisers, city bikes - or a combination of those - we didn't feel the extra cost was necessarily worth it from other options we didn't put on this list.

    I purchased an Adventon Adventure 2 recently based off the features and price point compared to the competition. I haven't ridden in 25 years since I started driving and It's been great. I added a Thudbuster LT suspension seat post that was a great investment for my lower back. It doesn't quite get the attention of my e-scooter but everybody seems to love it. If it had front turn signals it would be pretty close to perfect. Oh well, it's still a ton of fun.

    just bought a Radrunner 2 in the UK, my first Ebike. They were offering it at quite a decent discount as i believe they are moving out of europe, but its such a popular bike i dont feel that will be much of a problem. Of course, being in europe we have quite heavy restrictions on ebikes that barely makes they practicle, but the radrunner has the ability just to swap out the display for an eggrider that means you can get 900W of power available - to be use offroad, obviously. Havnt got it yet, but quite excited to do some gravel trailing with it - and it will be my around town transport

My wife and I have been riding Himiway cruisers for several years and we enjoy them immensely. I'm so torn between the Revv 1 Hardtail (Only because FS is out of stock) and the Super73 S2. I know I should get the Revv because of the value for money, but as a designer my heart seems to be set on just how beautiful the S2 looks. Am I being stupid? Is the Revv a no-brainer?
