Hey Chris could you do a video on using one or both eyes open and some techniques to aiming either way? Thanks for all the tech tips so far!
How often does it take to start co witnessing with both eyes open bro ?
This vid will save so many people from injury. I did it wrong, no one corrected me and it... hurt.... After seeing you draw (before even seeing this vid) I gained so much ease to my draw, increased weight and no pain. So: Chris! Thank you.
Agree I been sky drawing and realized that was causing my pain, he made it simple but clear and to the point
Honest question, do/did* you spend* any time outside of archery strengthening your shoulders?
Absolutely. But archery is a particular set of muscles and a form to use them properly. Unless someone shows you, Chris's examples are what I experienced. Walk into an archery shop, most of the people selling bows to new archers just let them struggle. Not all, but many.
I tried this method but it kills my elbow. The archery strong method is way better and easier to me. I’m 61 yrs old and pulling 65lbs like it’s nothing now. Also a lot less movement is a treestand.
@@marlonorsburn4345 What's the Archery Strong method? I did notice that drawing with my palm out (I think Chris does this) made my elbow not hurt. Biomechanics seem person specific on top of everything else.
Thank you for sharing. I paused 3/4s of the way through and went and drew, put pins on target and then anchored. Truly a big difference. Thank you for sharing Chris
Great job Chris. Thank you for always giving us tips to prevent injuries and to up our game in the field.
I’ve been watching TH-cam for more than a year watching many great archers explain the proper stance and process for drawing back a bow but your explanation of the process though basic and simple is really the best I have seen! You perfectly explain how to use Leverage to accomplish the draw better than anyone else I have observed. For many young and strong men drawing the bow is not a big issue but for us older men and for women we have to get it right in order to draw at least minimal weight and to prevent injury so doing it right is very critical. Thanks
Excellent video.
I've also learned, through shooting pistols, that the body wants to subconsciously embrace itself against the recoil of a shot, thus flinching comes into play. So, to counteract this, dry firing a lot helps to condition the brain that nothing else is needed when the trigger is pulled.
Carrying over to archery, it seems panic can happen when the mind is concerned where the arrow lands. Since you can't dryfire a bow, you could fire into a blank target, therefore eliminating the worry of where the arrow will land, unless you're worried about missing the target. If so, move closer to the target.
good video Chris! I think the draw and set up the shot is one of the most overlooked part of form. I helped a guy that was having trouble with drawing and shoulder pain. I told his this exact thing and it changed his entire game. He is drawing easier, and shooting more consistent. Good luck this season!!
I never realized how much effort and energy it was taking to draw my bow. After watching this I went home and drew my bow like you explained and it's crazy how much more efficient it is. I was always taught to try to keep the pins on target when I was drawing. Thanks for the pointers.
Wow, I am new to bow hunting / shooting and this video helped me tremendously. Thanks, Chris! Truly appreciative of the online archery community.
Lots of great info. The best advice I can tell people you have target panic is just to take a step back and calm your brain. Target panic is all mental. One guy saw me shooting at 40 yards and driving groups so well and he tried the same thing but he got the target panic going. I told him to set his bow down and relax. He did that and he was driving groups like mine. A lot of things as hunters are all mental
Best video I’ve seen on tips for drawing your bow correctly…Simple, clear, easy to follow. Thanks Chris!
Good tip on getting pins on target before anchoring. I look forward to trying this and seeing how it helps. Great example of one of the many reasons I enjoy watching your videos. Always picking up information and tips
Thank you so much for the tips! My son is struggling with target panic...pins on--anchor. Thank you.
Your drawing bow tip helped me a lot. Thank you. I saw you teach this in one of your older videos but it didn’t register until this time.
Great content I have been recently trying different techniques and I’ve watched your videos before on drawing your bow but I never really grasp how you leveraged your draw cycle just know you look super smooth when you’re drawing your bow hopefully now that I understand I can implement it into my draw cycle. Thanks again
Great info, been doing this since watching you. nice to have it unpacked, hope others get into this
I have binged quite a few of your videos and have improved my form and shooting overall,so very thankful keep it up.
About to give it a try, tips always appreciated my good man, good luck this season 👍
Excellent tips on drawing the bow and aiming Chris. It sure does save wear and tear on the shoulder tendons. Thank you.
Hello Chris ! A big fan of your videos here, from Mexico. Mathews lover, best bows on earth. I've been struggling with target panic for a while, it is most under control now but it was not an easy task, tricky mind game. This tip in your video is just great ! it helped me with another push to get closer to full recovery. thanks a lot !
As someone that that bought their first bow in February of this year it was a struggle just to pull back 64 pounds. After watching many videos I changed the way I pull back and have no problems pulling max poundage back now. Your videos was something that helped me
Your last panic target video fixed me. Real refreshing when shooting now. Thank you.
I asked on this topic in one of your last videos. It’s no wonder you been shooting for such a long time injury free, I’m starting to see how lowering the bow as you pull back helps drawing back the bow. Thanks for this video. Awesome tips! 🏹
Always good information!! Keep up the good work..
How do you fix this? When I get on target it seems like my bow always wants to hold low and have to fight it up to where I want to hit
thanks so much for your tips im working on my technique an this has helped alot. 🤘🤘🏹🏹
Dude the tip about getting on target makes so much sense but yet it is something i had never thought of putting the pins on target before anchoring.
Thanks
You rock!
DUDE - anchoring after pins are on target is new info! I've always drawn, anchored, come up...and I get stuck right below target.. Going to give this a go! So helpful!
Great video! One thing I would add to the part about drawing back you bow is to ensure you are set to an appropriate poundage. As you pointed out, the muscles used to draw back a bow are different than one typically uses, which means that someone may have to start at say 50lbs and then build up to 70lbs.
Sound advice, easy to understand and absolutely the best and safest way to draw a compound.
I'm 37 and appreciate these tips man. Always room for improvement because I definitely don't know everything about archery and will never claim to. Enjoyed the video man. Nice Kansas buck by the way. That thing was a true beast!
Appreciate the tip of putting pins on target before you anchor. As a newer archer I have never heard anyone else talk about that tip before. When I first started shooting I was a from the bottom of the target up guy Will definitely try to add this into my shot routine
I’ve noticed when I point my bow at the target and pull straight back I get tried faster. I’m new to compound. Dudley said to point and pull back so I’ve been doing that. But I’m definitely going to try how you are saying. Thanks 🙏🏼
Thanks. I always enjoy your form and technique videos. Knock ‘em down this fall.
This is a great video and will save your shoulder. Such an important aspect of shooting. If you watch how the Japanese teach how to shoot their traditional high poundage war bows they actually start with both hands overhead to really maximize the leverage you talk about. You really can’t do that with a compound but it just really emphasizes your point. Nice video.
Thanks for the video, I didn't realize some of the things I was doing and now I know what to work on.
Great video by the way what compagny is for the haeness binocular
I pull across my chest. Noone ever taught me to shoot so I just taught myself 20 years ago. I have a torn labrum from a navy injury a few years back. I will try and retrain myself to draw correctly next spring/summer. Thanks Chris.
The tip about drawing (at minute 3:00) worked perfectly for me. It felt so much easier than the way I was doing it. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Your the best! Thanks. 2 weeks and I’m rocking and rolling. Good luck out west. 👍
Super Helpful I'm new to Hunting Compound from Hong Kong, as I always looking for target after full draw and look from peep sight, but the pre aiming can use on magnify scope? Thanks
I’ve been a shooting a bow for 26 years now and target panic has recently set in. Gonna try this tip to hopefully correct this issue. Thanks for the info!!
Some really interesting points. I already do the high leverage draw back and I think I have done that for a long time or maybe noticed it more after seing one of your other videos. But the other tip I have not heard before or not in that way, that you should not anchor before the sight is in about the right place. I don't know if I can do that, but I will check out how I do it and maybe try this one.
I need all these in a play list so I can just watch all form help in one place. Your a great teacher
Love your videos! My question is should I shoot with a peep sight or not.I ware glasses and a beginner bow hunter, just trying to see what's easier for my situation?
Great Advice thank you very much
Gosh i was shooting so inconsistently and broad heads only exaggerated my problems. I started aiming then anchoring like you said and all those accuracy and inconsistency problems just went away. No longer torquing the arrow, or anchoring then lowering my left arm down to the target which was definently causing me to miss high on lots of shots. Its like my left arm was bringing the bow to the target but my right arm was still trying to aim that arrow above it. Shots just feel smoother and better while that arrow leaves the bow.
Thanks for the tips!
As always excellent video..i was doing alot wrong until i found your channel...
Good luck this deer season..🏹🦌🏹
Good stuff! Thanks Chris!
Chris, that was so right on. Couldn't say it better. I just wanted to tell you that I'm the on that works on bows here is Southwest Nebraska, you know one of my customers. Have a good day.
Keep these tips
Coming. Haven’t shot my bow in 2 years due to target panic. It has gotten soo bad that I don’t even enjoy shooting anymore. Hopefully some day I can get back out there now that my son is really getting into it.
Maybe think about getting a resistance style release. Then you won’t know when the bow will go off. Hold on target and just keep pulling til it fires.
Thanks for all the great info chris.
Awesome stuff, thank you!
Great tips! Much appreciated!
Thank you! Its helped me so much since Kaitlyn did a video on it. I'm still learning it but it feels so much better!
Another top video! Keep them coming. Thanks Chris Bee
Great tips Chris thanks!
Awesome video thank you so much… I drop my release last year and lost it i always have backup now
Fabulous! Ive been doing it wrong! Makes so much sense. Thanks
Funny I’ve seen extremely famous bow hunters on TH-cam making all the draw mistakes Chris is talking about. Thanks for the tips Chris I’ll definitely try them.
That's what I needed. Thank you !
5:31 Great point
Hey man what release do you use my old thumb barrel broke and I want a new one and I have watched your channel for a while and I seen you like yours and it’s good quality
Good information!
Its situational like you said. I personally only practice drawing straight back due to the fact I hunt from a chair. The extra movement is noticeable. I recommend Recreational shooter to draw the way Chris bee does anyone else, situational.
Hey man, I love your vids, I’ve watched a lot, but this is the first time I noticed your bench light…any chance you could share what it is and where you got it?
that was a pretty good tweak of my form. Just starting with the bow slightly in the air as opposed to pointing at the target felt like it took 20lbs of my draw weight.
Does the draw change depending on what release your using since your holding it differently?
Sometimes you're in a tight spot in brush, between tree limbs etc and you have to draw not to bumps things so you draw different. I try to push my bow out towards the target more than anything. Depends what us around me on how I can move.
Could you talk about releases. I use a wrist release so it's hard to lose. Why the hand release? Great video
Hey Chris what do you think about using just a kisser button No peep?
what do you think as in anchoring and accuracy etc
my dad started shooting instinctive then moved to sights in the 90s using a peep. he told me a story once, he was in a tree stand on the edge of a hay field hunting a huge whitetail buck.
he said the buck came into the field right before dark (19yards) he could see it plain as day but he drew his bow and couldn't make out the deer through the peep. that night he said he took the peep and through it in the garbage. to this day he's only ever used a kisser button and that's how me and my brothers learned.
Thanks, my accuracy has gone down hill over the last couple of weeks and I believe I am at fault. I had a limb split last year and I quickly replaced the old slow bow with something faster and I never really felt good with the new bow. I will run back through my form again tomorrow and try to apply some of these tips.
Can we get a video on shooting from seated position like in a blind? Also how do those expensive releases with no 360 rotation not create torque on your d loop?
once on target do you focus more on the target itself or your pin? Of course its both but you can focus on one more than the other.
Hey Chris, why does it always look like you are looking at your top cam before you come into anchor? Or are you setting something on your body in place?
how do you transition from a wrist trigger release to a thumb button release?
One of your best!
Great tip makes a lot of sense. Draw get on target then anchor
Ive been looking, what chest rig are you running for the most part nowadays?
Thanks man ur my idol
Where the new Mathews’s video for the new bows that cost a mortgage
Please do a video on how to fix holding low. I can hold low under the dot very good but as soon as I try to pick the pin back up on target I start shaking
It always blows my mind to see professional hunters draw their bow crazy. I can only imagine the crunch in their shoulder everytime they draw their bow
Nice video. How lucky you are to have 3 buttons with you. I wish I can just afford to buy one 😅
Good luck from France for the incoming hunting season 😊
Love the videos Chris bee
How do I grip my bow ,? I keep shootin about 4-6 inches to the right at about 40 yards , I’m left handed
How to prevent arrow from hitting sight, im at 100 yards with room left on my site tape. I have not smacked my sight with fletchings would like to know max range with out doing that. I believe i heard you explain it but don’t remember where or what you said.
Thanks for your time.
great video, looking forward to a Mathews Title bow build...
I had a release failure at like 1/3 way to full draw (my fault from tweaking with the release) and it still launched an arrow over 100 yards. Luckily I was neighbors with a farmer but I’m in a neighborhood now and it just still bothers me to even kinda point the bow up while drawing
Also, when you rise the bow arm up and.come down (as shown), it sets the front shoulder better.
What sight do you use would love to get one and try it out
I have had pain on the outside part of my left shoulder when drawing my bow. I have tried your way of drawing the bow and I still have a little discomfort on the outside of my shoulder. Any suggestions?
I dont think i need 900$ in releases in my bag 😂. But great tips. 👍
Great video man! Had me thinking I had crickets in my how’s the entire time 😂😂😂
@chrisbee Where can i buy chest pack your wearing in this vid?
Chris, I though that I was the only one to have spare releases on my person while hunting. One in my hand and three in my day pack.😂
Hi, i have a problem when im in focus, im always in the beginning of the 8/end 9 at 6 o clock, so i always need to lower my arm trying to be in the middle, any tips ?
Love the vids
What bino harnesses do you use
What bino harness is that?
