    Lenny demonstrates that he is a king among men. He could have taken this opportunity to sell us new mags, but he provided us with intel to enable us to make an informed decision. Exceptional coverage of this topic. Loved how you demonstrated the differences between the two barrels for those needing to know. I also liked how you slowly demonstrated how to take off the slide with cautionary steps. Best video on this topic - Nicely done!

Already put 200 rds through my G22 9mm conversion barrel with 0 issues- actually a lot more fun (and cheaper) than .40 but still using my home defense set up (G22/TLR-2).

    Just want to mention that the brass to face issue on a Glock 27 G27 Gen 2.5 with a Glock 23 G23 40-9 conversion barrel was resolved with following parts ordered and installed...
    (1) glsp28927 sp28927 Glock Trigger Housing (Gen 4) 40 S&W (only use the 28926 ejector)
    (1) Glock OEM Extractor Dep Plunger Spring SP00119/ SP33522

    (1) SP00098 Glock Extractor 9mm (90°) for Old Style Non-LCI Slides w/ 90° Ejection Port
    Also, made sure to use 9mm double stack magazines. So, yes, it works. Some have issues, some don't. And some find the right combination of parts to get it to work correctly. Good luck and happy shooting!

    I got a glock 31 (.357 sig) and ended up get both 40cal and 9mm conversion barrels from lone wolf. And whats awsome is the .357 sig magazines can function with all three calibers. Flawlessly with the 40cal but I can't load a 17 rounds of 9mm in the magazine. The spring pressure is too great and it spits out the rounds after about 8 or 9. Although it didn't seem ol Lenny had that problem.

    My experience is exactly as he mentions with double feeds using the 40 mag with the 9mm cartridge. The opening of the 40 mag is not tight enough to securely hold the 9mm round reliably. That combination does work but it is not 100% reliable. I have since acquired 9mm magazines to use with my G27 and the GS's 9mm conversion barrel.
    The is very little wiggle room in the Double Diamond 9mm conversion barrel's chamber. I absolutely had to plunk test every round and test fire to feel comfortable in using this gun as an EDC. Once I had all the kinks resolved, it is a terrific EDC by any measure.
    My dream gun is a 45ACP in the G27 size frame, as opposed to the bulkier G30 or G36. What I do, however, is to use 200 grain 10mm Speer Gold Dot bullets downloaded to mid-range which practically is a +p 45ACP in the G27 frame. Works for me.

    Good to know. This is not the case with my S&W M&P Shield 2.0 chambered in .40sw. I was able to drop in a factory 3.1 inch 9mm barrel for the 2.0 with no problems. The only difference between barrels is the 9mm is maybe a couple thousandths of an inch narrower top/rear part of the hood where the view port is for the loaded chamber indicator. For me it's more accurate and more fun to shoot at the range with the 9mm barrel.

    Not entirely true that it's just a simple barrel swap (at least in my case) I purchased the Double Diamond Premium barrel and used with my brand new never shot Glock 23 gen 3, I had to replace the ejector, when I went to the range and used the original .40 cal ejector it was stove piping practically every other round when shooting with the barrel conversion, (even when just racking it and trying to eject the rounds manually, it keeps jamming) when I called it in to the glock store, they knew right away what's causing it and told me I NEEDED to replace the ejector (Well, so much for Barrel Swap ONLY), luckily the ejector is just a $10 part and they even replaced it for me, I was fine driving 1 1/2 hours away to their store in San Diego only because I wanted to visit the store, for those planning to do the same with their G23, keep in mind that the ejection trajectory will be different once you replace the ejector to 9mm, it'll shoot more upward than just sideways, not super big deal , but had I known about the change in ejection trajectory I might not have gone the G23 route with barrel conversion, I'm glad that the every store personnel I've interacted on phone and at store were very nice, that kind of make up for my disappointment with the barrel conversion

    If someone had a .40 S&W G23 slide and barrel and a .357 Sig G32 slide and barrel, I wonder if it could be done then? I would even buy the proper caliber Glock magazines if I needed to as well.

    I have an aftermarket conversion G27 storm lake barrel in 9mm for my G27. I have never bought a G26 mag and have shot many many 9mm rounds using the 40 caliber magazines and never had an issue plus you get an extra round. So with the pearce extended G27 magazine it makes the 9mm a 12 shot. I got it for the range because 9mm is cheaper and more pleasant to shoot and if it doesn't work on the range so what, that is the best time to have a malfunction. For protection I put the 40 barrel back in anyway.

    Follow-up to my earlier post... Just back from the range where I shot 100 x 40SW and 100 x 9mm in a G27 with the lonewolf conversion barrel.
    Both 40 and 9 mags fed the conversion barrel with zero problems.
    Silhouette distances were 3, 7 and 10 yards.
    I was shocked how much tighter my clusters were with the 40s at all distances. I don't know why this would be given the noticeable reduction in recoil with the 9s.
    Is this the result of lower grains? Cheaper loads? I have never shot 9mm so this is new to me. The fitment of the conversion barrel looks perfect to me. Does it need breaking in?
    I will practice more with the 9mm because of cost but I would like to know what I am "missing" here.
    Thanks

    Can you use the 22 mags in a 17 though? I don't think there's much difference than what was covered in this video, but I don't a have a 17 to try it out in.

  • @TheXOoftheRO

    hes right a 40cal round would never feed into a 9mm barrel hood. Also, It simply would prevent the slide from going into battery and you couldn't pull the trigger anyway. I have a G23, it shoots 3 calibers. why you would get this barrel.

    My older 40 mags are too stretched out to function well with 9mm.
    But with newer mags, at least for the range, the 40 mags will work with 9mm.
    For defense tho, get a factory 9mm mag, or just stick with 40…even better.

    There is no reason to buy a 9mm when with a .40 you have more options.
    Don't forget your can also get a .357 Sig barrel for many .40 as well.
    You need a special barrel for the Glock? My Beretta 96 can simply take a Beretta 92 barrel and works fine.
    Using the .40 magazine is a little awkward but I've never had a malfunction.

    If I had any interest in 9mm, I'd go with a lighter spring (15-16 lb), a 9mm ejector, and 9mm mag. Who wants a Glock that "mostly works"? I read somewhere that the Lone Wolf 40 to 9 conversion barrel supposedly compensates for the different shell diameter, such that changing the ejector is not required, but I don't see how that's possible. I haven't personally done it, but I don't see how the barrel's chamber has anything to do with the alignment of the extractor to ejector, so I'd be more inclined to swap the ejector too.

    • @MrPatsDad
      @MrPatsDad 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The recoil spring is the same part # for generations 1-3 for both calibers, it's different in the generation 4s though. Some pistols will function fine without changing the ejector, but some won't. It was hit ot miss with my gen 3 23, so I changed out the trigger housing with one that had the 9mm ejector and it's been just as reliable as my 19.

  • @TacticalChipmunk
    @TacticalChipmunk 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    It's not that simple. What he doesn't tell you is that you may have some ejection problems also. Did you that brass to face while he was shooting?

  • @ejlacour2926
    @ejlacour2926 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    The Glockstore claims that you don't have change anything but the barrel. I had ejection problems with my G23 with a 9mm magazine. I changed the ejector and the regular FMJs worked fine but still had problems with hollow points, 30-40% of the time, rounds would not eject. Now I am waiting for my extractor to come in, it should be fine after that. Be prepared to change said parts if you have problems.

    • @John_shepard
      @John_shepard 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Use +p hollow points as the barrels are made to take the abuse and a lower spring weight

    So i finally decided to give it a try, though my gun lov'in buddies told me not to. I got brand new Lonewolf LWD-239N barrel and went to the shooting range this passed weekend. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Damn thing jamms 2-3 times on one x15 round mag. after a 3 or 4 mags, it jammed to a point that i was not able to extract empty shell from the barrel nor i could not remove barrel because shell got stuck in it. I used various rounds Tuls,Remingtons,Winchester, Federal. None of these rounds jammed in beretta px4 or HK VP9, only in my glock 23 with this Lonewolf barrell. This glock has about 300 rounds through of its original caliber and never jammed, so i assume its the barrell. Wish i could attach photo.

    • @qubexdatarecovery
      @qubexdatarecovery 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seeing some people replacing ejector also... i didnt do that, as i saw quite a few guys shooting it just fine without replacing ejector. Changing that, does not make any sense to me, as was thinking about having 2 different cals that i can hand swap in the field quickly without any additional work.
