- The European Union has fined Apple €1.84 billion ($2 billion) for breaking its competition laws. The bloc announced Monday that it was imposing the fine on Apple (AAPL) - its first-ever antitrust penalty on the US tech giant - for preventing rival music streaming services such as Spotify from telling iPhone users that they could find cheaper ways to subscribe outside of Apple’s app store. Meanwhile DePIN projects benefiting creators and gig-workers are begining to flourish.

Napster was GREAT. I got introduced to so many new artist across the globe that I might not have ever heard of had it not been for people sharing their preferences over the internet. I'd stay up all night listening to music and the very next day I'd go down to my corner record and buy the album. And then spend my money going to their concerts.
I wish that the artist had realized what Napster was, a great decentralized way to get exposure without having to spend a dime on advertising.
But alas the big boys came in and convinced them they were getting fleeced. When it was/is them that's been doing the fleecing all along.

Shows that most people know little. It would take about $20B a year in fines for it to affect Apple in a meaningful way. Apple is still easily able to skirt the issue that Spotify has with Apple and that's why Spotify is still complaining even after the judgement (that Apple will simply appeal). Maybe Spotify should stop using Apple's servers to shill their wares and build their own store. And while they're at it, Spotify should properly pay musicians like Apple is. No company is near anywhere perfect but this case is shows how desperate Spotify is at trying to stay relevant. EU is trying to protect Spotify because they are basically all the EU has in big tech.

To me, if Apple is forced to open alterante app stores because of the EU, that is still a major blow to the need for a Solana phone. The control and the App store weree the biggest targets, in my opinion.

@@holson2112wrong. You should do research. ETH network has not had an outage. Not finalizing blocks is not an outage. Solana finalizes above 2/3 and loses liveness below. It uses one consensus algorithm.
Ethereum has two consensus algorithms. Ghost keeps it live below 2/3rd and Casper finalizes it above.
Any one algorithm can only ever either stay live below threshold or finalize above, never both.

Teleport is a great idea but need to bridge to ETH network. Solana not true DeFi and/or Web 3.0. Way too much infrastructure on Web 2.0 that's why the chain keeps shutting down from DDoS attacks.
So far, literally none of Solana‘s outages were related to web2 infrastructure.
