    This is the Sangamon River. More than likely the lower Sangamon. Runs right by me. I fish that and the Spoon River.

    My favorite small river kayak rod is a 5’6” Ugly Stick ELite, Medium Light. Options for one piece or two piece rods. The two piece can fit into a backpack. It’s easier to handle fish from the kayak with a shorter 5’6”, and like your point with the power pole, the 6’5” and 7’ rods tend to hit tree branches when in the rod holder when you’re not careful.

      I just ordered a purpose built Ugly Stick kayak rod. It's 4', Medium action, only for sale in Europe. Couldn't find any 4' rods in the US so I had to bite the bullet and pay $45 shipping

    That just might be the same river I fished with Rivermantv, we floated once in December and I hit a 19" 😏 I've had some good luck in some other areas locally too.. caught a 21" a couple of weeks ago.. And i know another river that's just about as beautiful. And that was a neat tip with the anchor and zip tie.

    After reading his commentary about not at least identifying the river, it was time to unsubscribe, and stop watching his channel. We have enough secretive "sportsmen" on youtube. Sad, there was some potential here. If you read some of his responses, the attitude towards other outdoors enthusiasts is unnecessary.

    • @EngineeringHooksets
      @EngineeringHooksets  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @davemccoy9153 1. You are not entitled to my fishing spots. Sometimes I'll post spots, other times I won't. Get over it. 2. My attitude? What a ridiculous comment. My standard response when someone asks for the location is: "I'd rather not say, sorry". That's very polite.

    • @nootpengu
      @nootpengu 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    • @davemccoy9153
      @davemccoy9153 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EngineeringHooksets Your response is the perfect evidence of your crappy entitled attitude. You sir are far from a sportsman. "get over it" Just shows how full of yourself you are. Can't take criticism because of your self centered entitlement. You really need to step back and get over yourself. By the way, those little river smallies are not much to brag about, but I am sure they are the pinnacle of your small stream success. This and more is why your will never gain any relationship traction here, this is nothing more than a niche channel. the funny thing is that you think by sharing the name of a river that your "secret" spots will be over run by people. This fish are not big enough or numerous enough for anyone to swarm over your "secrets". I guess that is the funniest part of your attitude quite frankly. There is a reason the river is empty... a lot of work for small fish.

    Would I be better suited to mount my anchor wizard on the bow or stern? I usually fish rivers, might take my kayak on some smaller lakes. I usually try and go up stream so I have the current to help me back to the car when I am done fishing/tired. I like to anchor at a spot for a few minutes/break it down and move up.

    • @EngineeringHooksets
      @EngineeringHooksets  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@zachh-w3s Definitely do not ever anchor by the stern in current, that can easily flip a boat. Always anchor by the bow. I think the only safe way to anchor by the stern is with a power pole. Thanks for watching!
