Hey guys. I really appreciate all the Joey passion. I'm stunned how this is not what I thought it was. I was a huge RAGE fan and loved Rock/Rap back in the day. at the beginning of 2000-2010, Slipknot was something new for me in metal, especially in drums .... I got a full dose like never before. It was the start of something new
I come from a more melodic metal background and I didn't really like Slipknot at all when I first heard them. The aggression in the music and the whole aesthetic felt a bit fake to me at a glance. Then I took the time to actually listening to what they were about and found them to be great, there was a raw honesty and true skill to their music that was easy to miss. I think it's partly due to the very iconic image they project, it's easy to see just that and think that's all there is to them. I've since seen them live about half a dozen times and time has been an life-affirming event.
He MADE the band, in my opinion, taking metal drumming to a new place... influencing many, even non-metalheads, including my son who is now a professional drummer himself.
Been watching him since I was 10 I'm 21 now and I still think he is one of the greatest to ever live. Has his own style which is unreal. Nobody else compares to Joey jordison
Honestly same after I broke out of the classic "your dad's" metal, this was the first band I gravitated towards. And the first thing that grabbed me was those drums!! He made me a drummer what a huge inspiration he will be missed...
Same man, I picked up the sticks because of him. I was obsessed with his playing and was drumming on some chair in my room trying to get those fast powerful singles down before I even got a real drumset.

I got to see them 3 times once in a small club for their debut album. Twice when they were touring for their 2nd album. Joey's energy up close was insane RIP Joey a true legend... One guy you need to check out is Hannes Grossman
Joey Jordison and Jason Bittner, from shadows fall, really got me into drumming when I was in grade 9, about 20 years ago now ... .RIP Joey. You're a legend brother!
Honestly man, when I was a in high school I thought only weirdos listened to slipknot. Had no idea what I was missing out on. I don’t think any other album in the world can give me goosebumps ( driving in a car with the windows down in over 100 degree weather) like “Iowa” can. They are my all time favorite band!
I'd say Joey Jordison, Adrian Erlandsson and Tjodlav, were my most idolised and influential drummers in metal, self taught purely by ear and watching their actions then later got lessons but my tutor couldn't process what Joey was capable of. Needless to say their drumming led me on a journey that shaped my life to push boundaries and give 110% every time
I still genuinely think this is their best concert and will remain so. It's so hard to top what they did here, even if they are still great. And again, I greatly appreciate you still looking into Joey's body of work. Just showing him a lot of respect and for that you have mine.
I've been drumming since I was 8 . I was 12 years old when Iowa came out and it completely and utterly blew me and my friends away. Twenty years have passed since. I've played through Bozzio's Black Page during my music university recital, spent probably thousands of hours studying every move of Weckl, Colaiuta, Mayer, etc. I still listen to Iowa frequently and it still blows me away. Joey was one of those people that lit the inital fire for me, a fire that pushed me to pour literally everything I had into playing the drums for the good part of two decades. That to me is the true definiton of an all time GREAT. Rest in piece Joey.
Been a fan for over 20 years man. The shock is unreal. I have to say just watching someone fall in love with their music never gets old. Welcome, maggot!
The simple fact that his double bass has some imperfections in this video are a testament to him doing everything's himself instead of drum tracks or major assistance of any kind.
Not a drummer, but I love your content on TH-cam. Always positive and open- minded. I am a huge Slipknot fan and glad you liked both the drumming and music. Their music helped me trough some difficult times. Joey's passing hit me and other maggots(Slipknot's nickname for their fans) hard.
Thank you so much for doing these! Joey was who got me into drumming as a teen he was absolutely phenomenal! I was absolutely gutted at the news of his passing. Would love more Slipknot/Joey reactions. May he RIP, your music will live on forever legend 🖤🔥
Joey has always been a hug inspiration to me growing up. I've listened to Slipknot since I was 5 years old and I've been drumming the same amount of time. They are my favorite band of all time above other bands. I finally got to see Slipknot in 2015 and it was amazing. Sad that Joey wasn't part of it. Thanks for doing this and im glad they caught your attention.
Slipknot put on a hell of a show; great stage presence. I saw them once in 2009 just after the release of All Hope Is Gone. One of my favorite concerts to date.
You should check out their song "Spit it Out" performed live at Download Festival 2009. This video is of the whole band, not just Joey, but it will give you a great example of their whole stage show. They are truly a one of a kind band.
I saw Slipknot on this tour in Brighton England. Was and is to this day the best show I have ever experienced. Loved when they played Eeyoore, and Joeys kit turns round through it so we could all see what was going on. Awesome band, awesome drummer. RIP Joey.
So awesome to see one professional praise another and get such a kick out of the work of Joey. These reaction videos are fantastic! What a loss to music (drumming) Joey is!
This guy shaped my drummer career and changed my fuckin LIFE!!!! That part your talking about "open handed", yeah, he's hitting the high-hat with his right hand and then dropping it on the snare as he hits the highhat with his left hand. Miss playing to these songs!!!!!
Like I told you already in another reaction video: I have seen these guys several times live and they were killing it every time. Which is one of the reasons that until this day his signature snare is my main snare for over ten years now. I loooove the sound of his snare and it is soooo good. I am buying a Tama kit in the near future but I am still thinking of keeping his snare as my main snare. Hats off to you, good sir, for digging in. Love your reactions!
I remember the day I first heard slipknot. It was just an ordinary day. I wasn't looking for new music. It just came on. My hair....stood up on my arms. I gave it a second listen. I laughed out loud with joy. It was so exciting. I shared it with my metal friends. They had similar experiences. Slipknot certainly opened a new door in the music world. Metal bands seems to have ways of doing that dont they? 🤘 Thank you Andrew. What an absolutely awesome tribute to Joey.
Andrew, Joey was a huge inspiration to my life as a musician and as a person. The speed, dynamics, subdivisions, and speed was absolutely unmatched, especially for the time. He will forever be a legend and he's brought me to your amazing channel. Big up for more Joey Jordison cam vids!
Yup, that is a good one, it shows that with just a few hours of rehearsing he was able to drive Metallica, even on a kit that was setup for Lars Ulrich, so totally different than Joey's setup.
you wont get any hate from us slipknot fans. everyone's welcome the more the better enjoying their music. i suggest you look at spit it out live at download and you will get a feel for the whole band and some drum acrobatics. love the work
It's possibly the most energetic moments in music history as far as I can see! Seen them 4x live. First 3 with Joey. Then thought Jay was just a half speed Joey and not impressed... but he's definitely gotten faster and better since
If you ever get the chance to see them live I highly recommend you do so. Hands down one of the best bands to see live. I've seen em 4 times now 5th show coming up soon can't wait!
You get my sub for all the Joey love! Seriously this is a perfect example of, once you get passed the initial preconceived notions of what you think it will be at face value, and truuuully truly hear the music and see the talent and see them for what and who they really are, it’s just undeniable man, and the fact that you’ve been open minded and recognized this so quick!? Amazing brother, amazing… Joey is without a doubt the best drummer of our generation!! He’s been my idol since I was 12 years old, am 31 now.. nuff said. Great video brother! Welcome to the maggot family!
This is what metal is ! When you listen it for the first time, its clearly an agression but you dig it and continue to listen and then you are inside the vibe and love that !
I was at this gig in 2001 and first time I heard this song. That clean double bass breakdown is what made me rush out and buy an iron cobra double kick peddle. I didn’t see them again until 2019 which obviously wasn’t Joey but as a band amazing live! Get listening to the albums - they’re like a fine wine mate they just get better and better!! Welcome to Slipknot.
Just commented on likely the previous review to this one re: Joey. Again, I appreciate your increased appreciation for Joey and Slipknot. I've never played drums, but I've always loved them and wanted to learn. Joey's speed, intensity, accuracy, and ability to move his entire body independently, all while head banging... Amazing to me. I'm not just a straight up metal fan either. I listen to the dubliners, clancey bothers and Tommy makem, to metallica and slipknot. I appreciate your videos sir!
RIP Joey… from a drummers perspective he’s got double bass chops like no one else, and as you mentioned the live performance is flawless. Considering what I’ve heard about these guys being completely insane and messed up on drugs and alcohol, the fact he can play like this for like 90 minutes while wearing a kabuki mask with fire, lights and all that. Absolute freaking monster. Love to his family and friends, and especially the slipknot guys. After losing Paul this will have just destroyed them 😥 love your reactions dude, even though you’re a kiwi lol (love from Australia) xx
Joey inspired me along with gene hoglan to progress my drumming as a teen i only really loved the first Slipknot album, i had his pearl snare for a while. A truly unique drummer with amazing energy, sorely missed.
Slipknot is one of the best bands ive ever seen live. Even if its not your style of music their whole stage presence and performance is fun. R.i.p Joey
metal makes my soul smile it flows through my blood my hole body gets a feeling that no other music drug or food makes me feel. i love it and it’s great to watch someone’s soul feel it and love it. it’s awesome do t stop there’s plenty of other metal bands that will wake ur soul up.
You should do the drum solo from the same show next. He's sitting on a platform that literally tilts the entire drum set sideways and spins it around all while still playing and doesn't miss a beat. It's insane! Honestly though you could pick any song from this show and it's gonna be amazing. This concert is hands down my favorite live performance of any band.
I really appreciate you doing these videos. I was never a fan of this genre but being in construction I’ve listed to many many hours of it lol. I have had a soft spot for slipknot as well due to the musicality of it. They are talented artists, much above many of their peers. My son drums and I remember watching clips with him to introduce him to this legend in the speed game… Joey definitely makes an impression lol. Again, thanks for honoring this legend - RIP Joey Tony
Joey is like a COD sniper using quick aim.. and this is a compliment... he hits the drums spot on hit after hit. RIP.... now you aren't a living legend anymore... you became a drum god!

Not only was Joey a world class drummer, he played a huge part in the song writing and structure of their songs. All of Slipknot members assigned numbers to themselves in the band. Joey was #1 for a reason 🤟🏼

No hate here. Great appreciation on your part! I understand the regret of not experiencing greatness while he was still here, but that’s why I subbed to your channel. You are open minded to try it, and by your reaction you truly appreciate it. Welcome to the fold. You should still try to see them live, it is an awesome experience. The current drummer Jay Weinburg is a great player as well (and his dad is the famed Max Weinburg). One more drummer you need to check out is Gene Hoglan (the Atomic Clock) humble soft spoken guy but behind the kit, he will melt your face!! He has as played with a ton of metal bands and is currently in Testament. R.I.P Joey, and thank you for the music. Rock on🤘🏼

Joey was the heart of slipknot
I got to see them 3 times once in a small club for their debut album. Twice when they were touring for their 2nd album. Joey's energy up close was insane RIP Joey a true legend... One guy you need to check out is Hannes Grossman
I have done a Hannes vid!
Needless to say their drumming led me on a journey that shaped my life to push boundaries and give 110% every time
GREAT to hear!
I still genuinely think this is their best concert and will remain so. It's so hard to top what they did here, even if they are still great.
And again, I greatly appreciate you still looking into Joey's body of work. Just showing him a lot of respect and for that you have mine.
THANK YOU!
Haha! Thanks Chris
Pantera and Metallica got me interested in Heavy music. Joey Jordison's drumming with slipknot got me addicted for life.
Well said Keith!
Thank you so much for doing these! Joey was who got me into drumming as a teen he was absolutely phenomenal! I was absolutely gutted at the news of his passing. Would love more Slipknot/Joey reactions. May he RIP, your music will live on forever legend 🖤🔥
Oh man, that buttersmooth 180 vertical stick draw @ 4:21 makes me lose my mind, that timing/meaning to that part. Just insane. what a legend he was
This is my favorite song by them and I NEVER get tired of hearing it
Joey has always been a hug inspiration to me growing up.
RIP Joey 🙏🤘
Slipknot put on a hell of a show; great stage presence. I saw them once in 2009 just after the release of All Hope Is Gone. One of my favorite concerts to date.
You should check out their song "Spit it Out" performed live at Download Festival 2009. This video is of the whole band, not just Joey, but it will give you a great example of their whole stage show. They are truly a one of a kind band.
Yup I need to see the whole band now for sure
Hard agree probably one of their best performances
Watch the whole Download 2009 show, they were at their best and just before Paul Gray (bassist) passed away
Your respect for joey is epic. For someone who had never heard of slipknot , thank you for your respect , and honoring him with a watch worthy review.
Thanks Nathan!
RIP Joey
Love your content mate 🙏🏼
The stick twirls at 3:20ish always make me smile, dude was feeling this shit
"Get them devil horns up in the air".... proceeds to sip coffee hahah. Literally watching this man become a bigger fan with every video!
This guy shaped my drummer career and changed my fuckin LIFE!!!! That part your talking about "open handed", yeah, he's hitting the high-hat with his right hand and then dropping it on the snare as he hits the highhat with his left hand. Miss playing to these songs!!!!!
I love how excited you are about watching this! Makes me smile man. More of this great commentary please! Keep up the great work Andrew.
Love to see that you are enjoying this. Listening to them back in high school brings back a lot of good memories.
Yes WE ARE, I LOVE MY JOEY!!!!! SUCH A TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL SOUL
Indeed
his solo in sulpher is next level.
Thanks Ben. I'll try and check it out!
I was never into drums really, but joey literally changed the game single handedly for me. Imo hes the best performing drummer on stage period.
Awesome!
House of Blues, Las Vegas, 2005. Man what a show. Thank you Joey 🙏🏻
I was there!!! They played skin ticket for the first time in a while! I have tons of pictures!
Midwest passion right here 🤘🏻 R.I.P Joey, you'll forever be a legend to the metal community and Iowa ✊🏼
AWESOME! I have to get that snare!
Check out Creeping death with Metallica Joey cam. There´s a great demonstration of the drummer he was. RIP maestro #1
^ This! ^
Yup, that is a good one, it shows that with just a few hours of rehearsing he was able to drive Metallica, even on a kit that was setup for Lars Ulrich, so totally different than Joey's setup.
i was thinking the same: he should check what he did to metallica, haha
you wont get any hate from us slipknot fans. everyone's welcome the more the better enjoying their music. i suggest you look at spit it out live at download and you will get a feel for the whole band and some drum acrobatics.
love the work
It's possibly the most energetic moments in music history as far as I can see!
Seen them 4x live. First 3 with Joey. Then thought Jay was just a half speed Joey and not impressed... but he's definitely gotten faster and better since
There was a point in my life during middle/highschool, or grades 6-12, that I was able to drum this entire song from memory. Loved Joey.
If you ever get the chance to see them live I highly recommend you do so. Hands down one of the best bands to see live. I've seen em 4 times now 5th show coming up soon can't wait!
No one will hate you it only brings us extreme happiness to see someone start to experience slipknot especially joey
We all love and miss Joey. Huge influence. Great video. Rip Legend.
4:22 best move ever !
Yo Alexandre!
Glad youve found and are enjoying the knot bro! Long live Joey and Paul
R.i.p Joey
He was a influence to all our us drummers out there and a great musician.
The excess of love you're giving Joey just got my sub.
metal makes my soul smile it flows through my blood my hole body gets a feeling that no other music drug or food makes me feel. i love it and it’s great to watch someone’s soul feel it and love it. it’s awesome do t stop there’s plenty of other metal bands that will wake ur soul up.
Again, thanks for honoring this legend - RIP Joey
Tony
Joey is like a COD sniper using quick aim.. and this is a compliment... he hits the drums spot on hit after hit. RIP.... now you aren't a living legend anymore... you became a drum god!
It's so amazing to see Joey doing to you, what he did to me when I was in middle school discovering them for the first time. I'm loving all these videos. Thanks again man.
Always loved Slipknot since the beginning! I love it when creditable musician find that it's just not all gimmick with these guys. Past or present, they have an always will have incredible musicianship! :)
I am a huge fan of Joey and have been for years and i love that people still find out about slipknot and his work he was truely a talent. Slipknot is the band that started me on my metal journey. Would love to see you react to their performance of Spit it Out (live)
I watched all 3 of your joey videos up tel now and your smile keeps growing... 🤟🤟
22 years I've been listening to them....and joey ...is one of the best if not THE. RIP my friend.
Not only was Joey a world class drummer, he played a huge part in the song writing and structure of their songs. All of Slipknot members assigned numbers to themselves in the band. Joey was #1 for a reason 🤟🏼
Fricking awesome! He was absolutely amazing! RIP Joey🌹
Yes Amanda! 🙌
I love how you are so into it now compared to the first Joey vid you made 🙌🏻🙌🏻😂😂 so good literally seeing you warm up to it. I’m sure there are many more people like you who would love their music but never thought to listen and are discovering it right now. RIP Joey ❤️🔥
Rock on🤘🏼
This drum cam is from the Disasterpieces concert DVD. Every member has their own cam view. 2002 That's the drum solo someone commented on in a earlier video.
the crazy thing is this energy is the through the whole show
It is going to be a long time until we see someone that influences drum techniques the way Joey has. It will be long after we are all gone before the world truly realizes the contribution to music Joey gave to us. Number 1 is a true metal legend we have lost one of the greatest musicians to ever live. I love and miss you so much Joey I am glad I got to see you play 2 times when Slipknot was at their prime.
If you notice when he's playing the Open hand part he is playing down stroke on downbeat and upstroke on hi hat with snare hit on the upbeat
