    Ugh this makes me want the Leica Q-P even more. I hope eventually they come out out with a Q2-p eventually so I can just save and get that. I loveeeee the look of the Q-P, the matte black with no red dot is 👌🏼

    • @luischavezphoto
      @luischavezphoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That would the sweet! The Q-P is a beautiful camera. I’m surprised that’s not the look they went with on the Leica Q2.

    • @StapediusReflex
      @StapediusReflex 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m definitely with you on that. I’ve been wanting a Q-P but I want the weather resistance and some of the button/ergonomic changes of the Q2. I’d also prefer the Q-P sensor honestly...

    • @Holl.Mvrk.
      @Holl.Mvrk. 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@StapediusReflex I’ve heard a lot of people say they’ve taken the Q-P out in weather and it’s stood up. They just gaff tape the holes for mic and what not. Leica just needs to put the Q2P out already 😂😂😂😂

    I don't own a Q2, but the settings you explained align quite similarly to my Fuji. I'm usually in spot metering (when shooting BW) or multi (when street), I've never tried center weighted, but if it can help expose my images similar to yours I'll definitely give it a try sometime!

    • @luischavezphoto
      @luischavezphoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Center-weighted is my go-to! I just rock the exposure comp dial to adjust accordingly. I still have to get use to under exposing on the Q2 since it does retain shadows better than highlights.

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@luischavezphoto if only it had the expose for highlight feature on the gr3 yeh? xD

    • @GenEric94
      @GenEric94 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve always been a little confused about exposure compensation. Can you explain? Or talk about your technique. Newer into photography but I always focused on iso, shutter, and aperture

    • @JayRegular
      @JayRegular 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GenEric94 I'll see if I can make a short video about exposure compensation on of these days

    • @MrJueKa
      @MrJueKa 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JayRegular I am an ambitious hobbyist and for my on- and off-camera speedlight photography, I have the camera and TTL system speedlight in center-weighted TTL mode and only control the exposure and light output using the camera's exposure compensation and the speedlight's flashlight compensation and because I've gotten used to it very well everything is quick, easy and smooth with usually one up to three speedlights both on location and indoors in my living room studio, maximum two or three fast slightly different shots, done.
      I would therefore be very interested in whether and how well this can be done with the Leica Q2 Monochrom either, because this camera would be completely sufficient for my type of photography, as I have been doing almost 90% of my photography in black and white since the 1980s, mainly street, people and portrait photografie.
      Speedlight photography is something I'm missing from almost all the camera tests and reviews on TH-cam, apparently it doesn't seem to be in demand anymore for whatever reason, which I would very much regret, because imo it's fantastic to always have your own sun or full moon with you, but sometimes even a simple LED flashlight or the low beam of a car is all I need, one of the advantages of black and white photography.

    Very informative. Question: You have your settings in AFs, Center Weight and Field, with the Wheel setting as Exp. Comp (as I do). When I use the EVF and adjust to one of the 3 Focus Patch Size on the wheel, I’m unsure how to get the wheel back to Exp. Comp. Kindly advise. Thanks!

    Hi, I own a q2 and I listened to your video but you talk so fast I can’t figure out my best settings. I am an amateur but I love photography. So I’m finding that my pictures are not in focus all over. I like to take street shots randomly and quickly but this camera is frustrating me. They are blurry. Do you have written instructions of how I should set my camera settings for different situations?

  • @TCCR

    What are your overall thoughts on the thumb grip? Does it ever get in the way or fall out of the hot shoe? Also, is that the Leica thumb grip or a third party? Thanks!
    Also also, I’m new to the Q2 and didn’t know you could change the size of the focus point. So I learned something today. 🙏🏻

    I love your video! I have one question: Do you set your right wheel to exposure compensation all the time? I’m having a hard time setting it up. It does not make sense to set it to “auto” since it let you set up f-number under P mode instead. I would like to keep the wheel in exposure compensation all the time, but then there will be no way to set up the shutter speed

    • @luischavezphoto
      @luischavezphoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi! Yes I do. If I need to change shutter speed, I just use the shutter speed where on the top of the camera.

    Thanks for the helpful video. I have two question s🙋🏻‍♂️ about the camera sittings for the Q2.
    I am trying a combination for street photography. It is aperture priority with an limited Auto ISO that has minimum shutter speed of 1/250.
    My questions are :
    1- If I put my shutter speed dial on Auto with the combination I mentioned above , the shutter speed keeps going slower than the minimum shutter speed I set with the Auto ISO . Do you have a solution for that ? I mean I want Auto shutter speed and Auto ISO but it is not working with me.
    2- What is the best exposure preview for such combination? I mean I cannot have a real time exposure preview with that combination. I read the manual and it is not working. In many cases I under exposed my pictures because of that . It is so frustrating .
    It would be great if you could help me .
    Thanks 🙏

    Hey man! Thanks for the video. Just got the Leica Q2. Quick question re live exposure preview. I’ve come from Sony and Fuji systems and my experience has always been the exposure I see before I take the shot is the same exposure the final photo has. I’ve noticed in my Q2 that some of the shots I’m taking gets a much higher exposure than what I see in EVF/LCD. It seems to bump it up even if I set exposure comp to 0. Not sure what I’m missing since I’ve fiddled with all the settings too. Let me know if you might have any tips!

    • @luischavezphoto
      @luischavezphoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Bryan! I find that the Leica Q2 tends to do better in the shadows so I often times underexpose around 1/2 a stop to a full stop. It’s a little different from Sony and Fuji but eventually it gets easier to expose. Thanks for watching!
