Thanks for bringing up the history of our Belgian Fries! You should one day visit our country and go to a ‘frituur’ and try frietjes with stoofvleessaus and a frikandel!
Everything looks delicious except the price. The Gnocchi is a no for me even at $10 it is store bought Gnocchi and I can't justify paying that for a pasta you can get for $2 at a Trader Joe's. Thank you for doing this video. I don't and won't buy something just because a so-called influencer is show casing it. Feels inauthentic to me. I trust you and your recommendations. I am wondering did you eat / film this all-in-one day???? I am always amazed at how much you can eat that is a compliment. P.s Milano Market on the UWS / Morningside Heights has a-mazing Italian sandwiches worth a visit. Bon Appetit!
It’s almost like those places have to pay the same insane rent prices that everyone else in the city does you actually think they want to charge those prices when people like you exist
Good fries can be so worth it, had Bel Fries on my list but didn't end up near one on holiday. Nice too see my two favourite NY TH-camrs, great video Jon & AK 🗽🎉
Omg I saw you at Lafayette making a video, but I was too afraid to come up to you😅😅😅 thanks for your videos they helped me to survive in NYC this vacation ha ha
I believe the the bread at All' Antico is a Tuscan bread style called schiacciata which is a little different than focaccia. I think their sandwiches are great, but if you're ever back in NJ try to check out Farinolio in Westfield. Their version of schiacciata is lighter and crispier and I like it a lot more. They also have amazing Italian pastries. My wife and I generally go into the city for great food, but we always say that Farinolio can hang with the best of NYC.
Has nobody mentioned that the gnocci place is a rip-off of this hole-in-the-wall in Montreal's Mile-End ? It's called Drogheria Fine, it is 5$ gnoccis with tomato sauce and parm, in the same chinese to-go box. It's been here for 10 years, featured in bon appetit and every tourist's must do list.
There you go with AK, it is a great vids of my two fav youTuber❤ The fries and lafayette croissants are amazing to look at😮 watching you guys from PH🇵🇭😊
Fabulous as always. Good to see Action man back with you on this ep. TikTok is such a great platform to influence food trends and styles. I felt full after watching you taste all those offering…😂. ❤❤❤
As a Belgian-American, I love the double fried fries in the paper cone, typical Belgian. But for the love of all that is sacred to our fries, leave all the extras behind and just eat them with mayonnaise 😊 If you ever make it out here, I'll show you around 😊
I must say though, fries are actually peruvian/indigenous and south American. They were the first people to fry sliced potatoes. It seems like eurocentrism to give credit to Belgians and Europeans
Well since the Americans were in Europe for wars etc, I think that they figured that was where fries originated. I'm sorry but Americans weren't hanging out in South America much way back in the day. I've never once heard this bit of info. When did this start?@@greenmachine5600
Oh my that supremely enjoyable - I want that croissant! A lot of these, I would make into two meals and supplement with my own food from the grocery store.
For 4 years I've lived just a few blocks away from Bel Fries and surprisingly I've never tried them! Just the idea of a pile of fries and sauce never appeals to me as an entire meal. Definitely seems to be a popular spot for the late night bar crowds for obvious reasons. One of these days I'll have to give it a try and perhaps split with a friend, it does look good!
As a Belgian on this channel i must say It's cool that they give it a name like BELfries But here... Fries are alot different with their sauces For instance, we always eat our Fries with samurai or sometimes with mayonaise When the fries are crispy and salty, that means you have a good friet (----- Flemish word for fries) I've eaten some fries in different kind of cities, even new york, and it could not really stand next to the fries over here As for services... New York people who work behind the counter, are extremely nice and kind Some of that we really dont see it often in some restaurants or stores here Next year i'm heading back to new york So i'm gonna try this restaurant to see if it lives up to the expection of our Fries 1 small tip for everybody that are reading this and decides to visit.... Do not buy fries in big name cities like Brussel or Antwerp Because they ask alot of money Instead... Go look for a frituur in 1 of the smaller cities surrounding them They coast alot less and they are much tastier 😊
those all Antico sandwiches are huge and i could tell they are fulling it's something you can split in a day. lunch and dunner the price is worth it to me i have to try it it's good they have 5 locations in the city.
I had Bel Fries at their stand at the Bastille Day fest. Glad to learn they have a storefront! (I'm late)... The fries are totally worth the price for a filling treat, in my opinion.
The thing is with the fries, You only get the sauces on the top. The one's in the middle and bottom, have nothing on them. I also think they are way overpriced for what you are getting.
Dear Sir, I would like to thank you for your informative videos. They were very useful during our resent visit to NYC. You are completely right with Times Square, that place is completely overrated. We went and we instantly regrated it. Again your advises in regards transportation, ferries and food were extremely valuable.
Looks like fun hang out / activity - follow TikTokers😀 Im not that brave 😂 Btw that salad based on ingredients pretty much a poke bowl rather than salad.
That's the best salame you ever had because... it's not salame. It's "sbriciolona" (or finocchiona), a typical cured meat from Florence and Tuscany which is aromatized with fennel.
In-n-out fries is the worst on the market, can't understand why they don't do it good? Its like eating cardboard, animal style it covers it up a little. I like the burgers though....
In-N-Out Burger in California does the original animal fries for three bucks.. and from the looks of it I'd be disappointed with those fries in New York. Casting no shade to the great city of New York however New York style pizza in California you'd be disappointed to
As someone who lives enxt to Bel Fries gotta disagree. But they are one of the few places do belgium style. The best fry in New York is at Dame/Lords and is their "proper" british chips.
Please check out the InKETOble Café. They are going to close doors next week. Cafés like this are so important. Because as a diabetic we don't have a lot of choices to eat outside.
Store-bought gnocchi - disgusting! And they sell that crap for 10$?! For home made - real ones I'd give 20$... but trust me, there is no worse thing than store bought gnocchi (nothing to do with real gnocchi and it ruins every sauce/dish).
Remember to include the price of the Drink (no tip) Overrated I could buy all those ingredients for 14 dollars and a bag of potatoes 🥔 for 6 dollars. No there a SIDE DISH😅 2. GINNOCHI 10 is a No. 3. Looks good Not for 10. to pricey, I would try tibia with another person split 4. NO 5. Upscale French Bakery looks good Too PRICY for average person. Thank you ☺️

Thanks for taking me on this adventure! TikTok actually has some amazing food recommendations now.
Loved the honesty from both of you, especially on the gnocchi! 👍
You’ve done well AK! I enjoyed watching you and Jon together.😊
Always a fun collab
Always love seeing you on the channel.
Been following since day 1 bro (not literally) haha. Might as well start doing food reviews lol

Belgians cook this frites in beef tallow.
It makes a big difference.

I love this video Jon, good Job😁
Was fun to see all these & hear your & AK opinions.
This was fun to see & experience. Thank you for doing what you do!

@@gavinurbano67 They are making profit even if they charge 6 dollars for that store bought knocci. It's just greed.
Can get the same thing minus the burrata in Montreal for $5 CAD. Chinese takeout box and everything too.
@@gavinurbano67 This is my opinion and my opinion only. There’s never any need to be rude.

I remember when Pommes Frites opened in the east village back in the 90s and everyone called them Crack Fries because we couldn't stop eating them!
Where at? Is that the same as the pomme fries on macdougal st?
@@miket7745 It was on 2nd Ave before it blew up (literally).
@@ehmmmjay9907 oh damn! And whatever happened to that place on st marks? They had good fries but suddenly closed down out of nowhere about 8 years ago
Jon's friend was more honest about his critiques - value for the money, condiments used, etc. I'm glad he's not just pitching every item.
Those italian sandwiches were 🔥
Sending greetings from Slovakia
I have been dying to try ThisBowl so thanks for the video!
I'm looking forward to trying one of these places Jon !
I’m definitely trying some of these places when I come back to New York. Especially Lafayette, that pistachio dessert is speaking to me
Oh man some of these look so good. Super excited to see AK doing this with you, Jon! I always enjoy him on your channel. Thank you!!🥰🙏🏻
The background music is great too. Nice video 👍

When Jon takes a bite and goes "MMMPH" you know it's good
Inflation keeps on happening and it gets weirder, the older you get. $10 being a "cheap" lunch blows my mind.
Yep

11 quid for dirty fries! That's bonkers.
Fishbowl costs half as much in Australia! I'm shocked. I'm excited to try Belfries
Now, I feel hungry for any of these snacks. Gosh!!!
Love your channel! Would love more vids like this :) And fun fact! "ThisBowl" is called "FishBowl" in Australia
I was about to say that All’Antico is often a between show stop on a two show day for a fairly cheap but filling sandwich close to the theatres

any recommendations for a good doener in NYC for someone who's from Europe and missing a good Doener so much :P?

$14 for fries???? Wow

No when you pull out a phone they don’t see the value. You’re making them uncomfortable, put them on the spot, and force them to be performers.
They are just called 'fries' all over Belgium and the Netherlands. This is nothing new. They don't cost anywhere near $12-13. That's just ridiculous.
