I love how Mark Knopfler just looks so nonchalant, bored even, while he's dominating that guitar. It's awesome.

Beyond total mastery of his guitar. No words, in my opinion, to describe the genius of Mark and what he does with an axe. He makes the impossible look EASY as he doesn't even break one bead of sweat as he rips off the most fantastic riffs.

That intro is so frickin badass, I think I've watched it a bazillion times. I think my heart stopped for a few seconds. Holy mother of God!...He looks so freaking hot!!!! He just owns the stage! Like a King! At 0:32 when he gets that sound just by doing whatever on the fret, so hot! and then from 0:52 to 0:54 just those few notes... and his look?! Killer!
That "whatever" is just him doing hammer on and vibrato
@@Ozzie143 Late, but thank you for that! He just places it so perfectly. Since the time I flipped out on this intro, I have managed to see him live, last summer. Glad I did, I don't think he is going to tour anymore. The boy can still play!

Over in England, all their great guitarists revere and recognize the true great talents of Mark Knopfler. Regrettably, it's in the U.S. where if you found someone who knew who Knopler is, almost all would say something like, "Oh yeah, didn't he have some hits in the eighties?" It is true and regrettable that the U.S. music scene is controlled for the most by corporations and air play of songs is programmed by pinheads who are only interested in their stations numbers. Knopler is one hell of a great singer-songwriter but especially a phenomenal guitarist.

My God this was not band it is THE BAND, what a performance, 2 drummers, everybody from Straits knows the business. This guy on Steel Pedal Guitar is so cool...I don t know what the youth of today listen, is Lady Gaga still in or whoever because i don t use TV. I am happy that am grow on this stuff. Maybe is this music education reason why i am stil normal while people around me eat some crazy pills and kills them self with chinese wodka and beer from 2 liter plastic bottle for 2 Marks.

simon grech in case you forgot Gilmour IS Pink Floyd so he probably sold like ten times more than Knopfler but I love them both

Knopfler is an awesome songwriter, (plus his unconventional guitar tecnique), Gilmour has a great "feeling" too; but he has a
wonderfull voice... and most of all he 's been part of Pink Floyd; I luv them both but you cant compare any Dire Straits work w a thing like "the wall" or "Animals" (or DSOTM);

Most of the Metal people would say Steve Vai, Satriani or Malmstein, but 4 me Mark is still Nr 1 in subject E Guitar i know something about music i played Bass my own. He is so Gentleman in hes playing, he don t need to play with tongue, ass or dick to prove hes skill. Is not that i say he theoretic cannot, guess he can do it with everything, but he just don t need it. He is like conductor on stage, a manager that every one else looks to Mark before own solo... Kinda like daddy can i do my own game for little while?
