Great video! I watched it before i did my head gasket and followed same steps. Just had to take the head off again and yesterday due to no compression in #4 cylinder from a broken exhaust valve and found out the radiator doesnt have to be removed, I just took the top timing cover off undid the tensioner and removed the top of the timing belt from cam sprocket so i can get the head off and I just unbolted the intake and exhaust from the head and moved them to the side so i could remove the head. I had the head off in 25 mins. Definitely saves time. And I just removed the serpentine belt from the fan pulley and didnt touch the alternator.
Hey man, I know your comment is old. But thanks for the tip. I have to do the head gasket on my long bed b2000. I’m no mechanic so I’m nervous about doing the job.
Hi Jay, you sure are doing a good job taking that engine apart. I have seen a blown head gasket on an 1955 IH R160 truck. I want to see part 2 when you put the engine back together. Nice video, Pete
The head is probably warped slightly anyway, best to install the reman'd one you have. I saw a 350 do that and engines run horrible when they blow between two cylinders.
if only i had belt vs chain. it's a whole different ball game. '82 Mazda B2000 here. removing head gasket 😔 edit: prefer chain over belts but job is easier on belts. to remove chain requires more to be done but i'll getter done
I have seen that before you are lucky it didn't cut a groove between those two in the block, I saw a 350 not long ago with head gasket blowed between 2 cylinders with a deep grove cut in the block.
Is it possible that the head gasket could be a reason for losing do much oil? I have a 86 Mazda b2200, and I've replaced my oil pan gasket, valve gasket, front main seal, and the o-ring in my distributor cap, and my valve seals. I'm Still losing oil. I know I'm burning it as well so that I know it's my piston rings. I go through 5 quartz of oil ever two weeks. Any suggestions what else it could be?
Is there oil in your air cleaner housing? If so, it may be pulling it in through the crankcase ventilation system and burning it. There isn't any oil going through the head gasket, only water.
I love it when a problem is fairly easy to see and fix.
Thanks Pete, it's almost a pleasure working on this truck compared to my full size trucks!
you can spray copper permatec in a spray can on the head gasket it will help to seal

Yeah and that's on 6 cylinders. I can't believe this one ran at all!

Hey I put a head gasket on "86" B2000 now no oil getting to valves whats up with this?
Hi Farmboy,do you know of any book (repair manual)for the mazda b2200?
thank you
Haynes and Chilton makes them.
there;s 6 bolts inside the botton pulley....
Yes I did take that out and notice it. So that means I need a new head gasket?
Check your pcv valve, it's probably stuck.
I guess I did get lucky!

I was expecting much worse.
