It actually works well, because despite the marketing, Kuai Liang and Scorpion were rarely rivals. They were for a brief period in MK9 where he wanted to avenge his brother, and for like, five seconds in MK2. It was revived briefly in MK4, but that was it.

He'd tolerate Donny due to him being the smartest. He'd be annoyed at Mikey at first, but due to Mikey's child like qualities he'd probably bond with him as surrogate. As for Splinter respect not just from one Grandmaster to another, but from one dad to another.

I love that over time Kuai Liang and Honzo went from bitter enemies to almost adoptive brothers for each other.

I feel for Liu Kang because all he knows is "Fight till the job is done." Now that he's taken Raiden's place, he doesn't have time for Kitana or Kung Lao or any of the things he did before his "Chosen One" days.
It reminds me of his ending in MK4 when he declined ruling Edenia alongside Kitana.

Was that a reference to mk 9 when he told him to spare sub zero (bi-han) and he would get his family back or somthing like that? I missed out on 10 for the most part and forget in 11 if that interaction happened between the two.

Specially Raiden said that he would petition for Hanzo’s clan and family to be restored if he spared Bi Han. So when Scorpion was shouting about how Quan Chi costing him his one chance to have his family restored, it was because the later manipulated his emotions with a false image of Bi Han killing his wife and son.

Knowing the Elder Gods, they would have done nothing of the kind, even if Raiden made that request.
To be fair... All Mortal Kombat characters including crossovers backstories lead me to believe that all they ever needed was a hug as a kid.

When Bi-Han asked, “then who will mourn you?” towards Scarlet, I don’t think he meant it as an insult. I think he was putting scarlet since she had nobody by her side from the beginning of her life.
Nah if you look at bi Han interactions. He's like all smoke, 0 chill. So this is more of a insult than anything.

@@Tyrelllonechild123 This was somewhat confirmed in his Deception ending, where it says if he were still Lin Kuei, still human, he would feel pride in his brother, but since him and Smoke are corrupted, they instead kill him.
His characterization in MK11 does indicate there's some part of Bi Han still in there though.

Ugh, transparent skeleton Scorpion was such a fantastic idea. That's my favourite addition to a classic character; they should keep it going for the next few games at least.
I wonder if Cassie and Sonya died, if Scorpion would protect Johnny from making the same mistake he himself made. It would be interesting to see Scorpion when someone he knows has faced the same horrors and may go down the same path.
Yeah that would be good story plot but I don’t think they’ll kill Cassie off or atleast not yet
Honestly I feel like since Sonya is dead they're gonna have Cassie go on a warpath and make tons of bad mistakes and we watch her hurt those closest to her. And then as she finally gets the help she needs they kill her off. I've seen many storylines like this. Not in this series but it does happen a lot. Just a theory though. I love Cassie and Johnny so I hope they get closer after to Sonya's passing.
Reminds me of that scene in Infinity War where Tony Stark was warning Starlord to not make a huge mistake after learning Gamora died from Thanos sacrificing her, since Tony did the same thing after learning Bucky (under influence) killed his parents.

Honestly I love Scorpion and Sub-Zero's character progression. From mortal enemy in MK9, to mutual comrades with slightly begrudging respect in MKX, to genuine friends and allies in MK11.
Especially compared to the pre-MK9 time-line, where they were just mortal enemies from rival clans. (Was gonna do the replace the C with a K motif for clans but when I saw it written, I realized Klan was already a word and it had some pretty heavy connotations.)

It's nice to see that many emotional banters in this game. In MKX, they're almost all threats and taunts. This time, we see warriors actually sharing their sorrows. And the best part is that Scorpion is the man here. Not only he opens up, he also honorably shows his respect for Sub-Zero and others who also had terrible losses. Hasashi sure matured after killing Quan Chi and spending time with Kuai.
Scorpion and Sub-Zero have one of the best rivalries into bromances ever.
