I saw a video where someone got rid of the Y Axis round linear bearings and extended the bed over the Main Frame rails, added 80/20 on each side with new Flat Linear bearings n top of the 80/20. this got rid of any 'squish' that can occur. I guess the other solution is to use beefier Round bearings. I was going to follow your lead and start to modify my 3018 but I decided to pull the trigger on a new CNC and am using the 3018 for PCB drilling and small laser projects which it works great for. I'm still digging your mods though :)
Ordered my 3018 yesterday, already have some many yt CH. You guys have made it so easy to get up to speed before I even have my mill. All very inspiring.
I didn't even notice the backlash error on the straight cuts. A circle should have been cut and measured. That would have been more proof of the success of the work. The test cut was not 2mm deep. It was cut in 4 steps. If I had had a smoothing pass it would have been 3 rounds maximum, or 8 mm was the Acrylic.
I'm a complete noob to CNC and I find your videos very clear/concise and easy to understand.
Thanks for sharing 😎
I love your custom setup with plywood, clever!

Yeah, I'm in the process of designing a new cnc with hopefully 800mm x 800mm bed. Along way of yet though but will be a video on it once started

Is the stl available for download?
Now I will have to check if my new version of the 3018 has those backlash nuts when it arrives. If not I already know where to get them.
Finally got around to using the laser for Norton White tiles, it shows up the backlash on fine circles, time to adjust it out, if I can.
Backlash shows up in dimensional accuracy with a rectangular cut like that. Did you happen to measure that piece?

Thanks for making this video.
hi matt do you have the cad files for the carrage abd sides please thanks
Will upload them shortly. I'll let you know once done
@@Wallworkshop thank you so much I would love to have a go at making it at present I'm upgrading a slandered 3018

You have to grease the lead screws beacuse the steel rod will eat the brass really easly and the backlash will start again and it will be worse
stl ??????
dis nigga keeps it for himself
