    i know i am too late to suggest this. had done complicated upgrades involving extrusion, rather than spending long time disassembling whole thing. we discovered a little trick. pop in 1 nut in. line up hole in middle, catch with bolt. pop in 2nd nut on end, use baling wire (or equivilant) push the nut along the extrusion until you see nut hole, through the frame hole.. (if too much can use same wire to re-align from hole). bolt catch the nut. rinse and repeat with other holes.

    To get more stability on the x-axis remove the bars and bearings and put linear rails and bearings on the two 2020 extrusions. Good job on raising the Z.

      I'm in the middle of doing this exact upgrade to my 3018 and i'm having a ton of trouble finding a way to mount the linear bearings to the extrusion that makes up the vertical framing of the carriage. The bearings pretty much have to be mounted using screws that run through the whole extrusion piece but drilling the holes accurately seems to be impossible without using the CNC to do it lol

    I was wondering in your previous video why you were doing it the hard way.

    I did the same Z- axis upgrade and the same method to give me more space under it. My Z- axis had some backlash from new so I had to buy a replacement antibacklash kit for it the seller on aliexpress would not replace it.

    If you want more clearance about 4 cm more, move the gantry up to the new piece you added

    Did I catch it right? He said the holes in the support pieces he made are 20mm apart? In the vertical, I'm assuming...

      I did. Horizontally they can be any spacing as they just fit in the slot. I just went and checked and I drilled the vertical holes at 20mm but whatever the vertical spacing is on your machine.

    Nice job! I think I'm gonna do the same upgrade.👍

    Would you still have the g-code for the extension part's by any chance bud

      Try this…but check the spacing first. You’d have to extend it to make the broader one. easel.inventables.com/projects/u6ANyyUk5SqKC2qC5XdHyQ

    The point is 10mm rod at X-axis really weak. They use bolt screws to hold rod so XZ axis combo can't work well with deep cut. U can change it to 12 rod and with holder SHF12. Or MGN12 will be better. I fully upgraded mine 3018 pro with MGN12 and alumium Z axis.

      @@djoleat I follow this guy. His upgrade really genius. Mine x and y axis the same with him eccept Z axis. Check this:

      @cHriS 3018 model really weak design for alumium and hard wood. Xz combo and 775 spindle not enough with er11 clamp chuck. So we need to build a lot for it

    Is there any disadvantage using 20x80 alu extrusions instead raising the existing ones?

    • @izemanevobike
      @izemanevobike 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. Actually it's way cleaner and better to use 20x80

    Creo que te has complicado mucho. Yo he ganado la misma altura con coste 0 €. Unicamente elevando todo el conjunto respecto a las bases en las que se desplaza la mesa. Moviendo el conjunto un tornillo hacia arriba.

      I thought about that but wanted it to stay as rigid as possible. I was concerned that just raising it one level would make it less rigid. Also, it was fun! Thanks.
