Doylist explanation: They decided to use Cheng Yi for Buxun. There was probably some kind of deal about how much screen time he was supposed to have, or something like that. 2.well, they were likely cousins of a large but interbred family. it makes sense that similar looks crop up. Imo the immortality pil that Zhang Buxun found is not the real pill (I think it's probably shibei pill, the same pill that been consumed by chen wenjin & friends + Zhang Buxun is live action exclusive only so we'll never have enough explanation about his story). In the end of the day perfect immortality doesn't exist even in Daomu Biji universe. The Zhang clan have a long life because of their special blood & their duty to guard the ultimate make the them extraordinary humans. But they not immortal, the can still die, even Zhang Qilings.
