    My Irish wife once got us a reservation there saying that she represented U2s management and possibly a member of the band would be joining us , asking politely if we could get a secluded table at the last minute on a Saturday night. The waiter knew that we were full of crap but played the game. I loved the place.

      O-toro is a really expensive cut. So honestly for a NYC high end sushi place it would be normal. But what he got didn't seem like it was the same quality, plus the wasabi and whatnot was really cheap quality.

      @@markmower6507 I would look into why sushi is (generally*) safe to consume raw. There are quite a few safeguards.
      * Generally safe in the US, as in the sourcing matters. I would likely say a place like this is just fine. In places like Japan, getting sick from sushi is basically a non issue. Even pregnant people consume it like any other food.

    • @nick_at_nite
      @nick_at_nite 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You obviously have never tried good sushi. Granted, toro is significantly more expensive in US than it is currently in Japan even with a still strong but sinking Dollar/Yen exchange.
      More importantly, UA's street cred just jumped dramatically by zeroing in on the toro in that menu! But, I question that NJ restaurant's ability to produce GOOD rice fitting for toro as well as using proper wasabi. So for that restaurant, it was overpriced. LA has much better toro for $20/2.

I prefer to not do that and rather add some salt in the end like you're doing with the finishing salt here. The contrast with just the meat flavor with the spark of salt and the texture. This steak looks perfect - they care about what they're making.

    Hi UA, another great steakhouse in New Jersey is Rod's Steak house. Rod's is located in Morristown, NJ. Rod's has been in business for a long time, close to Drew University.

    There used to be a River Palm Terrace right outside of Fair Lawn on the highway. The steaks are fine but I preferred the lamb chops there

    Marbleization: mar·ble·iza·tion, mär-bə-lə-ˈzā-shən: the process of becoming or the condition of being veined or marked like marble. In the case our steak, it is intensely streaked with fatty veins that are the signatures of a great ribeye! Although misspelled on the menu, this is a real word used in the correct context to accurately describe the menu item. The use of the term "marbleization" was no mis-STEAK!

    It's probably good that they put the onion strings on top of the steak because some of the grease strips on the steak and then you just shove the onion strings off to the side when ready to eat

    You should check out Steve’s Sizzling Steaks in Carlstadt. They have a super loyal following and it can be a long wait. Just beware of maybe not getting their signature “Sizzling” style as the jus they put on can be overwhelmingly salty.

    Always salt that steak with your fingers not the spoon, like you did the second time. It’s your salt. And I’m having Toro tonight and the place I go in New Jersey is amazing and it’s $13 per piece, so same. Also salmon belly at $11 per piece. And I agree with you never ever sauce a good steak. My sushi dinner tonight will be around $175 for two people, Excellent quality sushi is not cheap and it is considerably better. Always get the good stuff if you can.
