at them prices i could buy my own tomahawk chop, cook it to perfection, feed a group of people, and still have money left over lol great video, btw. hope to see some great stuff from you!
Honestly I find greed nauseating, the owner clearly doesn’t want to get it, and definitely a narcissist. But hey, we will see if it continues or if it goes like the other two did. The steak looked tasty, but nothing special, not worth mentioning the rest, but glad the service was attentive. Thank you James, another review that was honest and on point.👍❤
And you seem to forget that for higher end restaurants, the most important element is the service, then the ambiance, the third only is the food. Listen to Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White and they told that in some docus about their restaurant(s).
@@khoi83 The “Food” is what will bring you customers or kill your business, you can have a hole in the wall, if the food is great, they will come! James, I loved your review of Nusr -Et. Actually I may go there if ever in NYC again, for the lunch menu and a drink. Thank you so much! I love your videos.
Thanks James! Loved the dandruff problem comment. In spite of the fact that Nusr-Et is struggling globally because of its prices, I have seen very few reviews damning its quality and service. This is the real reason it continues to exist. Price aside, it is not a bad dining experience. The question forl Nusr-Et to survive is to find a better accommodation to the customers. Will he do that, I doubt it.
Thank you for watching! Yeah, the service was excellent and the restaurant is a good looking place, but with such high prices, it's understandable that people would go elsewhere.
I enjoyed the humorous tone of this video far more than I expected to lol. Now I can't get the image of a baklava involved in a small scale street fight out of my mind haha. I guess Salt Bae's restaurants are mostly for diners who want to show off to their companions, which I cannot relate to at all but to each their own. At least you got to meet the guy... I mean with the price of that meal, you basically paid for his personal appearance! 😅
As always I appreciated the thoughtful, comprehensive, and fair review. I like to clown on Salt Bae and his restaurants a lot for the ridiculous antics of the man and his absurd prices that are obviously an appeal to the super rich to frequent his restaurants mostly for social capital. That $25 slice of baklava that was 3mm wide was just a slap in the face. That kind of naked greed is an element of fine dining that I hate unequivocally, but I do think it's commendable of them to offer a reasonably priced lunch special, and it's always good to see a restaurant that places a high priority on quality customer service. If they can shift their attention to delivering value for money and away from catering to "whales" with gimmicky 10,000% markup steaks and a charismatic celebrity CEO sprinkling rock salt on your head and all over your shirt sleeves at the table, then I think the company could have some legs.
Thanks for the review, James. I find it difficult to take Salt Be seriously, and in fact am somewhat offended by him. The prices and celebrity are so obviously contrary to what true restaurateurs and food lovers believe in. He is taking advantage of the ignorant monied (which isn’t all bad) but what he represents goes totally against my ethical compass.
The reason the restaurant was empty is because most people understand that it’s a complete ripoff.
There are really only two types of people who go to places like this: those wanting to try it once, like you did, and those who are desperately trying to impress other people.

Gold leaf isn't even that expensive. The amount you get on the steak isn't worth more than $20 yet they charge far more for the privilege.
The reason people do things like eat gold is to generate social status which they then convert into other more practical things like Reputation, Sex/romance and bussiness opportunities in more money.

I have zero interest in Salt Bae’s, I’d rather go to Ruth Chris or Fleming’s before going there.
Keep up the great videos!
Please do try Demonico's. You will not be disappointed.
Thank you! Yeah, definitely go to Delmonico's if you have the chance.
Saturday at a Cajun butcher / deli I was shocked to see a tomahawk steak for $75. Now it's looking like a bargain. Maybe I'll buy 2 and send one your way lol. Thanks again for another enjoyable review.
Haha! Thanks for watching!
I worked as a server at the NYC, Miami, and Dallas locations. AMA! Lol.
FYI the baklava is not fresh, it's flown in weekly from a small balery in Turkey. Very good, but not fresh.
Thanks for sharing!
at them prices i could buy my own tomahawk chop, cook it to perfection, feed a group of people, and still have money left over lol
great video, btw. hope to see some great stuff from you!
Thank you!
Thank you so much!
Yes and no. He never forced anyone to eat at his restaurant (s).
And you seem to forget that for higher end restaurants, the most important element is the service, then the ambiance, the third only is the food.
Listen to Gordon Ramsay and Marco Pierre White and they told that in some docus about their restaurant(s).
@@khoi83 Never said that, curious where you came up with that comment?
@@khoi83 The “Food” is what will bring you customers or kill your business, you can have a hole in the wall, if the food is great, they will come! I’ve known restaurateurs personally, and that is what they learned. So I don’t know if you misinterpreted what Gordon said, or he was having an off moment, because he knows if the food isn’t the number one priority, you will not remain open. Cheers
Without any need to see the video, the answer is simply yes. Than again, it's rich people who get ripped and that's what they are there for. No other use for them.
For over $50 for 3 shrimp they’d have to be Tiger Prawns for me to be willing to pay that price.
I know what you mean.
It better be organic tiger prawns, and even then, I would need 10 on the plate for the $50 price tag
You have really innovated the game of food reviews, blending good writing and food insight.
Thank you! I really appreciate it!
For one person, the price of dining at Salt Bae’s steakhouse is absolutely overkill compared to like say, $200 for four people at Peter Luger.
Indeed!
Zero chance 4 people are having a full meal with drinks and a 20% gratuity for $200 at Peter Luger. Double that, maybe.
@@modelcitizen1977 we average just a pinch under $180 per person at peter Luger...frequent stop..we could lower it with conscious selections.. but why go if you are not ordering what you want..great steak
150$ and they didn't even have some complimentary bread 😢
James, I loved your review of Nusr -Et. Actually I may go there if ever in NYC again, for the lunch menu and a drink. Thank you so much! I love your videos.
Thank you! I hope that you enjoy it.
Was that John Cusack walking by in the background at 1:55? 😮
❤❤❤❤😂😂😂 had to be
Confirmed
Your comment about people's grubby little fingers and the baklava street fight cracked me up! Glad you had "an experience" there!
Haha! Yeah, it was definitely an experience! Thanks for watching!
Fascinating, and an outstanding choice to share given that so many viewers are not likely to have the dining experience, even in NYC.
Thank you!
I agree 100%. I ran a top steakhouse for years. I'm not paying just because. Nope!
Indeed!
Very informative, well-founded and precise review. Great!
@@HolgerHettinger Thank you!
You'd have to take out a loan just to eat there😅
Thanks James!
I guess it is pretty expensive, but at least you tried it out. Thanks James!
Thanks always for watching! I appreciate it!
You left a 20% tip, was that appreciated by the waiters? @@Jamesnu
Place should be renamed to 'Broad Daylight Robbery' sounds more fitting 😅
Dont talk about expensive, just say GREED.
I was hoping for an honest video of the restaurant!!! Thank you!!
Thanks for watching!
Wow that didn't seem worth the price. It was cool that you got a pic with Salt Bae.
Yeah, it was definitely overpriced.
Haha! Yeah, I'm not a fan of places that people go to to show off.
$25 for baklava is insulting
It's honestly pretty neat that Salt Bea himself came out to salt bae
"Grubby little hands" 🤣
Well said!
Salt Bae's is an excuse of a steakhouse.
I think he had his time in the sun and now people are looking past the glitz to the substance. Well done for not laughing at the baklava presentation!
Haha! Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous.
I know what you mean.
About the $108K bill, it was of 20 Formula 1 drivers. It was a sendoff dinner for Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton paid the check.
yeah but 5 still water for $250?
Frankly, I think all steakhouses are ripoffs. 🤷♂️
Saltbae only reminds me that Sobieski didn't really get the job done back in 1683. 😂
He is still around???????
WOW another amazing review thank you
Thank you!
You should have sprinkled Maldon Salt off your arm.
Haha! I managed to get the salt on my steak and that's what I care most about.
