I know her coaches are from France and that might be why she’ll compete in Paris but I think she might be at a different place in her life. She’s married, maybe wanting to think about a family and she has absolutely nothing to prove! She is and always will be the GOAT!! Hopefully we’ll see her on at least a couple events in Paris🤞🏻🇺🇸

Biles is amazing. She shows that you can continue competing as you get older. She has even improved. Simone has shown physical and mental strength. This proves that age is not a hurdle in gymnastics.
She’s such a pleasure to watch on each element. Most gymnasts have one or two elements that they are really strong on but Simone has mastered all of them. That’s so rare. She’s an amazing combination of power and grace.

WRONG!!!! NADIA COMANECI is the GOAT!!! Nadia got 10 in the Olypmics. Simone has never gets perfect scores because she seldom sticks her landings!!! It really bugs me that Simone gets medals for stepping or hopping on a landing, but the stuck landing of the next competitor, only gets her the silver medal.
Sticking a landing is a small part of an overall exercise..it seems that it pains you to admit that this young lady is heads and shoulders above the rest..past and present.

No. Simone Biles is the ONLY woman gymnast to ever do it on vault and it is named after her in the code of points along with 5 other VERY difficult skills. That said, I don’t understand why “twisties” are characterized as a mental health problem vs a neurological problem. Granted, once you lose your position in space, future efforts would require overcoming obstacles of fear that it would repeat. But the underlying issue seems to be vestibular and proprioceptive, not mental health.
I think she was looking for a healthy balance between the singular focus of a lifetime of results oriented, intensive training and the mental exhaustion and pressure of fame that goes with it and finding a new way to bring back the enjoyment of it by failing and it being okay.....subconsciously it was wearing heavy on her. For those who have trained for performance at this level they all know, it's 99% mental.
@@DubLubb I’m not questioning the mental toll or benefit of addressing it. I’m saying specifically, the loss of awareness of position in space strikes me as a purely physiological condition where one’s neurology, ie vestibular system-eyes, proprioceptors, inner ear-can no longer assist you in locating up from down and landing safely. This is what I don’t understand characterizing as a mental health problem, except the part where it would scare the beegeezus out of any sane person.
@@Trenchant468 the information sent from the vestibular is processed in the brain....if the cpu is running hot from overloading in its other tasks it would be impossible to say its purely a temporarily bad sensor. In fact I think it most definitely is NOT isolated from the mental sum in this case. Girls been through some trauma and I think the way she handled it, bowing out, gave her the skill to cope. There goes that girl again, always developing new skills.
@@DubLubb The vestibular system is in the brain. It’s consists of a complex communication of neurons between the inner ear, visual perception, and proprioceptors (from the peripheral nervous system). This is altogether physiological, not a mental health issue. Perhaps if your autonomic nervous system is overloaded from stress and high demands, it might influence its function. And I’d be the first to say having this issue would lead to a fear response. But I suspect this is first and foremost an inner ear problem.

I'm not a fan of Simone style but admire her great brilliant gymnastic abilities....she is proud smart and have Beautiful manners thus far in a weird world of sports ...the sear pressure of competitions and to overcome any failure due to mental and bodily functions which must be healthy etc.....she brilliant in her abilities.

There is no evidence nor could there be that the US team would been more successful if she had competed. Certainly, her condition would have some effect on her performance it is just a question how much. Neither do we know what the consequences for future had she competed. She was in the best position to make the right decision which is why was her decision. I respect the fact she made the decision openly and accepted the consequences.
Racial equality? Like she was oppressed? Did she not get the credit and accolades she deserved? I think she did and still does.
I worry that the coaches keep pushing these young women until they break something. It’s happened before. Sometimes women have broken their necks trying to do difficult gymnastics moves. I hope this doesn’t happen to Simone, or any of the other gymnasts.

This has nothing to do with race. Many European women from several countries have competed well past 21 in gymnastics. It's that gymnastics has been a very sexist sport, especially since the 1970's. In the early days of gymnastics white women gymnasts were in their late 20's and well into their 30's. But then the Karolis (coaches) entered the scene and wanted young and emaciated gymnasts. The "younger the better" became the norm in the US and that filtered into China and Russia who are always competing with America for Olympic gold medals.
And that's how it was until the whole abuse scandals started coming out. Gymnasts started detailing what happened to them, the starving, the physical and emotional abuse, and the s*xu*l abuse by the US gymnasts main doctor Larey Nasser and others. And things changed dramatically.
Simone is the first part of this new gymnastics of older women. But she's not the only one. You're going to see women (white women as well as Latina, asian and black women) who are older and more muscular and have more shape to them. Gone are the scrawny 16-year-olds. The new gymnasts are much bigger, more muscular, have more weight on them, and are older. And I'm happy about it! But it is not that black women have genetic differences that make them better at older ages.
You do not want to be introducing genetics into any argument on race unless you want to be considered a racist. And you really don't want to go there as far as intellect goes either. Nor do you want to question why no African country has a gymnastics team in the olympics. 😊😅😅😅❤❤
