I stood under that bird and touched it, when it was still languishing on the Tarmac at Tucson International Airport, in Arizona. It was in the early eighties and I was in eighth grade. It is so cool to see her back in the air, where she belongs. I wish I could find a copy of the documentary they made about her rebirth. I really enjoyed it.
I used to watch these as a youngster flying over head at about 2000 feet coming out at about 15 miles from Heathrow, never mistook the sound of a Connie coming over, amazing plane.
Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for the beautiful and comprehensive footage. Luckily, I have had a ride on one, only once in my life: in 1962, Lufthansa Express from Frankfurt to Hamburg. I was only 13 at the time, and I did not know we would be riding on a Super Constellation until we got to the gate. Experience of a lifetime.
I remember seeing several of these parks together at Washington national airport in the early sixties, when we went to pick my father up who was a controller there.
Great video, excellente work. This is the most elegant and beautiful aircraft that the human has done to date. For me it's the best of all and number one.
The Lockheed Constellation is a four-engined piston airplane which is built from 1943 to 1958. I remember the Super Constellation appeared in the airshow, while the Breitling Air Team Super Constellation airplane performs in those airshow events and flies in some world tours, or it flies, either short or medium distances.
The Lockheed Constellation is an airplane which is built from 1943 to 1958. The status of the Constellation airplane is in very limited service. The airline's Super Constellation phased out in the 1990s, after the military variants, which retired in 1978.
Awesome catch mate! I think I filmed the Connie on that day also, porb in the same area. The video I'm uploading almost looks the same, Haha! Look like you were at the front row!
This Super Constellation was laying derelict in Manila International airport for years along with a few DC3s and a couple of Fokker F27s. I used to look for it when ever I was there (being an enthusiast) it had been used to carry dried fish and for some reason it had been abandoned there. When I could no longer see it from the departure lounge I assumed it had been bought and when I got back to Sydney I looked at the airport on Google Maps and found it all disassembled behind a hanger ready to be shipped. Next thing we knew it was in Australia in Qantas livery where she belonged. That little Irish guy running Qantas has made some pretty bad decisions in his time there but this wasn't one of them.
I think you may be referring to the Connie at the Qantas museum at Longreach. This old girl (ex USAF C-121) was resurrected from the Arizona aircraft "boneyard" by HARS who, whilst having many ex QANTAS pilots/ground and flight crew in its membership, are a separate organisation.
I think the Brietling Connie based in Switzerland does passenger pleasure flights. I have a sneaky feeling though the cost per passenger could be a wallet burner !
The Breitling Connie (no longer airworthy) reportedly did offer this. AUS civil aviation regulations do not allow HARS Connie to operate as a commercial aircraft. Some HARS members (other than the specific flight crew on the day) MAY get to take a ride on her when they take her up
That's some of the best camera/sound work i've seen on TH-cam. Many thanks for sharing & please keep them coming!
Cheers man they will come non stop
Surely, it is very unlikely, that there will ever be another aircraft as beautiful as the "Connie"

I was fascinated by the Connies I'd see at airports when I was a boy, but my parents and I usually ended up on a DC-6. Oh well.

Definitely is the Super Constellation... Most of the Constellation aircraft served very long years from the 1940s, the 1950s and through the 1990s...

GORGEOUS!
I rode on one in 1964, via MATS, to Seattle. The impression never left me.
The interesting feature is the exhaust flames on all 4 engines.
TheSirjohn2012 sure is love this connie and the sounds connie made its return to Avalon this after not attending the 2015 show

Captain Steven Markovich thank you
I recorded this specific takeoff, I was sitting further down the runway, you can watch it on my channel
elegant
Is there any place where they flight these planes taking passengers around? I am sure that there are enough enthusiasts to make it profitable.
