Two Lockheed Constellations, the MATS Connie and the Dutch Connie, at Avra Valley, Arizona. Includes engine starts, taxiing, take-offs, landings and in cockpit.
My father flew these when he was with Eastern Airlines. This was one of his favorite airplanes to fly. They're such beautiful girls. 😂❤ I hope they are preserved and kept flying. Such an important part of history.
I think the Constellation is the most beautiful passenger plane ever built, mostly because of the gorgeous S curve of the fuselage, but the triple tail stabilizer/rudder as well. I saw my older sister get on a TWA Constellation at Bradley Field in Hartford, Ct in the 1950's to fly to LA.
My first ride was on a Super Connie Seattle to Anchorage ALASA in 1961. Been on several sense. This MATS plane stopped here in Anchorage on it's way to Korea and my son got to see one . He worked at the airport and I got a few pictures of it before they took off.
I remember as a kid growing up back in the late fifties and early sixties watching the Connies fly overhead from the school yard on their way to LAX it was a beautiful sound and what a sight it was.
This is old footage I believe. The beautiful MATS Connie was sold to S. Korea where it's now on static display rotting away in the weather. Terrible shame.
@@grumpyoldfart1945 Tombés en panne bien sûr, la compagnie Air France en a exploité un bon nombre pendant 20 ans, ils étaient surnommés : "Meilleurs trimoteurs transatlantiques" 😆.
A real shame that neither of these two beautiful aircraft no longer fly. The MATS Connie now sits as a static display in Korea. The Dutch Connie has yet to resolve whatever financial and/or mechanical issues it has.
@@HighballTrainsThe owners filed bankruptcy in 2011 and the Connie was acquired by the Dutch Aviodrome Museum in Lelystad in 2012 The plane is now on indoor static display in a hanger there.
What a beautiful aircraft. Thank you for keeping her flying and keeping her healthy.

Beautiful old Connie!!!
I was a Connie Crew Chief in the United States Air Force. 552nd AEW&C Wing Det 1. Kwang Ju Korea and Korat RTAFB Thailand. I miss her.
Beautiful piece of aviation....needs to be preserved for posterity. Thanks.
The most beautful plane ever built.
100%right ❤❤❤❤❤

YES! And the last version, the one with the longer nose, was PERFECT!!!!

This one is not a Super.

Yo nací en el año 70 y me acuerdo de esos tipos de aviones ..... Y también los utilizaba Pa' fumigar desde el vacío.....
MATS Connie, August 1956, Clark AFB PI to Hickam Field, TH via Kwajalein, rear facing seating all the way. USN.
I flew on a Connie once, from Lackland to Chanute, 1967. I particularly remember the oil flowing(yes flowing) over the wing.
C'était aussi le cas des Douglas DC 6 et DC 7.
Le dessus des ailes derrière les moteurs était bien gras 😅.
What Engines did the Connie have?
Did the Connie have Wright 3350 Engines?
What a lovely plane!!! here ( in México) was usef as a cargo plane...since 60 yaers ago....❤❤❤
I saw this bird at several airshows, Avoca (Wilkes-Barre Scranton) and National Warplane Museum, probably several others.
This is one amazing airplane, I wonder how many are still flight worthy and are not just sitting in a museum
Only one is airworthy i think.
@@trainsofnorway9664there are two just in this video😂😂😂. Weren’t you watching it 😂😂😂
What a nice plane, it looks very well done.
I absolutely love the looks of this airplane. I wish I could experience being a passenger.
Absolutely Beautiful!😍

Such a graceful aircraft.... greyhound of the air 🙂
Tout à fait 🤗.

August 1959 I flew on a PNA constellation from Seattle to Anchorage Alaska.! Id rather again fly on a constellation than a Boeing 737-MAX today!
how fast can the plane fly.

When were these flights?
So now there three that are flying?
They flew it with the starboard front hatch open?
Short hop from Marana to Ryan Field, a few minutes at low altitude.
Is important the control at system electrics
Anyone knkw what happened to this one?
I believe it went to Korea and no longer flies.
I’ was in. M A C military air lift command in the A F ❤❤❤❤ love it .
The stewardesses were trained to listen to the engines should one fall off whilst in flight. It did happen a few times
Sounds heavily apocryphal ....
Very interesting that engines fell off in flight….please elaborate.

And what were the stewardesses supposed to do about it? Come on, man!
The real Princess in the Air. Beautifull !
Waar blijft PH-LKW ?
Rode a MATS Connie from Tachikawa to Wake , Hickam to Travis 1958. Then on from SFO to JFK via TWA Connie

Connie with gear down, a praying mantis. Connie gear up, the most beautiful bird in the air.
I always thought that she had rather a smug smile. I was privileged to fly several times on both the MATS Connie and the Dutch. Beautiful aircraft.
Imagine the Connie with a turboprop conversion, talk about efficiency.

I knew the MATS Connie was a static display in Korea, but I had no idea that the Dutch Connie had problems. Thank you for the update.

And efficient pressure of routes😊😊
The flight engineer dose most of the work ❤❤❤ I know 😢
I wish they'd bring back the red white and blue Air Force emblem.
