Danny DeVito's a national treasure. I like to imagine they went out of their way to give him no material just telling him "idk, say some Mini-me shit and start blasting"
I can't believe you didn't choke with laughter when MiniMe asked Beyonce: "Are you sure you don't have a little clone in you?" "No, my mini man." "WOULD YOU LIKE TO?" The look on MiniMi's face and Beyonce's reaction was just plain hilarious!
I don’t think the actress who plays Frau Farbissina (Mindy Sterling) ever gets enough credit; Myers is so naturally quirky and funny as Dr. Evil and she never fails to meet his level imo. The “children are all different, eh?” “Yaa,” “Yeahh-“ “YAAAA” Gets me every single time lmao, their jail scene is also iconic. Love her character, love that actress!
Yes in the 70s he was in an Irwin Allen (Poseidon Adventure, The Towering Inferno) film The Swarm an all star cast movie about a massive swarm of killer bees. In the late 80s he starred opposite Steve Martin in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and numerous other films for decades infact he has been acting steadily since 1950 his last released film was in 2022.
5:06 Quincy Jones’ 1962 tune "Soul Bossa Nova", which originated on his album Big Band Bossa Nova, was used as the theme for the Austin Powers movies. That’s why he’s here; it’s not just a random cameo, it’s giving credit to the man who made the music!
The joke of Austin & Dr Evil looking alike, into "Austin, I'm your father. Really? No... Right, idiot.", and capping with the brother reveal is fantastic trilogy work. For more of Mike playing multiple characters - So I Married An Axe Murderer
A good conclusion to one of the funniest comedy series of the 90's. I love that they're able to actually reuse jokes while making it stay funny for 3 movies. While I wish that Myers had continued the series and made more parodies of Bond villains and movies (we'd have some good material with the Daniel Craig Bond series) but also having 3 good movies is more than most series can ask for. Glad you enjoyed it. Always good to hear a good JL belly laugh.
Austin Powers 2023, similar to the new Rocky stuff, old Austin recruits Shia LaBeouf to take down Scott's evil plan. In one scene, Scott skips the ridiculously slow and escapable death chamber and goes straight for the kill, which leads directly to the escape of Austin and Nigel Jr. while Dr. Evil's just shaking his head saying "He never really understood."
To me, the 3rd film is far and away the best one. It's not even close. I laughed so much harder (and more) during this one than any others. I also saw it in theatres and the whole theatre was filled with raucous laughter the whole time. I love it. It's my favorite.
This and Harold and Kumar 2 is the most and hardest I ever seen a theatre laugh in my whole life. 2 best comedy movie experiences of my life, no others come close.
I think the 3rd is the cleanest made film. Like the plot and characters are solid and it flows well. The jokes are still funny also this one is like way more family friendly compared to the older ones: less sex bots and fakeout nudity scenes or references to sexy spy films and soft core plots or Johnson’s in general (haha) However the first had so many jokes and references and was so wild that it’ll stay as my favorite even if the pacing can be off or some of the scenes seem low budget b-movie rip offs etc it’s still so outrageous. I also think the use of Cameo/guest stars was different in each film how they act as comic relief/die ridiculously vs being a movie version of the cast or a good guy. The only main actor and cameo to die in the third movie is the mom and Mike Myers’s in different costumes (the rest of the cameos are in the beginning where they’re actors in no danger) where even before will Ferrell was willing to be burned shot in a car wreck and shot again as a real character because it’s wild to see played out so long for a laugh. Like it was overall more wild for a famous person to be in the movie then in a 2 second harmless shoutout (which is funny/cute/and wild but also not the same level of intensity or actual harm to the actor as a character)
Totally agree-This one feels like Myers was let off the leash and allowed to do his thing and it's way better than the first two. 1= 6/10, 2 =7/10, 3= 10/10 :)
I'm no psychic, but here is my prediction of how the first minute will sound like: ". . . . . . . . . . . wha? . . . . . . . . . . . SHUT THE F*** UP!!" 😂😂😂
Deep cut: Austin's pimpmobile time machine is modeled on a tricked-out Cadillac in the 1973 pimp drama WIILLIE DYNAMITE, starring Roscoe Orman as the title character, long before he became better known as the third and final Gordon on 'SESAME STREET."
I might've agreed with you once but after the Love Guru and the mess of a series on Netflix, I think we were all a little burnt out on Mike Myers' characters and disguises
Mole Man was Fred Savage who also played in The Wonder Years with my first crush, Winnie Cooper. Absolutely loved that you finished this series. It was so damn funny now as it was then. Especially with your commentary on it.
Wonderful reaction. It is great to see someone react to it that appreciate it so much. And the joy when you realized they where going to do it again: 31:20 :D :D
27:42 Austin Powers’ father, Nigel Powers, is played by Oscar-winning British actor Michael Caine. This is rather self-referential casting, since Austin Powers as a character is based in part on the character of Harry Palmer, who Michael Caine portrayed in three films based on popular spy novels by Len Deighton: THE IPCRESS FILE (1965), FUNERAL IN BERLIN (1966), and BILLION DOLLAR BRAIN (1967). Especially notable is the fact that both Harry Palmer and Nigel and Austin Powers all wear thick black horn rimmed glasses.
For real my favorite TH-camr!! It makes me really happy watching you’re videos and iv been dealing with hella shit and it definitively got my through it!
This is my absolute favorite one. Saw it in the theater with my best friend, and maaaan the quotes... years' worth of quotes to this very day. Dr. Evil is the funniest damn character in any movie, ever. I do not care. Fight me. 😂😂😂
After 2 was decent, I expected the same from the third, but I was pleasantly surprised by the step up in game in this movie. The new bits were more inventive, and they improved the previous bits. Also the cameos let the big stars have some fun in a franchise they clearly enjoyed. We were all fans of Austin Powers, so much silliness.
What sumo rikishi wear is called Mawashi and it's nothing like what's shown here. It's honestly a long piece of cloth that's wrapped around and around and tied in a knot.
@Tatianagome it's stitched together with foam inside. Real mawashi (the colored one only worn in juryo and makuuchi) is made of silk and is wrapped around the body several time and then securely knotted. The top two divisions have tsukebito (lower ranked wrestlers) as assistants.
lol, mini me got Shot off into space in the last movie. RIP little Verne Troyer. I'm glad he got to make his little mark, He was amazing in the Surreal Life.... Drinking the big boys under the table, Riding his little scooter, Pissing all over the place. Rest in peace indeed, my little man!!!!!
Are you serious; this was the best. They stepped it up with Tom Cruise; Kevin Spacy; Danny DiVito; Gwen Paltrow; Beyonce; Brittany Spears; Quicy Jones: John Travolta; Tiny Lester and Fred Savage etc...
Oh, and when I saw this in the theater, I was SURE sure there was gonna be another one! It had all the markers for a sequel! My friends and I waited and waited and I'm still devastated they did us like that. Anyway, this was my favorite and it's still a big part of my life. "Not you henchmen arbitrarily turning knobs pretending you're doing something". 😂😂😂
I think Tom Cruise just takes a break from how hard he normally works in a movie, and just does a movie for fun. He's sure got the money, and chops, to afford it.
"Your spy car's a Mini?" "It's not the size mate, it's how you use it." Fun Fact: Michael York and Sir Michael Caine, veteran English actors with over one hundred movies each to his credit, had never worked on a movie together before this one. Like Son, Like Father Fact: Mike Myers has said that his glasses in all three movies are meant to look like those worn by Sir Michael Caine in The Ipcress File (1965), so Caine took the original glasses (model "Teviot 74" by U.K. Optical) to the set, and wore them as Nigel. Director's Cut Fact: Director Jay Roach's first cut of this movie ran three hours long. Heather Graham reprised her role as Felicity Shagwell in a scene that was ultimately cut. Will Ferrell reprised his role of Mustafa in another deleted scene, in which he has to answer a question after being asked four times. Title Dispute Fact: All promotional material (including on-line trailers) bearing the movie's original title, Austin Powers In Goldmember (2002), was withdrawn in late January 2002. MGM and Danjaq, who control the James Bond license, obtained a cease-and-desist order from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) arbitration panel on the grounds that New Line was attempting to trade on the James Bond franchise without authorization. The matter went to arbitration and this movie was known briefly as "The third installment of Austin Powers" until the matter was settled on April 11, 2002. MGM agreed that New Line Cinema could use the original Goldmember title, on condition that it had approval of any future titles that parodied existing Bond titles. New Line Cinema also had to agree to show the trailer for the new MGM James Bond movie, Die Another Day (2002) with this movie.
Your shirts are always so cool. I wonder how many people get what your shirt is referencing in this video? I'll just say this, according to Colt and Tum Tum "Rocky loves Emily" lol
What I love about Austin Powers is the fact it’s such an amazing movie but a lot of people never heard or seen them. Even Lil Wayne had a Shaguar on MTV crib and Ludacris even copied the franchise in a video Number One Spot. Brittany song Boys in the movie has Austin and Pharrell in it.
