I've listened to Noonan for over 40 years. Beginning with the Reagan mythology, few have paved the way for a Trump more than Noonan has. Watching her snobbish disdain for a Harris administration during her interview with Bill, her selfishness and arrogance is clearly revealed.
10000% Her smug look as she defended voting for a 3rd party candidate was vile. Putting a convicted felon in the WH who shut down Medicaid in all 50 states makes more sense.
Why do you guys always inject feelings into every argument? Why not say "Her argument is wrong because ...." instead of "her selfishness and arrogance,..."?
Bill gave him way too much time, Real Time covers current events, not English history 15th century. Go listen to history podcast, this is wrong show for you. Most boring Overtime in very long time. Is there nothing in USA happening right now?
Bill, you contradicted yourself all in one show. You and your guests say America is great well, I agree. However, compared to some other European countries why do you think we’re better? In the beginning of your show, you discussed how wonderful America is, and by the end you were putting everything in America down . Our government, our healthcare, our education system, and guns and gun laws are not on par with other western countries. I’m 55 years old and I’m starting to realize we have our own little propaganda going on here in our own country. Sure maybe we are a superpower, but not really - as China has been proving that recently. You need to admit that other European countries do provide far more for their citizens than we do. For the important things, not just welfare. Education, and a basic safety net for all people. Education is still relevant and so very important, yet you put it down. The dumbing down of America started decades ago. There are too many stupid people here in our country.
There are a lot of things that started in the Reagan Revolution that we are having to deal with for the past decades. Before Reagan, federal assistance went to education and made higher education affordable. Reagan ended that, leaving the states to operate it on their own with the promise of federal money. It didn't take long for the fed money to dry up, forcing the states to raise taxes and tuitions. This also affected the environmental protections the federal government had been running. It was left to the states but eventually without federal support. Much of the resentment that got Trump elected was a result of Reagan's policies on taxes and federal aid to the states. The loss of prosperity for the working and middle classes left us all feeling left out.
Noonan is a snob, she can turn her nose on Kamala which would protect democracy to say the least, so she bows out from voting! Reagan was someone difinitely worth not voting for. She is so out of touch, hope her book tanks in sales!!!
Don't dismiss the firefighters of Los Angeles so quickly, Bill Maher. They did and are STILL doing the best they can with the limited resources that they were given. Why don't you go up and spend a week with them? I dare you.

It was a great show however he didn’t mention the upcoming tariffs in place tomorrow on Canada 🇨🇦 and Mexico. Canada is totally on edge and it wasn’t even mentioned.
@@doloresjanet- We're definitely on edge and I blame fg Trudeau for it. His psychopathy above all else, while Canada is obliterated. Trump wants to annex Canada and I now believe the tariffs have very little to do with the border. After all, guns brought up thru the U. S. border are the ones being used in crime sprees throughout Canada. He was using the border as an excuse. He's coming to get us and there's not a damn thing we can do to stop him. If Trudeau hadn't bankrupted us, we could wait him out, as economically painful as that would be, but we can't afford to and he knows it. What will it feel like to have presided over the end of the best country in the world, built by the ancestors of tens of millions of Canadians, including mine, over the past 500 years? Trudeau won't give a sh*t bc he can afford to live anywhere he wants. For the rest of us, it will be complete devastation at the loss of our home as we know and love it. I LOVE my country. I'd love it more if FJT had never been born and I will love it more when he leaves. Not sure why you didn't post the Noonan interview, but Bill, have you been struck in the head?? "Will you visit crash?" "What? It's the water. Do you expect me to swim? "It was a stupid question." YOU used to be the one calling out Tr*mp's toddler like thinking. Now YOU think the question was asking if he would physically stand where the aircraft ended up?? He was also asked if he would meet with the victims' families and/or the first responders and he blew that off too. Once upon a time, you'd call out the fact that he will find the one family member who's MAGA and stand next to them with thumbs up and that pasted on smile and declare how whatever he says/does is right because this family member stands with him. And your blather about "what they're teaching kids"? FFS Bill, no one's teaching them America is bad or broken - THAT'S TRUMP'S TALKING POINT! Schools ACKNOWLEDGE America is not perfect and have moved away from the jingoism and whitewashed history of the past, again, something you USED to call out. Peggy, kids in difficult situations can't just walk out the door and see hope, especially now - as #IQ45 is trying to LITERALLY cancel the programs that HELP them. Max Brooks said INVEST in good childhood nutrition so kids are healthier and learn. Yet in the EO purge, Tr*mp is cancelling those very programs and MAGA-GQP reps are floating proposals to make kids WORK for their school lunches, apparently MarkWayne Mullin never read Oliver Twist. CALL OUT THE REAL PROBLEMS!

Trump has no authority to do it. The Constitution [1.8.3] gives Congress, not the president, the power to regulate commerce with foreign nations. He is exceeding his constitutional powers and getting away with it because nobody in the other two branches is willing to do anything to stop him.

His small interaction with Dan Jones was embarrassing. I don't expect Americans to know much about English medieval monarchs but surely understanding how the language he himself speaks developed would be useful. I mean does he actually think historical figures spoke in Shakespearian verse irl??
Love this moment! 10:06 Brooks calling out Saint Ronnie to his speechwriter. Today’s MAGA is the natural and predictable end result of decades of (R) politics starting in the ‘80s.
Brook's opinion of Reagen and his impact on history is full of fallacies, and demonstrates his inability to accurately analyze the dynamic economic recovery and the corresponding American revival that occurred.

Just FYI: While Noonan's speechwriting has been praised, her books and Wall Street Journal columns have been the source of criticism and mockery. Critics have singled out her reliance on personal anecdotes to make broad assertions about current events and changes in American politics and society.[21] During Hurricane Katrina, Noonan called for looters in New Orleans to be shot.[22] Henry Giroux called it a "barely coded rationale to shoot low-income Black people."

As democracies have enlarged the voter franchise, the wealthiest have come to understand and fear that a fully enfranchised citizenry will use their political power to democratize the economy. In a democratized economy, everyone would gain in wealth, but the wealthiest's share of the whole would be decreased, and along with it, their political power. Therefore, the politics of division piting one segment of the electorate against another to keep them in disunity and from focusing on the economic inequality and the political inequality it helps maintains.

They were still Germans, Germany is a region not a country. We call the country Germany because it's what the Romans called it. The country we call Germany calls themselves Deutschland. He called the English Germans because they were Anglo-Saxons. English = Anglish.
He’s referring to the fact that English is a Germanic language, and that it took a while to leaven out some Germanic structures to produce modern English.

The audience reactions on Real Time can feel unnatural, especially since they seem to clap and whoop for everything, even when guests are making completely opposing points. It makes it seem like they’re just there to cheer rather than actually react to the substance of the discussion. The fact that Whoop Guy is always there and loudly reacting makes it even worse. It’s almost like he’s a built-in hype man for the show rather than a genuine audience member. There’s almost never any audible disagreement or boos, which is weird for a show that’s supposed to thrive on debate.

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz were a joke!!!Anyone with common sense can see that and that is why Trump won.MAGA!!🇺🇸🇺🇸😂
Why do you guys always inject feelings into every argument? Why not say "Her argument is wrong because ...." instead of "her selfishness and arrogance,..."?
Because those are her defining characteristics. Those and willful ignorance.
No, it's not.
Bill just could not let that historian have his moment.
Bill gave him way too much time, Real Time covers current events, not English history 15th century. Go listen to history podcast, this is wrong show for you. Most boring Overtime in very long time. Is there nothing in USA happening right now?
“Sounds like Obama.” “Hmm” 😂😂😂
Doesn't anyone remember what a far right hater Peggy Noonan was?
Absolutely love Dan Jones- great author and documentarist.
Thank you, Max Brooks, for making that point about it all stemming from the “Reagan Revolution,” and saying it to Peggy Noonan’s face.
Haha the look on her face too…
There are a lot of things that started in the Reagan Revolution that we are having to deal with for the past decades.

It is horrible. No rational person in the US wants this. We are embarrassed.

His small interaction with Dan Jones was embarrassing. I don't expect Americans to know much about English medieval monarchs but surely understanding how the language he himself speaks developed would be useful. I mean does he actually think historical figures spoke in Shakespearian verse irl??

And her little head tilt and lean back in her chair with a look on her face saying, "how dare you talk about my time in office as a negative thing!"
Brook's opinion of Reagen and his impact on history is full of fallacies, and demonstrates his inability to accurately analyze the dynamic economic recovery and the corresponding American revival that occurred.

While Noonan's speechwriting has been praised, her books and Wall Street Journal columns have been the source of criticism and mockery.
Are you saying that the looters were low-income Black people?

As democracies have enlarged the voter franchise, the wealthiest have come to understand and fear that a fully enfranchised citizenry will use their political power to democratize the economy. In a democratized economy, everyone would gain in wealth, but the wealthiest's share of the whole would be decreased, and along with it, their political power. Therefore, the politics of division piting one segment of the electorate against another to keep them in disunity and from focusing on the economic inequality and the political inequality it helps maintains.

The audience reactions on Real Time can feel unnatural, especially since they seem to clap and whoop for everything, even when guests are making completely opposing points. It makes it seem like they’re just there to cheer rather than actually react to the substance of the discussion.
