Very interesting suggestions. I actually haven't thought about the current trend and where it would lead. My own, unlearned opinion is this. There is already a trend toward "individual spiritualism" which I think will slowly encompass a majority of people who may feel a need or a tie to a "greater good". There are a couple of contemporary christian "camps" that are gaining popularity: the works of Teilhard de Chardin, for the more science oriented and those interested in the practice of contemplative meditation practices and the respective contemplative authors. Both of which might lead these individuals to Meister Eckhart's spiritual perspective with it's connection to Philosophy/spirituality. The second camp I mentioned has roots in the psychology of self-awareness and improvement (Ken Wilbur, etc.) which is attractive to "independent minded" people. Both paths could lead humans to a non-dual approach to life, a unification rather than a separation and that would be a good thing.

As a lonely guy I see the value of isolation, it really can be useful. The taoists point this out rather well too, that it can bring apophatic meditation into full view as well as teach the individual to live simply and in harmony with the way things are as well as find resolve and fortitude in God and then the self. Loving this channel more everyday

Thank you so much! I want to expand this at some point to different senses of the word "lonely" since that's one of the buzzwords for the discussion surrounding AI companions and the modern condition. Most people think of it too much in black-or-white terms. And yes, the modern version of isolation can conduce to mysticism and meditation - living somewhat like a hermit, which is a decidedly good thing for some people

@@goodtothinkwith I feel like I could pick your mind for a long time, been into all things God and religion and mysticism for a long time, eastern religions and west. I’m certainly no pro, but I’m definitely obsessed and have been as long as I can remember. These topics are among my favorite! I’ve been trying to write a book called hallows of solitude & the musings of a Minnesota mystic for some time. Your vids have been great At challenging, inspiring as well as informing or even showing me a mirror, Eckhart was shocking, he validated something I couldn’t find anywhere else (that idea of faith&beauty being a vehicle… that putting words to something bigger than life) .

Great insights as always! I wonder "who" is feeling the loneliness? (Is it felt, the loneliness and isolation?) Is "the Self" lonely? How can the Self feel lonely or isolated? I'm picking up increasing duality in evolution.

Ah yes indeed! That's exactly it. In a way, being isolated gives someone the freedom needed to ask the questions about the self. In fact, you may be onto something there... isolation is peculiar in that it already addresses the self. That makes it a particularly good question to ask in that space. I need to find out if anyone has developed meditation practices specifically for this or with that as a focus. I'm sure they have.. I just don't know if it has a name.
