Still absolutely beautiful right up until her final day. What a legend. I remember turning on the computer and the first thing that leapt out at me was a feed of this absolutely soul-destroying news. Chrissy was a wall of energy - an indestructible force of nature. Australia's reigning wild woman of rock. I am still devastated, to this day, as I will always be. Some artists just have a way of imprinting themselves on your soul. This was Christina Amphlett. Divinyls were the soundtrack and backdrop to my childhood, and my growing up. Australia never had a single other female singer who could shatter steel like Chrissy could! The woman was a tornado of talent! Now, with the passing of Olivia Newton-John and Judith Durham, Australia has been left with a big space. An emptiness that can never be filled, and a loss of talent that will never be emulated. The GOOD DIE YOUNG. This couldn't be more true in Chrissy's case. Fifty-three is FAR too young. Rest peacefully to all three of these absolutely phenomenal, strong, powerful, unique, beautiful, angelic and forever enduring women.
I miss Chrissy a lot. Aussie music went to shit after her death. Everyone is so nice and repetitive these days. Chrissy, I miss you. I hope you aren't resting in peace with the rest of the dead shits. Rock on and we'll jam when I get there. It won't be long.
Devastating 💔 She was a goddess ❤❤❤ Love her to bits. Listen to her all the time. Inspirational, trail blazer. No one like her. RIP dear soul 💔 Gone too soon
I watched the I Touch Myself Video on a recommendation while watching Kim Wilde Videos. I never had any idea about Chrissy beyond that one hit.(A metal head, after all) I was truly touched, and felt the love that Australia obviously had for her. RIP.
do checkout their other music, its not metal but has a hard rock edge to it. Its a real shame they only had that one hit in the US, their 80's music was so much better in many ways. Their first hit here from 1981 'Boys In Town' is a must, back in those days she dressed in a school uniform, kinda like Angus Young's twin sister lol
The announcer says "she was...", I am Argentine and I want to tell her that as long as I am in this world, "she will be...." They say that we are very passionate, and she was, is and will be a passion. She was all passion. Forever live in my heart Chrissy
Chrissy Amphlett was and always will be one of our proudest treasures. Truly a feminine symbol; fierce, fearless, and as Peter Garrett just said "feisty". Australia's answer to Stevie Nicks.
I went looking for her songs a few days ago, and became aware that she had passed away years ago. Had I known that? I assumed I must have heard it at the time and somehow forgotten it. But I've just discovered from this post exactly when it happened, and at that very time I was on a long hike overseas with no access to the net for a few weeks. Kind of glad I didn't hear it then, because it would have left me a mess. Belated RIP Chrissy, you were a big part of the soundtrack of my 1980s life.
@@musicmadinoz Yes. I visited NSW and Queensland in 1979 for three months. Really rural once you left Sydney to the west and heaps of undeveloped coastal land. I suspect those days are long gone. I feel for you guys with the floods. Byron bay was really idyllic and laid back.
@@davidanderson8469 and no one except the rich celebs can afford to live in Byron anymore, people priced out of their own area if they need to move. The housing shortage all over Australia is really bad now though, hopefully will change with our new Prime Minister elected this Saturday gone
@@musicmadinoz I'm in San Diego and same deal regarding affordability. I don't know what the hell happened worldwide? No one wants more development but people need a place to live.
I actually have had the very big privileged to write a song with her and we were lovers and friends my dear Christine I will never ever forget you are in my heart
A huge loss to Australia and many people all over the world. She was one of the great rock frontwomen of all time.
Chrissy became more and more beautiful as the years went by, even in illness. Such a talent. Not forgotten after 10 years.
Never 🇦🇺
