Here's the opening and closing themes for the first season of Run, Joe, Run, which aired in 1974. For more information on this and other Saturday morning shows, check out www.70slivekidv...
This was my absolute favorite thing to watch on Saturday morning as a kid. I have asked so many people over the years if they'd ever seen this show, and I could never find anyone who had seen it. Now, thanks to TH-cam, I see that others remember Joe and loved this show, too. Thank you to whoever made Run Joe Run come back to life!
I loved this show! I was always afraid something would happen to Joe. Joe was played by a dog named Heinrich. Saturday morning TV will never be again as great as it was in the 1970s. Thanks for the memories!
I'm 56 now and have very warm and vivid memories of watching this show as a kid!! Will we, the diehard fans, ever see this series in its entirety, in a DVD set??!! Please, whoever has the rights to it, please consider releasing it! This was one of my top kid shows of all time! Very very rare now, but still holds up for its wholesome quality!
Awesome show - I have a German Shepherd and a Jeep now because of this show (took me 40 years but I got it!!!) They could have done SO much more with this "idea." This is a classic I have 6 episodes on VHS - The fist season was Great (corny as shit but lovable) - I wish the same story line would be resurected to a modern day Theme and NEW SHOW! - perhaps a returning solder from the middle east etc. Kids would LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had a frog I named Joe back then, but he must've thought he was a dog, because I always fed it Strongheart dog food, with the German Shepherd on the label!
I've been watching all these vids from the old Saturday mornings in the 70's. I sure miss these shows and this has made me feel so happy watching these clips. Brings me back to childhood. Alot of great shows back then. Thank you all that have posted these vids!
I still remember my mother reading a list of upcoming shows for the new Saturday morning lineup, and telling me about a new show called, "Run Joe Run." It's almost inconceivable that that was 37 years ago.
Oh man this is wounderful!!!!!this is one of the best Saturday morning programs I watched and I loved it and I still am very fond of it today to bad the junk on tv is not good like this was I believe a show like this was important to kids like me back than now look at the garbage we are force to sit through and watch what rubbish! Thank goodness for memories that don't suck and live on and dvd s and blue ray players run Joe run you still mean so much to people like me and others who still believe and care for shows that used to come on thank you!!!!!
Am so glad to have seen this clip. It was my favorite show as a kid bueteveryone I have asked does not remember this show. I was relieved to see others were as devoted to the show as I was!
I've been looking for this clip. I loved this show as a kid, it made quiet the impression on me at the time. Saturday morning cartoons of the early to mid 70's rocked. I have also noticed that many people don't remember this show, but I could never forget it. It was so compelling to see Joe the fugitive dog go through so many adventures. Thanks for posting.
Add my name to all the others who hopes this show gets unearthed and put on DVD. I remember I was 12 years old and had just begun my first year of junior high at Lansing Catholic High School in Lansing, Michigan when "Run Joe Run" first aired in September 1974. Seeing the opening and closing again after all these years certainly bought back some untapped memories for me. Anybody have some full episodes to post here on TH-cam? That'd really be excellent!
Loved this one as a kid! It was among my favorites, along with Ark II, Land of the Lost, Muggsy,, and the animated Star Trek. Thanks for posting this, and keeping it up on youtube!!!1
@ThoughtTraveler ha yes. I used to set my alarm clock to get up for saturday morning tv. And forget when September rolled around, I was like ok which new one do I watch first. Friday night they would have the special with the new sat cartoons.
Oh man, I remember watching this.... and even as an 11 year old kid, I got into the drama. And I was disappointed when season 2 changed so much. Then again, I was beginning to think it was all a dream, since none of my friends ever remembered the show!
The voiceover actor here was Paul Frees. He did a lot of voiceover work for Disney, and was the voice of Boris Badenov in The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
Thanks for the Vid! It brought backs heaps of memories. I was trying to recall the name of this show but kept coming up with the Littlest Hobo which didn't fit at all.
I'm 45, will turn 46 in May of '11. I was 10 years old in '75, so this is the stuff I was raised on. Run Joe Run, Shazam, Korg 70,000 B.C., Isis, The Amazing Wonderbug, The Banana Splits, H.R. Puff N Stuff, Lidsville, Land of the Lost, Capt. Cool and the Kongs, Sigmond the Sea Monster, The Archies, The Groovy Ghoulies, The Bugs Bunny/ Road Runner Show, Little Rascals, Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street, Electric Company and Zoom (Were gonna Zoom, Zoom, Zoom -a -Zoom!). I share the same memories.
Thanks for posting this! I watched Run Joe Run every Saturday. I have told people about this show that are around my age (44) and they didn't know what I was talking about. Now I can show them!
Era una linda serie , pobrecito , era un animal inocente y noble, y era un hermoso perro, aquí en argentina se pasaba a comienzos de los años 80 , la veíamos en familia, dulces recuerdos.
0:18-0:39, "Wanted: male German shepherd, Black and Tan; answers to the name of Joe, accused of attacking his trainer Sgt. Will Corey--a crime he didn't commit. Only Corey can prove him innocent, but first, he must find Joe before his pursuers track him down!"-Run Joe Run's opening lines that started every episode.
Same with you. I was born 3 months earlier. Paul Frees does the narration and the car used was an old style Toyota Land Cruiser. Like the ones on The National Geographic specials and Marlon Perkins "Wild Kingdom".
Terrific show for the kids of the 1970s on Saturday morning NBC TV. Very clever idea, too! It was basically a kid-friendly version of "The Fugitive" with a dog having the starring role. And like the fugitive, poor Joe had to leave town at the end of every episode.
I remember watching this show with a bowl of HoneyComb cereal and a glass of tang-I think after this was Skippy the bush kangaroo and the Daktari- Was I ever that young?;-)
This dog was named Heinrich and his trainer also trained Augustus Von Schumacher aka Won Ton Ton LOVED this show and Won Ton Ton. Oh if only both were on DVD
I'd watch this show Saturday morning or when I'd come home from school back when I was a teenager. Boy is this dog incredible. If every dog was like this, they'd do fine with way fewer animal control laws. Joe is not the average dog and would know how to jump out of the way of race cars to keep safe.
Although it only lasted two seasons it was such a great show. This was during a time when the government wanted more educational programs on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, shows like this had to suffer. Thanks
Run Joe Run is a cross between Lassie and The Fugitive; I wish Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider would bring back Run Joe Run with Victoria Justice and Miranda Cosgrove reprising their respective roles as Tori Vega and Carly Shay, narration by Scott Graham and Pete Anthony re-orchestrating Richard LaSalle's themes.
Your comment takes me way back; when you are a kid, you really felt sadness for a TV character even though you did not have actual contact. I remember seeing just the ending of a Lassie episode where she had been lost and reunited with Timmy, I felt both Timmy's sadness at losing her and his total joy when she ran into his little loving arms. I cried my little boy eyes out, knowing how I would feel at losing my dog(s). I don't remember Joe being reunited with his master, either.
The narrator's name is Paul Frees, best known as the voices of Boris Badenov and K.A.R.R. and Burgermeister Meisterburger. Frees is the go-to vocalist for Lawful Evil.
I am wondering if there are any other 40+ people like me who watched this show as kids and were moved my poor Joe's plight? . I try and talk to my nieces and nephews about how Saturday Morning Cartoons were back in the day......they just look at me like I am from another planet. . These poor kids....they are plugged into the Internet and their IPODS and IPHONES like they are a bunch of BORG!!!. . Sad. . I am SO glad I grew up in the 70s....I would not change that for ANYTHING!!!!
That's Paul Frees doing the narrating. He was also the Burgermeister Meisterburger in Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. You heard his voice a lot through the 60s, 70s and 80s.
Holy Bananas I remember this show, they used to tease me in school when this was on because of my name! wonder if there are any full episodes out there? lol Thanks for sharing! Joe
This series was only shown once in the UK, and I thought I was the only person who remembered it! My only memory of it was the shot from the titles where Joe climbs over the gate.
For those who were too young to remember or appreciate this show. It was kinda like The A-Team, only with an Army K-9. Joe was always on the run from town to town and always wound up in more trouble or had to save the day by twarting a bank robbery or digging some kid out from under a landslide. I never saw the final episode but I'd like to hope that they cut ol' Joe a break and gave him a puppy pardon.
stonedcommander Sergeant Will Cory was his trainer and he got recalled to active duty & the two never reunited. Remarkable the Army gave up on catching him.

My Thoughts exactly....This was one of my favorites...
Joanne Engle I use too watch it also. Loved that show 😄
i used to watch this. i had such a crush on joes owner
I was 10 in 1974, I remember this show. Great plot and great slo-mo sequences.
I remember it.
Greatest show ever....when I was 7-9 years old. Part of the reason I became a veterinarian.
🐕🦺Thank you for helping them. 🐈
I loved this show! I was always afraid something would happen to Joe. Joe was played by a dog named Heinrich. Saturday morning TV will never be again as great as it was in the 1970s. Thanks for the memories!
Loved this show as a kid, along with "Secrets Of Isis," "Land Of The Lost", "Ark 2," and "Shazam."
LOVED IT!!! Yeah I'm 45 now and totally remember feeling so sorry for Joe!
Great show for kids. Saturday mornings used to be such a treat. Nowadays, kids can see cartoons and kids' shows 24/7.
I used to cry watching this show!
I loved this show. Anytime I mention it, no one remembers it.

I lived in Ft.Ord CA at the time. This was one of my favorite shows as a 4th grader.
I've been looking for this clip. I loved this show as a kid, it made quiet the impression on me at the time. Saturday morning cartoons of the early to mid 70's rocked. D Roman me, too
I loved this show so much!
This was a dog that had flashbacks before I had them in the early 80's.
I remember this show. I was a young kid having 😊
I had completely forgotten about this show until a friend posted a page from a TV guide from back in the 70s on Facebook. How very cool!
Add my name to all the others who hopes this show gets unearthed and put on DVD.

omg..this is the first tv show i remember watching!!! awesome!!! i must own this series.
Friday night they would have the special with the new sat cartoons.
ahhhhhhhh, the good old days when i watched this show, over and over, why cant they make shows like this now?
Better than most any show nowadays...I miss shows with talking or smart animals. No Jersey Shore definitely doesn't rise to that level.
Oh man, I remember watching this.... and even as an 11 year old kid, I got into the drama. And I was disappointed when season 2 changed so much. Then again, I was beginning to think it was all a dream, since none of my friends ever remembered the show!
I hadn't thought about this show in years. Great memories!
The voiceover actor here was Paul Frees. He did a lot of voiceover work for Disney, and was the voice of Boris Badenov in The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
Very nice memories of watching this on Saturday mornings on NBC back in the mid 70s 😎
I was 5 years old when this was on and my name is Joe, so...win win!
I was 7 and you could see my name : )
Remember it well. Part of my Saturday morning line-up. Next I'm searching for Big John Little John! thx
I'm 59 now in 2020. It struck a chord in me. Then it was gone forever. No re-runs...nothing.
"Come to ME Joe, I'll protect You !!!"
I remember this series when I was kid. I really love the dog, always going from here to there, pour dog!!
It was a good show! I watched this because growing up I had a German Shepard.
Loved this show back in 74!
Thanks for the Vid! It brought backs heaps of memories. I was trying to recall the name of this show but kept coming up with the Littlest Hobo which didn't fit at all.
I was 5 when this show was on. It was my favorite Saturday morning thing Aside from the Bugs Bunny/Roadrunner Show.
As a kid I loved Run,Joe,Run.
In 2024 the phrase "Run Joe , Run" is terrifying.
I used to love watching this show too...what a memory, thanks.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who asked many people if they remembered this and always got a resounding NO! But I knew it existed!
I'm 45, will turn 46 in May of '11. I was 10 years old in '75, so this is the stuff I was raised on. Run Joe Run, Shazam, Korg 70,000 B.C., Isis, The Amazing Wonderbug, The Banana Splits, H.R. I share the same memories.
Thanks for posting this! I watched Run Joe Run every Saturday. I have told people about this show that are around my age (44) and they didn't know what I was talking about. Now I can show them!
This sounds so much like "The Fugitive." They should have had Joe pursue the dog with one front paw missing!
Ba Dum Tss
Oh you wag!.
Era una linda serie , pobrecito , era un animal inocente y noble, y era un hermoso perro, aquí en argentina se pasaba a comienzos de los años 80 , la veíamos en familia, dulces recuerdos.
Barely remember but I loved it. 7-8 years old.
Now this is drama. Loved it. I had a German Shepard at the time.
Awesome. Watched this every Saturday morning. It was my favorite.
My family Loved this show! So glad I stumbled on this!
All time fave!!

Only Corey can prove him innocent, but first, he must find Joe before his pursuers track him down!"-Run Joe Run's opening lines that started every episode.
I used to watch this show on NBC when I was 11. Ironically, there was a popular song at that time called "Run Joey Run" by David Geddes.
This dog is not only beautiful but smart - love this series
Same with you. I was born 3 months earlier. Paul Frees does the narration and the car used was an old style Toyota Land Cruiser. Like the ones on The National Geographic specials and Marlon Perkins "Wild Kingdom".
Used to watch this in the late 70s 👍

I watched this show as a kid. Thank you!!!
I can't remember this show, and after watching this video, I understand why.
I remember watching the opening to this show in disbelief. I love dogs, but c'mon. The concept is totally bizarre.
Next you're going to tell me that there was a show about a nun who could fly!
I'd watch this show Saturday morning or when I'd come home from school back when I was a teenager. Boy is this dog incredible. If every dog was like this, they'd do fine with way fewer animal control laws. Joe is not the average dog and would know how to jump out of the way of race cars to keep safe.
Loved this show
I hope someone release the whole show on the web; it was really good.
GREAT SHOW!!!!
When I was 7.
Although it only lasted two seasons it was such a great show. This was during a time when the government wanted more educational programs on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, shows like this had to suffer. Thanks
Truly classic, thank u 4 sharing.

Loved, very good childhood memories named my dog joe
I had almost forgotten about this show, but I remember liking it. That guy doing the voice over has to be the late, great Paul Frees.
OMG I stumbled onto this. Talk about a massive childhood flashback!
Pretty cool to ' meet' a relative of such a respected character actor like your granpa, Greg.
I hope he led a healthy and happy life.
I loved this show, and probably what got me into German Shepherds.
The best series ever ❤👍🤗🐕
I'm pretty sure it is actor Paul Frees. He also did the narration to another show from the same company, Westwind.
Your comment takes me way back; when you are a kid, you really felt sadness for a TV character even though you did not have actual contact. forgotten it's name, but yea, now remember the show- -thank you for posting & thanks for the memories

@ThoughtTraveler GOOD NEWS, I'M 40 AND THE SHOW WAS SO BIG THAT WE WERE WATCHING IT IN SOUTH AMERICA IN A SPANISH VERSION IN 1979 :-)
I am wondering if there are any other 40+ people like me who watched this show as kids and were moved my poor Joe's plight?
I so remember this show.
I liked it.
This brings back memories... it was this show that began my love affair with German Shepherds.
This needs a DVD release.
My friend used to tell us about this show, we all thought he was nuts. Guess he wasn't nuts.
@ThoughtTraveler I LOVED this show. Love the German Shepherd and it was very cool his name was Joe!
That's Paul Frees doing the narrating. He was also the Burgermeister Meisterburger in Santa Claus Is Coming to Town. You heard his voice a lot through the 60s, 70s and 80s.
It hasn't been officially released, but there are rumors that it will be released on DVD in the near future.
Joe was always one step ahead of his enemies and his dear human friend..Loved this show. Sorry it didn't last long.
Run Joe Run is like Max the Germany Shepherd Dog in Season 3 of the Bionic Woman. I loved Run Joe Run, Bionic Woman and Six Million Dollar.
It is possible to find some episodes from collectors. I have 4 episodes; one with Kristy McNichol.
Holy Bananas I remember this show, they used to tease me in school when this was on because of my name! wonder if there are any full episodes out there? lol Thanks for sharing!
Joe
I've told people about this show and nobody remembered it. Thank god I'm not crazy!
I always wanted for joe to be found by his friend and be safe .
A K9 version of The classic show "The Fugitive"
got these on dvd if anyone is interested
This series was only shown once in the UK, and I thought I was the only person who remembered it! My only memory of it was the shot from the titles where Joe climbs over the gate.

when i was a kid this show made me sad...i dont remember if he was ever reunited with his first master...does anybody know
stonedcommander Sergeant Will Cory was his trainer and he got recalled to active duty & the two never reunited.
Remarkable the Army gave up on catching him.
