To me, a South African, Richard Ayoade IS the Big Fat Quiz. I've been binge watching them. If Richard isn't there, I skip it. So, it's fair to say he's an international treasure.
Oh man, I haven't seen this one since it aired! I remember loving the Ayoade/Merchant combo, but this rewatch has reminded me how much I love Rose's "Wife #4 Already Shopping for a Divorce Lawyer"-energy paired with Ross's "Old Man Yells at Saveloy"-energy.
imagine how much better she'd look if she wasn't like "i've gotta leave the house looking worse than i did when i woke up. here's the animal sheers. now ruin the back of my head."
While Boris didn't literally say "I'll be back", his reference to Cincinnatus was to invoke the concept of a political leader going away for a bit and later returning, and "Hasta la vista" means "I'll see you later/again", so he was, effectively, saying "I'll be back".
I would love to see a couple of adults come out for the 'why are you famous' (whatever it's called) part and they tun out to be some of the original kids from the primary school all grown up.
“If you’ve got a relative that’s been affected by whatever the fuck Jonathon’s got, there’s probably a number you can call, but….. buggered if I know it.” 😂😂
Great line up. Please #bigfatquizoftheyear2024 take note! Must include most of these- richard Ayoade, stephen mercant , james acaster, maisie Adams, catherine Ryan, sara pasco, sarah millican, Judy love, wossy, Mel giedroich, Sue perkins, alan davies....
Jonathan wasn’t wrong, that Sugababes song is a banger - never heard it before 2024 but now it’s fully stuck in my head! 🤣 The fact that Rose, Maisie and Katherine all started singing along convinced me to google it!
I am Australian, I had no idea who Jonathan Ross was until I watched this show. He is genuinely hilarious. Shame he doesn’t have a bigger presence here.
@@ripdbtpoo1441 I liked Wossy on They Think It's All Over, but I really enjoyed moments when his team captain David Gower (former England cricket legend) got one over his sidekick.
I could have done without the anecdote of dog penis hair in his mouth though. Seems like the sort of thing you'd only share on national TV if your mind's going.
Is Richard Ayoade a vampire? He doesn't age, and he has good teeth. I don't care if he's British by origin, like I don't care if Americans are Americans by origin. I also adore Stephen Merchant, don't get me wrong. He's as British as you get down to the Vikings at Lindisfarne, if not to the earth pits after the Romans. He is to me the epitomy of British wit. If I had to name my two favorite comedians based on this episode, it would be them, as the only ones.
It's interesting watching British shows as an American. I can trace out how I'm here watching this. My mom turned me on to Monty Python. Learned abritish dry humor pretty early. Streaming gave me access to other shows, like The IT Crowd. Knowing those actors led me to Taskmaster. Taskmaster led me here. Stephen, you're funny AF, but you'll be that dude from Movie 43 first in my mind.
Liam Payne, who I respected as a musician and member of One Direction, was so lost at the end of the band’s career that I think it contributed to the end of his life. He was exceptionally talented and kind….I don’t think anyone should laugh at his efforts to work out his identity.
10:40 I knew a girl with a platypus, Their love life was truly lascivious. With toys and such flair, They'd make others stare, Their escapades were absolutely salacious!
I once met an odd female platypus Whose weirdness was voted unanimous Her eggs were extreme (Since she's monotreme) And bits of her could be quite venomous!
Richard Ayoade is a national treasure, and I love this show so much.
From an American, I wholeheartedly agree! Richard is absolutely amazing!
He looks better and better every year
To me, a South African, Richard Ayoade IS the Big Fat Quiz. I've been binge watching them. If Richard isn't there, I skip it. So, it's fair to say he's an international treasure.
Whereas Jonathan Ross proves himself to be increasingly irrelevant
I’d go so far as to call him an international treasure.
“I had a white saveloy, once.”
“Okay.”
…
“This is why you’re a chat show host, and not a guest.”
Three men, at the top of their game.
Years of working with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington have proven Stephens humour is just unreal.
Maisie's reaction to Millie Bright always makes me smile.
I’ve been beaming ear to ear watching that - bless her 😊
Maisie fangirling was the most wholesome moment I've ever seen on a Big Fat Quiz
The most hillarious one must have been Jack Whitehalls reaction to Mr. Blobby on the Big fat quiz of the 90:s
SubWolfer trapped Maisie in a constant state of fangrinning 😊
Maisie and Rose are both just the greastest
both seem so down to earth, genuine
It's the right reaction to have. Fucking horrifying.@@PaxofPI
Shes a horrible looking thing and not funny unless you mean funny to look at
The fact that the Shit emoji is actually voiced by Sir Patrick Stewart makes the entire interaction even funnier

You just have to love how Jimmy can absolutely roast someone but also laughs just as hard when he gets destroyed while still staying funny and nice
Oh, that's a laugh. I thought he had a tourettes bark.
That's strictly his TV persona
Totally, probably my favourite thing about him
Maisie's reaction to Millie is just adorable. So wholesome.
"Is that when you ate the White Saveloy?! Richards wit always on point
That has to be one of the top five most genuine laughs I’ve ever heard from Jimmy Carr.
Oh man, I haven't seen this one since it aired!

"It's a tough thing to bring back in a post-naval world"
Richard. Never change.
I guess he's into naval policy, considering his movie "Submarine"?
That guest jerry who couldnt keep his answers limited to yes or no was hilarious. Love that guy.
Jerry was a star : >
"Can I say yes now?...... Spot on!"
Jerry's brilliant!
His live stream during that storm was epic, but even on a calm day he comments like he's the Crocodile Hunter.
Maisie's fangirling moment is the most wholesome thing
The first time I saw Stephen Merchant, I thought "Damn Russel Howard had had a rough year"
I didn't recognise him without his hat!
😅
I see it
Also was funny for once.
This made me laugh harder then it should and no one around me understands why 😂
The chemistry they all have is so good
Hi n. KI

Richard’s delivery of “It’s chorizo, mate” was hilarious
Maisie Adam is adorable AND off the charts funny! Love her vibes ❤

i did not expect i would enjoy Jonathan's dad's jokes as much :)
Or his anecdotes about orally pleasuring canines.
1:02:57 “He just walked straight away” absolutely sent me
idk if i enjoyed them or the reactions to them but hey I guess it's a package deal and it just kept getting funnier!

The Richard and Stephen combo is everything I've ever wanted
No, I want Moss and Roy
Was waiting for this one. Thank you
It has been on Yt for a while, you can search for bfqoty and usually these episodes appear long before the official channel uploads them :-)
Waiting?? I was hoping not to die before seeing it !

So glad TH-cam exists, because we can watch UK tv in America.
I just learned the word "haberdashery" and I'm so thrilled about it!

The best bit when Maisy meets her heroe..so sweet.
Hero / Heroine = Heroe?
“They remained ahead” Looks like Stephen Merchant’s been… keeping count!

Well, I sure as hell wasn't expecting to see a Snapchatted-out Jonathan Ross at any point today, or ever, but my day is infinitely better for it.
I'm sad I'm just learning who Richard Ayoade is, the guy is hilarious!
He’s quite low key outside of his work. But he’s brilliant in pretty much everything he’s acted in!
Richard’s “white saveloy” follow-up should be immortalized in stone at Westminster Abbey…
