    This is fantastic I would personally recommend using trimming line instead of razor blades. From personal experience in the landscaping industry things will fly very far and fast when mowing. One of those blades breaking off could end in your neck.

    I can't get the wheels on my mower through the grass easily, I can't imagine those office chair wheels would work very well. And like someone else mentioned those blades are designed to be snapped off so there are likely to be razor sharp pieces flying from under this thing.

      The blades snap off from perpendicular force on the pre-scored seam line, not from force on the cutting edge. I just removed the tip from my work blade yesterday and I had to grab it with pliers and apply a good bit of force at 90 degrees to the cutting edge just to snap it off. These would be NO good for cutting projects if they broke just from the force of cutting.

    • @TruAnRksT
      @TruAnRksT 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Metqa
      Yeah well hit a rock with one spinning at high speed then comment on where they like to break..

    • @Metqa
      @Metqa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hit any blade against a rock and you are susceptible to damaging the blade and any person nearby. But that would be a case of user error not a failure of the product doing it's intended job of cutting objects softer than it. I don' t believe any lawnmower manufacturers recommend mowing rocks and stones no matter how strong their blades are.

    • @runsunpan6505
      @runsunpan6505 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Users hit a rock not because they want to, neither because manufacturers design the mower to do so. It's called "accident". Avoid hitting a rock is users job, but its designer's job to reduce the dangerous consequence of hitting rock accidentally.

    You could/should probably add some side panels so that the rotating blades are 'hidden' from outside both for helf and saftey and means you don't just chuck out cuttings to the sides.
    The alternative to metal blades might be as I see others have commented the cord that a strimmer uses or those plastic blades strimmers use. Ofcourse not as cheap as £1 ($1) blades... Maybe a strimmer centre with motor might make a better mower?

    The blades you used are OK... but they have a high probability of getting shredded into pieces. Even if they don't hit anybody, it would be unsafe to walk in a lawn with shards of that blade lying here and there. Reinforcing the blades with something sturdy (carbon fiber rods) might be a solution.. What do you say ?
