A raccoon did that to your trap . I caught one and waited until morning to dispatch him , but he was gone and my trap was ruined. They are vicious when trapped.
You will need to have Percy's tusks trimmed when they get longer as they can get razor sharp. You don't want him injuring Pearl, Gunner or a member of your family.
Gunner needs to be outside the fence to do his job. With all your property you need several LGDs with a quick way or short fence to jump over to protect your properties and families, also get some full size Donkeys to help, eventually the predators will know they will be killed if they cross over to your properties, make sure all the girls and Brandi. Are armed and know how to use them. Put up big hog traps and cameras, sorry but if you constantly worry about the deer, your dogs etc. The predators will keep on coming. You have to stop them now, however you need too, pin up your animals so they dont get hurt, but LGDs are bred to guard and they know they have a job to do, keeping his own family safe, your LGDs will always come back to their home. Set out traps of all kinds except the ones with teeth, check them daily, if one of your good animals is missing, go look for them. Teach him well and get at least 2 more, again they are bred for this, they know what to do. They have numerous coats of fur so they never get cold and they dry quickly, not too late to train Gabby and Gracie and they will do the same, they have jobs to do, and want to do, so train, love, feed and they will always come back, but sad to say, they will fight to their death to save you all, they can all be pets, BUT, let them do their jobs. They are working 🐕 🐶 🌭 🐕 🐶 🌭 🐕 dogs, praise with food and treats. They will love you all forever and thank you for letting them do their jobs, love you all, I'm from Springfield, Missouri.USA, fly 😮your flag daily with a spotlight on it showing the beauty of it...Pray!!!
Wow! That was some good black rich dirt you were gigging up to make a place for your trap! When done with the trap , bring some of that good dirt up to your house for your garden beds.
It looks good but usually it’s very acidic and bad to grow stuff in. You could have it tested but being under those trees for so long it gets acidic pretty bad.
As Percy gets older his tusks will grow. They will need to be trimmed on a regular basis or they can actually cause him some harm. Y’all have a blessed day.
Dutch, you know Longhorn Lester. His LGD, Sadie, kept leaving the Sanctuary, when they first got her. She was put in the fenced in area around the pond with the ducks, geese and pigs, who are not livestock that needs a guardian. They have pens to keep predators out. So, Sadie kept running off down the road, to find someplace she felt needed her with them to be guardian, i.e. goats, cattle, sheep. driven by instinct to be with and accepted as part of the herd. I know I commented this same info to Lester, and after trial and error, brought Sadie to JL Ranch where Lester’s Longhorns now reside on 50 acres, and she is doing what drives her to serve her purpose. And she is left there when Lester leaves, and when he returns daily to feed her and check on the longhorns, and she is there in the midst of them in the same area they are feeding or resting. She has no interest to do anything else except do guard duty and protect her herd family. Don’t keep your dog from having the life it is purpose driven to want.
That was a Racoon that did that to your trap.l had a family of racoons l trapped in traps like yours and got all but the big momma she tore the cage apart the same way and bent the cage door flap and twisted part of it and popped the hinge on top off. They can get very mad and are very strong.l was a DNR Warden for 8 years,l am retired, disabled and a sr.citizen now.l relocated all my racoons on to a DNR land were you can hunt and get to the big flowing trout creek and trout fish. And relocate that snapping turtle for everyones safety ,humans and animals too please.sending my luv and hugs and prayers to you all there.many blessings to you and your family.
Hello Dutch. You have many dog experts in your comment channel! Lol. The trap makes sense. For the back are maybe throw some logs back there maybe? I hope you can really start catching these predators.
I had a raccoon getting in my attic through screen vents in the eaves. We removed all the screens and replaced with metal vents. He literally bent a corner back on the metal vent but he didn't get in. They are extremely strong and know how to use their front paws like hands.
When I was young we always had a big garden. Dad planted a lot of field corn and when dry had to use hands to get it off the cob in a container. When cool dad would get two pigs and we kept corn soaking in 5 gal. buckets soaking and that is all but scraps we feed the hogs till time to butcher.
It's definitely time for gunner to do more indeapth training! Recall is a basic but life saving option! It has saved so many of my re trained rescue dogs, please put in the time to help gunner understand his needs! It could 100 💯 save his life.
Decades ago my dog would run off like gunner. I fed him once a day and let him run before his dinner. He would run all over and after getting tired and hungry come looking for me. Carried his food to his pen and he went in willingly.
My friends just got a Great Pyrenees it's about 3 mths old now and it has been staying up on their property with the 6 mthold Blue Heeler. Their other dog , the cow dog died but they have these 2 younger ones to take his place. Hopefully they will be good dogs for their homestead.n
Dutch get you one of the HogEye big pig traps for the wild Hogs then bury the other big traps in with some of the logs as a way to protect the sides of the trap then cover the logs up with the leaves and dirt so nothing can get out.
Soak corn in cheap strawberry soda. Works great in Louisiana. Get 5 foot pieces of 7 inch pvc. Place cap on end and partially bury at angle in dirt mound. Place baby chick in there. Coyote can’t resist. Once in they can’t get out. Cap other end and haul off to relocate or dispatch
It’s all about the adventure, the ,always Pray, has a plan for all of us… It wonderful to watch the girls grow ( I’m not is miles, not close ..) but we still are very much in . Blessings to your & yours be safe♥️🙏🌹
Build a plywood box open at one end and hatch at back where you bait from to take pressure off trap and keep it dark inside. Will also keep dirt from falling down in the trap.
When my husband trapped he had the best luck with the larger foot traps and a good dose of either coyote, rabbit or deer urine. I'm a little surprised he never caught a dog but he trapped further out in the country and there weren't any domestic dogs around. I wish you luck with the live trap. I think there's a learning curve to trapping coyote, it took him a while to get his methods successful
You've mentioned you have large raccoons on the property. I've had raccoons tear up a trap pretty good; and toss material to the back like yours. It's amazing to watch them grab hold off something with their hands.
Those traps were really damaged. Whatever animal was in there, it definitely was mad and wanted out. Please stay safe. I hope you have a great time at the Okie Expo. ❤
U might need to build a box to put around the trap just to keep the pressure off of it. Then cover the box with dirt. Make the box just big enough to be able to reach ur hand in to reset the trap if need be. I've had a large rat break out of a trap before. So I set another trap but I was waiting for it and took it out with a pellet rifle. Also had a decent sized possum so that to a trap before. I think it's time to set a hog trap on ur property for sure. Invest in one of those drop traps and trap some food.
Here in SE Texas we soak our corn in diesel before putting it in the trap. Deer won't touch it and the smell drives the hogs wild. It's like pig crack.
I was going to suggest piling leaves around the trap first and then dirt on top of that to keep the dirt from filling the trap up plus it would be a natural sent. Also handling the trap without gloves is not recommended for trapping coyotes.
Good luck with your traps. Ed seems to know what he's talking about when it comes to trapping. Good luck catching the predators. Hope the Expo is going well. GOD bless y'all.
Hello Dutch from South Western Ontario. Good video. Hope you all have a fantastic time at the Okie Expo this weekend. Good luck and take care. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
You need to get some more cameras and place them pointing at your traps. That way, you can see just what is setting off your traps. Eddy family farms has put cameras pointed at their traps.
Dutch if you get the halo dog collars you want have to worry about the dogs going to far from home. When you set up your traps just shorten the distance your dogs are allowed to go . Plus you can use the system to bring them back home too
If you want to catch pigs and keep the deer out soak your corn in diesel or just spray diesel on it I know it doesn't sound good but it works great for us Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
Dude, that seriously looks like the crate I bought for my 20lb terrier. He destroyed that thing in 2 hours just like that! Any angry animal like raccoon, possum, pig, etc can destroy one of those traps if they are desperate. I could send you the aforementioned terrier to get after those critters! My chinchilla could use a break from him. 😂😂
You need a lure for your traps. A string or wire with primary feather that can move and flutter in the wind. Covering the traps is good but you put a lot of scent there. Fishing can be the same, after you catch a fish and get it all over your hands the fish bite more!
Tucker is just doing what male turkey March through May is breeding season for wild turkeys and Some turkeys may be seen acting aggressively by pecking, following, or exhibiting other intimidating behavior towards people. Males will puff out their feathers, fan their tails, and "strut their stuff" while gobbling and making other vocalizations. This behavior is common during the breeding season and other times of year when turkeys are establishing social dominance or status within the flock. Wave you arms to scare them. Get a whistle they hate loud noises. He is trying to become boss. It is very hard to break them from this
It won't work because you covered the rod that runs from the bait trip plate to the trap door. It's on the outside of the cage. Even a few leaves can prevent the trap from functioning. An animal bumping that rod can set the trap off too. Try building a wooden "box" with the front and back open. Be sure that nothing touches the rod or impedes it's movement (Extremely important).
Those little cans of oysters,, are usually smoked oysters. You need raw oysters. Even better to find fresh water clams, more than likely to even find some in your creek.
We have caught over the year, 3 different years a bobcat and rehomed them to an orchard. All we did is bait with tuna and covered the live trap with a tarp. We had one bobcat that freaked out so bad when we went to move him and the cage to the truck that he busted out the backside of the live cage. Still worked, he hasn't been back for years! We have chickens and rabbits.
look like a wild hog mess up the small pen. you do not want a wild hog hold of your body they will mess you up. so be safe and have protection on ya'' at all times even the girls. be bless and safe. SAVANNAH TN.
I think we saw the turtle you released crossing the highway after the Expo yesterday!!! 😂 unlikely--but it was about the same size! The expo was great--you can tell loads of effort was taken to make it happen 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Thank you! Good luck on your traps--probably a raccoon, they are cute determined little beasts. 🤓
That would be a good place for a garden dirt looks good. Anyway you can build a small place you can go get in at night sit and wait for them to come in or a tree stand up in the trees. Just a thought. I so wish I could come to the Okie show would love to meet y'all. Financially impossible. At one time I could of driven out but I don't drive anymore. I will watch I here and enjoy it
Gunner was so excited to get out from those piggies caged up to run with the German shepherds. Bless his heart .. thanks Dutch. That soil under the leaves looks great for planting veggies. Could just dig a hole place cage part way in it with the trap leaning out in front of the dirt hole.. put the bait in it first. Hope this you are doing catches a predictor
make a hog trap by using cattle panels with t-posts. make it round about 12' in diameter with a hole in the fence about 5' wide. connect another piece of cattle panel about 7' wide. connect the separate 7' piece at the start of the opening. have it bend slightly so that it will push hard against the panel opening at the other end. put a rubberized connector from the separate panel to the round panel so that when released it will pull the separate piece closed tightly. have a panel on the ground on the other side of the round from the door. have it so it will release door when stepped on to eat corn. i'll try to find a video to send you that will show it. works best
Do you think you caught a wild hog? I'm hoping your sweetie Hopey is feeling better. Wishing you, your sweetie pies and all the rest going to the okie homestead meet up have a blessed and wonderful time. God bless yas
Said all along,a good rifle w/ night scope.Take care of your problems and have fun doing it .
@leroy1144---I agree---stay up all night and nail them all. Then use some of that wild game for yotes and coons.
A raccoon did that to your trap . I caught one and waited until morning to dispatch him , but he was gone and my trap was ruined. They are vicious when trapped.
Yep they are strong 💪
Either that or the big snaping turtle as both can destroy those live traps.
They are part of the bear family, in some way. The can whoop a coyote, a pack of dogs. They are some very strong, and destructive.
You will need to have Percy's tusks trimmed when they get longer as they can get razor sharp. You don't want him injuring Pearl, Gunner or a member of your family.

Train Gunner to obey. Spend time training him.
They are in denial. Dog should’ve been trained from day one and been part of the family pack. It’s not the dogs fault. It’s the owners’s fault.
As Percy gets older his tusks will grow. They will need to be trimmed on a regular basis or they can actually cause him some harm. Y’all have a blessed day.

Thank you I said the same thing.
Agreed

You're just gonna have to take care of the problem off camera.
Best of luck to you, please protect your animals
Had a raccoon chew, break out of a live trap. Literaly destroying the wire to create an exit.

Love your videos and enjoy watching them. May the lord bless and protect you and your family and the animals

Brother Dutch , I know what messed the trap up !! It was a raccoon with wire cutters in his back pocket 😂

Possums, or Racoons... with small paws or hands is my guess Gunner was barking ,,after sundown and in the😅late dark---he has a deep loud bark
hogs travel in groups. of 3 -10
Here in SE Texas we soak our corn in diesel before putting it in the trap. Deer won't touch it and the smell drives the hogs wild. It's like pig crack.
Do you even know how to read
Love it! “Let’s dance boy”.
good evening from South Carolina
Cover trap with cloth or plastic so dirt will not fill it up and not work.
I was going to suggest piling leaves around the trap first and then dirt on top of that to keep the dirt from filling the trap up plus it would be a natural sent. Also handling the trap without gloves is not recommended for trapping coyotes.
Hello Dutch and family
Tasmanian devil for shore🐹
You need to get ahold of Daniel at Arns Family Farm and talk to him about borrowing on of his hog traps.
He’s already used his trap before but had no cell service. But he could use one closer to his house
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck with your traps. Ed seems to know what he's talking about when it comes to trapping. Good luck catching the predators. Hope the Expo is going well. GOD bless y'all.
18:04 Alright Dutch I'm calling you on this!!! you can't kid a Kidder you just wanted to play with the Bobcat
You need to have Jack come over and teach you to set traps. He knows what he is doing!
Hi Sean. That was one strong creature to do that to a trap. Have an awesome time at the oke expo. Take care and God bless 💕🙏
Hello Dutch from South Western Ontario. Good video. Hope you all have a fantastic time at the Okie Expo this weekend. Good luck and take care. 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
I hope you get something
You need to get some more cameras and place them pointing at your traps. That way, you can see just what is setting off your traps. Eddy family farms has put cameras pointed at their traps.
Same thing happen to my trap , and it was a raccoon. Fixed it with a wire hanger. She never got her butt out.
❤keep the videos coming !
30:06 ~ 🐾🐕 _~~ Bark all niiight ~ 🐕 ~ Sleep all daaay ~~_ 🐕🐾
Good evening from Syracuse NY brother and everyone else thank you for sharing your adventures and your farm
Gunner is fully trained ❤ the only reason he doesn't listen to dutch is because he(DUTCH) doesn't know the commands and Dutch doesn't work with him
I agree
Hope youve got more luck catching some predators...stay safe and see you on the next one
Dutch I hope you catch those predators and keep your animals safe even your children. I don’t want to see any of your animals killed. God bless
Dutch if you get the halo dog collars you want have to worry about the dogs going to far from home. When you set up your traps just shorten the distance your dogs are allowed to go . Plus you can use the system to bring them back home too
I think what busted your trap was a Big Trash Panda! A.K.A. Big Raccoon!
If you want to catch pigs and keep the deer out soak your corn in diesel or just spray diesel on it I know it doesn't sound good but it works great for us
Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video

Great job. I often wonder if you are going to clear some of the leaf matter and plant grass seeds. Most enjoyable thanks. Chris from England

Definitely those are wild penguins. Very difficult to catch.
.?? Wild penguins ?????
You've never seen them, there terrible here in Florida on our beach?? 😀😀😀@@mistyk.8084
Try covering your live traps with a tarp and then hide it with leaves and light branches.
Tucker is just doing what male turkey
March through May is breeding season for wild turkeys and
Some turkeys may be seen acting aggressively by pecking, following, or exhibiting other intimidating behavior towards people. It is very hard to break them from this
It is so funny to watch you with that Turkey. You are bigger than it is and scared to death of it.
I have a Great Pyrenees with a great recall but I do train him every day…..and he was 1 yr old when I got him from the humane society.
It won't work because you covered the rod that runs from the bait trip plate to the trap door. It's on the outside of the cage. Even a few leaves can prevent the trap from functioning. Enjoyed your video and seeing the animals ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Those little cans of oysters,, are usually smoked oysters. You need raw oysters. Even better to find fresh water clams, more than likely to even find some in your creek.
Stop
Gunner is doing a great job! Enjoy your vlog. I too believe it was a racoon that destroyed your trap.
Ran over here from the Eddy's, now a subscriber! Looking forward to getting into your content! 🥰
raccoons can destroy a trap like that .they also seem to be able to trip them without getting caught ..
You look like your going to make moonshine with that corn now.
look like a wild hog mess up the small pen. you do not want a wild hog hold of your body they will mess you up. so be safe and have protection on ya'' at all times even the girls. be bless and safe.
It's looking good Dutch
I hope you catch the animals that are predators!
I’m glad you’re not giving up!😊
Btw, I really appreciate your videos! I find all of this so very interesting!
Thank you for your videos
Hope this you are doing catches a predictor
wow that is crazy about the live trap. Hope you will figure out what got out!
Wow 24 eggs amazing 👏 ❤
The crap falling on the pressure plate is probably what set it off.tarp over the top then dirt on top of that will work
make a hog trap by using cattle panels with t-posts. make it round about 12' in diameter with a hole in the fence about 5' wide. connect another piece of cattle panel about 7' wide. connect the separate 7' piece at the start of the opening. have it bend slightly so that it will push hard against the panel opening at the other end. put a rubberized connector from the separate panel to the round panel so that when released it will pull the separate piece closed tightly. have a panel on the ground on the other side of the round from the door. have it so it will release door when stepped on to eat corn. i'll try to find a video to send you that will show it. works best
Wow that turkey has some long legs
Should have put some boards around it or a tarp or something to keep the dirt from going in the cage. The dirt might keep it from going off correctly.
Check the ends of the wires that were broken on the trap. Do thy look like they were bent back and forth or cut with pliars?
Ha ha. My Grandmama's male turkey hated the color red. Got loose and flew one the hood of a red car and scratched it up. Forgot about that.😂🦃🛑
LGDs only run off if they have no obedience trained in them. 🐾🇺🇸🐕🦺🦮
Wish I had water pressure like that lol
P.S. You got otters, you got fresh water clams. Otters thrive on them..
Do U have bears ?
Can't wait to see if you catch anything
Love you guys HERVEY BAY QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA
Build A three sided box bury the box and cover it dirt and leaves and slide trap in
Easter is next Sunday, turkey would taste pretty good. LOL
Ahh...leave the turkey alone...he's not that bad and protects the other birds with displaying his beautiful open feathers!!!
My husband and I lost traps that way to raccoons. Those cute little fingers are strong like vice grips. It made us take some jobs personal.
