Bobcats are mostly sight hunters. You need something visual to draw them in from afar. Most trappers use some feathers on a string or even use a CD that will flash in the sun. If you can get their attention from far away, their curiosity will bring them close and then smell and sound should get them interested in that chicken. Good luck, Dutch!
You have to think of the mindset of how the animals eat. Domestic cats imitate it all the time if you watch them play. Mine practices her skills by sneaking up on my dogs. Male cats will have a sexual experience by catching their prey 😮

Sean, bobcats have a unique bark. You might want to do a google search and see if what you heard sounded like that. My dad raised bobcats, so we had them at home, and have heard it myself. You had just seen the bobcat, chances are it was the bobcat.

You will want to make sure nothing blocks the door when it drops. It has to shut completely to lock in place so it won't get out.
I was thinking the same thing about the trap door when I seen some of the limbs laying on it.

You guys should get a flock of Guinea fowl for the Homestead and a flock for the creek property to help with the ticks.
They won’t last in the woods here, predators take them out!

They tried! Gone overnight.
They had some when they 1st moved here and the flock left the property, they are hard to keep on just 1 property as they travel pretty far
