for those with the random feeling for it to be a solid strong number in the end, after 30 days and 465 items later, declutter 35 more. you'll end up with 500 items out and it's satisfying
Okay some video ideas: how to deal with different cathegories like personal things (souvenirs/keepsakes) or hobby things etc. - Reading everyday personality development books for 30 days - How to stay kind of minimal with everything digital (photos, apps, notes,…) - or maybe a video about what people buy and what you use instead (like some people use many makeup removal wipes and I just use soap and my hands) - easy recipes with little packaging waste…
I love the "kind of minimal" about digital clutter 😂 It's definitely something I struggled with way before being a "content creator". A lot of methods have been put to the test now. That would be interesting to share. 😊 Thank you for the suggestions 🙏
This was a great video. I’m trying to declutter but I do find it hard. I really enjoyed seeing what you got rid of, as it made me realise even small clutter like paper clips can be thrown away/recycled if not needed, and it will all help in the long run. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
I like to do the challenge the otherway around: 30 on te first day en 1 on the last. I have noticed it prevents me from failing, as the ampunt gets easier.
didnt know what to expect from the video. But for some reason i found it entertaining. Just you describing day by day what you got rid of was interesting. I kept looking at the screen to see the different items were
Hi, I'm 74. I've been getting rid of jewelry I don't wear, craft items I haven't used, and tchotchkes no one wants. I discovered minimalism a few years ago. Near Chicago. Tina, Al's wife
Yeeeah new video! I‘m already a big fan. Your editing style is so unique, oh boy laying out all the things you sorted out every day to film them must have been crazy. Such a great work, I love your humor and all the little jokes. Can‘t wait to see your channel growing 🫶🏼
I get way too attached to stuff emotionally, makes decluttering a mountain of a challenge. Journaling helps, that journal called Throw It Away by Guru Notebooks was cool.
Completely understandable. It can sure be an overwhelming process. Maybe this game makes it a bit more light to you or helps you get your momentum going. 🫂 And I haven't heard about that journal before. Gonna take a look. Thank you for sharing!
I volunteer for a non profit food pantry ministry and thrift store, so being a minimalist most of my adult life (now in my late 40s) this has always been easy more recent as I prior worked part time non profit thrift and now volunteer for another😊
Excellent decluttering video. Three decades before the recent Minimalism movement, Elaine St James wrote the 1994 best-seller "Simplify Your Life" which has 100 excellent suggestions.
I kept buying more cabinets to store my stuff. One day I realized the storage was closing in on me and that I didn’t need more storage. I needed less stuff. I’ve been working on this for about two or three years. Even the kids are on board. I’m no longer keeping stuff for sentimental reasons other than a few things from my childhood. I sold the jewelry I was never going to wear. I just threw out 40 years of birthday and holiday cards. I got rid of Knick knacks that were stored in my out building. Other than outside toys or seasonal stuff, if I don’t keep it in the house, then I don’t need it. I realized I used to be happier when I had less stuff. I think my kitchen needs to be decluttered more. It’s always a work in progress. I donated a bunch of blankets today. How many blankets does a person really need? I now have a few Christmas items in my trunk to donate. I will thin out more when I decorate this year. I’m only planning on decorating my mantel and having one tree. And hanging my Rudolph and Clarice wreath on the door. (My favorite movie). I put a tote full of remote control cars on the porch for my 13 year old to go thru but he hasn’t done it yet. I’ll let him slide a little as he just broke his wrist last week. He’s fine. If they would let go of some legos I would be happy. lol! Letting go of books after I read them. I never read a book more than once. Not often anyway unless it’s educational. Less is more! I’m trying! Hoping to have the house down to pretty much the minimum before the holidays hit so I won’t be distracted with too much junk everywhere!
Yes! I am 48 and a minimalist before it was really 'minimalism'. Back in the 90s, we just called it Simple Living! We often hung out on AOL and Yahoo chats with Homesteaders and or a cross section with early days of Mr Money Mustache bc there wasn't a lot on the newish internet social wise to discuss with others😂
6th time I'm impressed! I've been on my minimalism journey for a year and a half, and of course I'm still struggling 😂 Sooo these are the topics that I'd love to hear from you. Since you mentioned that you bought stuff to represent your personality and to cover up your insecurity, and now you let go of your possessions, I'd like to know What you define yourself by instead of stuff? and How you deal with insecurity? Do you ever get bored with this lifestyle, and when you need some novelty, what do you do instead of buying things? Also, I'd love to hear your thoughts on how minimalism affects your mental health and creativity aspect.
Love this video totally inspiring. Can you do a video on what to do with the stuff,I mean clothes can be donated, also books or give as presents, but what about things like the rubber bands, the screws or kitchen cloths what do you do with them. Is all garbage?
I have another video that talks about what to do with the clutter and how to deal with the hole process here: th-cam.com/video/o0sjglZ6Dsk/w-d-xo.html Maybe that helps answer your question. But feel free to ask again if I can help further. Happy decluttering 😊
Subscribed 😊👍. I'm in Porto, where do you drop off items that you don't want any more but are still good to use? If it's clothes I drop off at Humana, but household items is difficult 😬 any suggestions for you or other Portuguese viewers. Obrigada 😁
So cool to see some video snippets of your journey to minimalism! It‘s actually in many points very similar to mine and because of your perspective and your way to tell your story I can now tell my story with better words too, I hope this makes sense somehow…
How do you get rid of things? Do you sell them? Donate them? Because you decide what to get rid of, but it takes time to actually get it out of the home.... Just curious 😅
The answer is always: it depends. 🙈 I have another video talking about that in case you want to check that out 👇 th-cam.com/video/o0sjglZ6Dsk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=nAAsL_jYixOPGLoq
Exact same reasons 🫂🙃 There's something very poetic about film photography. I absolutely love it. I remember when I got my Diana, I thought it was such a cute camera and not expensive at all. Until I developed the first roll. Then I got the catch. Medium format is a whole new game 😂💸 That just comes as another proof that the item's price is never just the price tag.
That really depends on the item. You can watch my previous video "How to declutter: an easy guide for a stress free life" that I recorded simultaneously and that also says what I did with the decluttered items.
Sorry this Video is not making much sense to me as long I don't know what happened with all that stuff. Especially the cloth seemed to me still good. Where is it gone? The Minimalism is not about throwing away. It's about respecting the stuff you have. That's why Marie Kondo is saying "Thank you" to everything she is giving away.
looool love your sense of humor! just one question, sorry if you answered in the video, but what do you do with the decluttered objects? have you thrown them away immediately? do you keep them in a separated box until the 30th day?
@forget.me.not. Thank you and that's a great question! I didn't made it explicit in the video because honestly, it depends. According to the "official rules" the item needs to be out of your home by midnight that day. Even though I understand the principle of this "rule" (and then again, the goal is to not restrict yourself to rules but rather motivate you to declutter), I don't really agree to it in the sense that I would rather group other similar items and take them to a more responsible destination than just the trash: for example for donation. Doing this every single day it's kinda exhausting and can break the game. Also, life happens and we wont be 24/7 available it. But as always, just my opinion. Everyone should do whatever works for themselves.
@@BeaMinimalista I agree with you! Thanks to you I'm doing the challenge. I'm sending some pictures of the objects to my friends, in case they need or want something, so I'm not throwing them right away. Also, this is one of the reasons I'm always accumulating stuff: If I find something that is still useful, I keep it at home, waiting for somebody to use it😅
@@BeaMinimalistaI haven’t played the “game” but I keep filling up my trunk until it’s full or I need to empty it to go get groceries. Lol! The donation center is about 25 minutes or so away. I wish we had one closer.
Perhaps someone pointed it out earlier, but your maths is way out. You got rid of about 455 items. My maths isn't too hot, but you add up not multiply.
