Golf at its best, colourful characters like Norman, Pavin and Woosie competing on a marvellous course. Much more entertaining than the one dimensional bomb and gouge we get served up today.
FINALLY! I had this on a VHS tape and wore it out! One of the greatest final rounds on one of the greatest courses in the world. I wanted Norman to win this US Open so bad but alas it was not to be.
Incredible to think that Greg Norman won only 2 Major titles. He had so many opportunities to win more, and a combination of cruel luck and poor decisions cost him so much. He was World No 1 for more than 300 weeks and that alone speaks volumes about what a great talent he was, especially when compared to players like Corey Pavin and Tom Lehman, who both managed one major each.
For Greg to win, everyone had to get out of his way. No doubt, he was the best player of the era. If u had to construct a top 20 players, he would receive consideration.
Greg Norman was the best driver of the golf ball be it with the persimmon headed driver or the metal head ....how he only won two majors baffles me . Fair enough faldo was a great player ,but Larry mize and sandy Lyle were heartbreaking defeats for Greg. But mize or Lyle while great golfers they weren't a patch on faldo
I'd have to watch again to see if Norman got ahead of himself and made bad decisions in this Open, but what I noticed was a lot of putts that burned the edges; just a lot of bad luck. I agree though that bad decisions cost him in several Masters and other majors.
I wonder if he just failed to practice enough. He was so gifted that he might have short-shrifted practice. He was such a big star with a lot of outside money-making interests. Point is collapse under pressure comes from lack of preparation. It would make sense. Uncertainty kills performance.
With that graphic that came up for Americans without a major, Pavin, Lehman and DL3 all won a major at some point. Pavin of course won this US Open, Lehman won the ‘96 Open Championship and Love won the ‘97 PGA.

Great stuff, doesn't seem 25 years ago... But I had to laugh "corey is very religious" oh dear, I think he was having a minute with his heart going ten to penny pal!!!
This is great Johnny and the old crew. Corey Pavin is the epitome of someone that plays to his strengths and hits a lot of cool shots.
Corey Pavin was my favorite Golfer growing up. Walked beside him at the Genesis Open. Such a humble guy
That Pavin 4 wood on 18, remember watching it live like it was yesterday!!!
whodeany13 very little bottle when push came to shove
Goosbumbs everytime i see that shot on 18 by pavin
Followed CP at Southern Hills one year. Guy is a pure artist. Carves his rock on every shot.

What wonderful reactions and emotion from Pavin. Great stuff!
Great Champion, Great Championship!
Thanks for keeping original aspect ratio. So much better!

US open brings out the nerves on those crusty greens
Same! I'm so glad they aired this one to watch again and made a special
First time I really watched golf. Went to Golf USA the next day and bought my first set the rest is history 🏌️♂️⛳
Bringing home the cash while rockin that stash. My man Corey.
That young left-hander looks promising. He'll probably win a few U.S. Opens in his career.
I still haven't seen anyone stay on the ball as well as Corey Pavin does.
When golf was a game of shot making and strategy. Sadly in the modern game no room for players like Pavin, so sad.
“I’m sure there will be other opens for Phil”. Well...
2020 will likely be his last chance - his ultimate chance for revenge at Winged Foot.
@@TheLighterDark He'll be leading by 2 and find a way to fk it up. In his DNA. ;)
Hahahahaha
A few days ago I watched the 1996 Classic Finish. Two rough finishes for Love III.
The year of the ‘stache! 😃
1:13:21 The leadup to Corey Pavin’s famous four-wood.

Yep, Norman just wasn't consistent enough in big spots.
Amazing how many majors where Norman contended. Bad luck and some bad decision making conspired against him.

can you please upload the official film of the 1995 U.S Open to celebrate NBC's return to broadcasting USGA
Johnny was superb on this broadcast

Hey it's Baby Phil!
See 1:13:10 for climax
I’ve played that course it’s the toughest I’ve ever played
I used to have a Cleveland Vas 2 iron, to be honest it was very easy to hit
1:14:00 What you came here for...

is Pavin still using the "garden tools" at this open? I get mixed accounts

If u told me this was the British open, I would believe u

1:36:21 " I tried to hit a low draw"... take note amateurs
It's fun watching Norman gag his brains out.
Ah, back when there was a true Power vs. Finesse dichotomy, and power didn't always win.
Pavin playing possibly the ugliest set of golf irons ever
I'm always looking at cellphone
The shot on 17 by Norman....that's almost his career in a nutshell: push right, when it gets tight. He lost more than 5 Majors with that shot.
LoveⅢ and Mickelson is an iron man
Gutty little bruin #thestacheisback
Man these guys really fell apart
Watch out for this one, it’s the shot of his life
