I was shocked to learn of the departure of the former band from Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Although we wish Frankie well with the new band members as he cements his retirement, it is heart breaking that the band members who stood with Frankie for so many years will not be the ones to see him off to enjoy his new life. I may be biased but no guitar player will ever be able to mimick Jubu! He was one of the highlights of each Maze concert! We wish all of you well! 8:01

Frankie was ill and who knows what part he did or didn’t play in this, he might have been bamboozled by the management himself. Frankie was a straight up guy and would NEVER partake in this disruption of his band. This is sad. Frankie is gone now and left his blessings on TMF I’m sure. He loves his brothers. However, there are times when you have to take a stance for professionalism, dignity and respect. I am glad that the band made the decision to stand together which I know was difficult. I’ve been listening since 1976. Saw their first concert in Seattle and met them at the airport on the way back to SF the next day as we were on the same flight. Ended up being friends with Roame and later on Philip. Had some pretty good times up in Lafayette. Been living out of the country for awhile now and I only found out about this now after Frankie passed. (RIP) I was watching a video and seen another dude on percussion and it wasn't Roame. Starting digging a little and found TMF. Sad to hear this in your video how it all went down. I have to say though, listening to your versions of the Maze songs on your site, man, these are good. The sound is there and the new singer can sing! But now is the group that was backing up Frankie, going to carry the name Maze? After listening to you guys and all the history, you should all be using the name now. Right? I mean it was Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Now that he’s passed, shouldn’t you all rightfully be Maze? Roame is there. The sound is there and let’s face it, you all have been there for quite some time. Anyway, to TMF, keep the Maze sound going and also your original stuff! All the best! I did not see the normal Band members also the solo guitar playing of Golden Time of Day with Jubu !!! I'm a true follower of Frankie Beverly and Maze since they hit the Music scene. I've seen every showing in La except one and that was TH-cam theater with Isley Brothers. I will continue to support this band I Love Frankie Beverly he doesn't have to sing as long as the Band is playing, myself along with the audience does the singing. Thank you Band for always making me Happy and feeling good after your concerts. Energy is great now I don't know but I will continue to support you guys. Sorry this has happened and continue RIP Joe.❤
Management comes in and make it about them, this was a well oiled machine, all Management had to do was make sure things were straight to keep going, instead they made changes and made it about them, instead Maze (TMF), Mr. Beverly and their fan base......sad.......SO SAD!!!!
My first and only time seeing Maze in person was in Hammond,In. for my 50th birthday…my wife surprised me. A long time lover of Maze and what I remember was Bear popping that bass and JuBu’s solo…😢I literally had tears man…So I can’t wait till y’all come to St Louis, I’ll be there ✊🏾
My Lord! Thank you for your honesty. Mr. Douglas was indeed a good man. We are not prefect. So much has happened after his death that was very deceiving. No one has spoken or given him honor where honor was due. He was a hard worker for the company with no respect given after his death. Shame! The music industry has truly changed from family to all business. As you enter this new journey I know that God will lead and protect you no matter how difficult it may be. Just know that as long as God is place first you will be fine. People will always say things that may not be true. Stay strong. May God continue to bless each of you in your new journey.

After 20 plus years, that was a family. Even though they were not the original band, they built something special and added their special touch to it. That was their DNA just listen to Golden Time of Day and listen to Jubu. Unreal response and that was all Jubu.
Make sure you guys have a band agreement for the new band (TMF)and trademark the new name.. I would advise consulting an entertainment attorney moving forward, I wish you guys the best🎵

I’ve seen you guys perform a couple of times in my life. Although, Mr. Beverly’s voice want what it used to be, the band was and it didn’t matter if we understood him or not. The band was on point. It was the expressions from Vance when he hit a note or Jubu playing the guitar like only he can. Can’t forget about Bear and the rest of the crew. I hate the breakup but I’m 100% behind TMF! Great job, Frankie and Maze, are the GOAT. I have seen Maze in concert 7 times in concert and are the best. Frankie, was an excellent singer but it is time for him to relax and take it easy and enjoy all the great music he and Maze, made for us.

Frankie Beverley owns the songs, the band didn't write or produce the music, they just played the instruments. A few years ago there was a interview Frankie did explaining the songs and the group. TMF can continue to play and sing the songs. Same think happen to Lake Side. The split and both groups sing the songs. But the songs belong to the artist.

There’s nothing confusing about it. Frankie Beverly owns the songs, but TMF has the legal right to perform the songs anywhere, anytime. That goes for anyone who wishes to perform songs no matter who the artist is. That’s why there are Tribute Bands and Wedding Bands, and Cover Bands, Jam Bands Etc. That’s it… not complicated at all. I got into Frankie beverty back in 79. Show me and my wife got married. We both love maze. I'll go to all his shows and his band their muses awesome when things are bad for me. I put my inspiration close on. I grabbed my black beauty which is my good time. And I turn on Maze Free to frankly Beverly and this music from the organization. The truth is, some elements of a band are irreplaceable and others are not. With the exception of Roame, none of the members of TMF were anywhere in the picture when MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly became an established band with a catalog of hits. MAZE was already a phenomenon long, long before the current players in TMF became members, and had NOTHING to do with CREATING this catalog or its recording, so these claims of carrying the same “DNA” are not holding up in my opinion. Without Frankie, with all do respect to Roame, it’s not MAZE, but essentially a tribute band, let’s just keep it real and enjoy the music.

Correction, musical DNA is far more than what you think it is. It has everything to do with the musicians hearts and souls that reshaped the music of Maze over a twenty year period. All you need to do is open you ears and listen to a track from the original band versus a live video of the band from the last twenty years... Completely different approach. So its an insult to our intelligence and our contribution to the legacy of Maze for you to dismiss us out of hand as nothing but a tribute band???... That's exactly what Frankie's management did to us and that's was why I said what I did!!! If any artist is so great by themselves, then let them stand on the stage and entertain without their band... No tracks recorded by a band, NO MUSIC at all. Let's see how long audiences would line up to pay for that! Oh and FYI, Larry "Bear Williams" Kimpel former musical director of Maze and current of TMF recorded Bass Guitar on the majority of Frankie Beverly and Maze' last album, "Back To Basics". I’ve been listening since 1976. Saw their first concert in Seattle and met them at the airport on the way back to SF the next day as we were on the same flight. Ended up being friends with Roame and later on Philip. Had some pretty good times up in Lafayette. Been living out of the country for awhile now and I only found out about this now after Frankie passed. (RIP) I was watching a video and seen another dude on percussion and it wasn't Roame. Starting digging a little and found TMF. Sad to hear this in your video how it all went down. I have to say though, listening to your versions of the Maze songs on your site, man, these are good. The sound is there and the new singer can sing! But now is the group that was backing up Frankie, going to carry the name Maze? After listening to you guys and all the history, you should all be using the name now. Right? I mean it was Maze featuring Frankie Beverly. Now that he’s passed, shouldn’t you all rightfully be Maze? Roame is there. The sound is there and let’s face it, you all have been there for quite some time. Anyway, to TMF, keep the Maze sound going and also your original stuff! All the best!

Thank you Mr. Williams for clarifying this I just watched the New Orleans showing and a couple other ones. I did not see the normal Band members also the solo guitar playing of Golden Time of Day with Jubu !!! I'm a true follower of Frankie Beverly and Maze since they hit the Music scene. I've seen every showing in La except one and that was TH-cam theater with Isley Brothers. I will continue to support this band I Love Frankie Beverly he doesn't have to sing as long as the Band is playing, myself along with the audience does the singing. Thank you Band for always making me Happy and feeling good after your concerts. Energy is great now I don't know but I will continue to support you guys. Sorry this has happened and continue RIP Joe.❤

Management comes in and make it about them, this was a well oiled machine, all Management had to do was make sure things were straight to keep going, instead they made changes and made it about them, instead Maze (TMF), Mr. Beverly and their fan base......sad.......SO SAD!!!!
My first and only time seeing Maze in person was in Hammond,In. for my 50th birthday…my wife surprised me. A long time lover of Maze and what I remember was Bear popping that bass and JuBu’s solo…😢I literally had tears man…So I can’t wait till y’all come to St Louis, I’ll be there ✊🏾
My Lord! Thank you for your honesty. Mr. Douglas was indeed a good man. We are not prefect. So much has happened after his death that was very deceiving. No one has spoken or given him honor where honor was due. He was a hard worker for the company with no respect given after his death. Shame! The music industry has truly changed from family to all business.
As you enter this new journey I know that God will lead and protect you no matter how difficult it may be. Just know that as long as God is place first you will be fine. People will always say things that may not be true. Stay strong. May God continue to bless each of you in your new journey.

Well done a very professional and dignified explanation on what has been happening. Having played Maze music as a DeeJay and enjoyed concerts I wish both TMF and the FB all the best in the world. After 20 plus years, that was a family. Even though they were not the original band, they built something special and added their special touch to it. That was their DNA just listen to Golden Time of Day and listen to Jubu. Unreal response and that was all Jubu.

I met Bear in at Detroit Metro Airport years ago, and he was going to do a gig with Rachell Farrell. He was on a Bobby Lyle album, that I really dug., and I told him I was trying to cop his licks on the album. He said that's what they're there for brother. COOL DUDE, Excellent Bassist. I’ve seen you guys perform a couple of times in my life. Although, Mr. Beverly’s voice want what it used to be, the band was and it didn’t matter if we understood him or not. The band was on point. It was the expressions from Vance when he hit a note or Jubu playing the guitar like only he can. Can’t forget about Bear and the rest of the crew. I hate the breakup but I’m 100% behind TMF! Nope. Sometimes things are not as soap operaish as you'd like them to be. It's that simple. They dissed us constantly, and we got tired of it. We still love FB and the music and that's why we carried on playing it. But stay tuned for our new single release this coming Friday!

Great job, Frankie and Maze, are the GOAT. I have seen Maze in concert 7 times in concert and are the best. Frankie, was an excellent singer but it is time for him to relax and take it easy and enjoy all the great music he and Maze, made for us.

As we all know the music industry is very cut throat. Ive followed Maze ever since i heard them and you have so many fans here in England, the shows at the apollo theatre in Hammersmith are legendary. Rest assured all true maze fans will keep the faith and support TMF. We all have amazing memories of the performances and the music will be with us forever.
The new band sounds awful. I wish management would come come to an agreement with the old band. You guys were the bomb and carried Frankie when his voice was failing during a concert. God is in control. You guys will be back with him.

Frankie Beverley owns the songs, the band didn't write or produce the music, they just played the instruments. A few years ago there was a interview Frankie did explaining the songs and the group. TMF can continue to play and sing the songs. Same think happen to Lake Side. The split and both groups sing the songs. But the songs belong to the artist.

There’s nothing confusing about it. Frankie Beverly owns the songs, but TMF has the legal right to perform the songs anywhere, anytime. That goes for anyone who wishes to perform songs no matter who the artist is. That’s why there are Tribute Bands and Wedding Bands, and Cover Bands, Jam Bands Etc. That’s it… not complicated at all. I put my inspiration close on. I grabbed my black beauty which is my good time. And I turn on Maze Free to frankly Beverly and this music from the organization. The truth is, some elements of a band are irreplaceable and others are not. With the exception of Roame, none of the members of TMF were anywhere in the picture when MAZE featuring Frankie Beverly became an established band with a catalog of hits. MAZE was already a phenomenon long, long before the current players in TMF became members, and had NOTHING to do with CREATING this catalog or its recording, so these claims of carrying the same “DNA” are not holding up in my opinion. Without Frankie, with all do respect to Roame, it’s not MAZE, but essentially a tribute band, let’s just keep it real and enjoy the music.

Correction, musical DNA is far more than what you think it is. It has everything to do with the musicians hearts and souls that reshaped the music of Maze over a twenty year period. All you need to do is open you ears and listen to a track from the original band versus a live video of the band from the last twenty years... Completely different approach. So its an insult to our intelligence and our contribution to the legacy of Maze for you to dismiss us out of hand as nothing but a tribute band???... That's exactly what Frankie's management did to us and that's was why I said what I did!!!
If any artist is so great by themselves, then let them stand on the stage and entertain without their band... No tracks recorded by a band, NO MUSIC at all. Let's see how long audiences would line up to pay for that!
