Huawei Mate 60 Pro: Game over for US chip sanctions?!

  • Washington is in a panic after tech giant #huawei released a phone that appears to show China has got around the US’ aggressive attempts to stymie Chinese technological progress with the new Mate 60 Pro.
    The Washington Post, usually a pretty good barometer of the sentiment on Capitol Hill, opined: “New phone sparks worry China has found a way around U.S. tech limits,” which one analyst described as a slap in the face to Washington.
    Much deserved, I say!
    Today I will break the situation down in layman’s terms, and we’ll also catch up with US geopolitical analyst Thomas Pauken the Second. This is Reports on China, I’m Andy Boreham in Shanghai. Let’s get reporting!

They would say things like China is a competitor lol and in the hindsight, they themselves are not competing, but actually trying to suppress China's growth. Instead of rise up and become better than another country or trying to do better, they suppress them because they know they can't compete with 1.4 billions people. It's stupid! I knew back then when they banned Huawei, I knew it wasn't because of national security...it's a phrase they often use to justify the ban but they use it to suppress China's growth. It proves sanction never work. It didn't work in Russia, didn't work with International Space Station (I considered this as a sort sanction as well) and look where China is now in space technology. It didn't work with Huawei phone today and it certainly would not work with other PC chips and graphics cards which will eventually debut in the future. It's just a matter of time. In the end, all these fearmonger and tension only hurt the consumers of both countries and people all over the world. Instead of making people's life better, US chose to play politics and power dominant. US need to come to realization that a single unipolar world does not work anymore in today's world. Why? Because people in today's world know US is abusing its power being the holder of the reserve currency. It works back in the 80s 90s because US was the good guy, the savior of the world's problems. But today, US has turn upside down....it no longer practice free market, it longer keep check and balance of printing of money and it no longer care about any country except themselves. It abused the printing of money and piling constant annual debt and causing inflation world wide. This is why BRICS is expanding.

But China will give the excuse the companies don’t abide by Chinese law. Well than than something is wrong with Chinese Law. Because a majority of the world uses those apps including they’re Brics Allies. China is looking a lot like North Korea in that aspect. It seems like China really just doesn’t want to compete with international products. While at the same time not giving its people a lot of freedoms. And you expect countries not to sanction China after stealing trillions in intellectual property. I think the sanctions were fair. China was stealing/ copying other countries Companies Intellectual Property. All the while the other companies are spending billions on research and development. And Chinese companies didn’t have to spend any of that because they just copy other companies IP. Not only did they steal other countries companies IP. Chinese companies undercut they’re prices after not having to spend anything on research and development. I think the sanctions were fair, he said it in the video. So I think it’s fair that the international market booted China out of semiconductor partnerships. Because China was not being a good partner.

      By a combination of incomparable, world class idiocy and arrogance, the US has created a magic lens. Viewed through this magic lens, the biggest customer beomes the biggest competitor. Look again, the biggest competitor becomes the biggest threat. Look again, and the biggest threat becomes the biggest enemy, which must be destroyed.

The US social and political structure is nearly fully neoliberalized. Science R and D is for private benefit (although often publicly funded). The GOP one of the ruling authoritarian parties here in the US is largely anti-science its co-dictatorship party the Democratic Party fakes opposition but we know the US authoritarian dictatorship is based on a “two” party system which is basically one big party for the authoritarian rulers of the US.

    Great news and bravo to Huawei! A 'thunder' slap in the face of US hegemon and bully! Let's be blunt, looking back be it nuclear bomb, space exploration, high end weaponry , 5G to name a few where successive sanctions and non cooperation have all failed miserably as China had independently developed them hence saving billions of foreign exchange! Thank you uncle sam!

    This is what things will look like going forward. China becomes self sufficient in high end chips, as well as GPU. US, Taiwan and Samsung semi conductor companies find it hard to sell to Chinese market, they have less revenue hence less money to put into R&D, finding it hard to innovate. China's semi conductor companies take over the huge domestic market completely, and start to sell internationally. Their revenue grow rapidly, thus putting more and more into R&D. The barrier put up by the US are broken down one by one. Over time, Chinese companies overtake US, Taiwan and Samsung companies. China becomes the dominant player in semi conductor, while US, Taiwan and Korea dwindle.

    I just like to add this. Because of the sanctions, Huawei's business and profit went down significantly for a couple of years. To make breakthrus you not only need determination of management in financing the R&D but also right quality of engineers. It is amazing we do not hear exodus of staff / engineers which one would expect to leave a sinking ship.
    This story tells me Huawei management has the ability to keep the staff and the engineers have confidence in the company.

It was all great with India and China but it was China which always supports terrorism and protects hijackers and terrorists from Pakistan and then killed our soldiers at the border. Stamping on passport, Map manipulations with too much trade deficit. Onus on China to fix those issues for best relationships. I will support my country against country that directly or indirectly support terrorists ( how do Chinese feel if their trains, busses and placed are bombed and US protects those terrorists by using UN vote). However no one in India doubts the technological power of China. Most I know are in awe and respect China on that score.

You either roll over and die, or you struggle hard, very hard and do the best that you have ever done, and hope that you will overcome obstacles/barriers placed before you. It appeared that Huawei has overcome some major barriers before them and will continue to overcome barriers that lies ahead.

    Bombs after bombs left by US. This tells the tyranny of US. I'm sure Laos didn't use any bombs at all.

    • @raymondtay9442
      @raymondtay9442 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The U.S. dropped more than 2 million tons of bombs on Laos from 1964 to 1973 during the Vietnam War. That’s equal to a planeload every 8 minutes for 9 years. Many of the unexploded bombs continue to kill, or maimed the Laotian people to this day. For all the talk about human rights (talk is cheap), why hasn't the US provide financial, manpower expertise and other resources to locate and destroy the UXO? After all it the US which dropped the bombs and they have a responsibility to eradicate them as Laos did not declare war on the US, but was unfortunate in being caught in the war between the US and the Vietnamese. The Americans have a clever phrase for not taking responsibility which is called "collateral damage".

    Minor detail: 7nm is a measure of transistor density on the chip, thus smaller nm chips can pack more transistors into the same size chip, or the same number of transistors into a smaller chip.

    • @bobsmith3983
      @bobsmith3983 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      7nm is actually the minimum feature size. i.e. the minimum trace or pad width. And yes the smaller the feature size does allow more solid state devices to be fabricated on a wafer. Three main reasons for going small features sizes is 1. The chips can run faster, 2. The chips consume less power. 3. The smaller sized chips allows more of them to be fabricated on a single wafer of silicon.
