If your aircraft denies to follow an order, try ordering them to cease fire and then give them new orders, I found out this to be a much better option than getting irritated by aircraft not following order. Also, launch the aircraft in formation but disband the formation after you detect enemy aircraft, this makes managing each aircraft much easy and also they perform better. Nice content ! KEEP UP !!
It seems that the Soviets have managed to intercept a BIG shipment of carrots headed for the UK lol, because seeing ships at 200 miles out is not something human eyes do
In Soviet Russia, eyesight not hindered by Horizon.
MIG 23's had an IRST system which is why they are getting visual tracks from 70nm away.
@@bigpoppa1234 Well apparently the Soviet Mk1 eyeball significantly outperforms IRST systems. Maybe they're Tolkien Elves.
@@epikmanthe3rd they're equipped with the fabled Mk2 eyeball!
I hear carrots are good for your eyes.
The reason those MIGs were getting visuals are because of the TP-26 IRST system. They can find targets as far as 100nm out. The F14 has a similar system.
Yeah it's called the awg/9 for f14.
@@furious_wrath7079 AWG-9 is the radar, F14 had an IRST
@HK-er7wf only the D model had an IRST as standard. some older models could be upgraded as a retrofit. The D model also had AN/APG-71 radars. A and B models had the AN/AWG-9 and could not be upgraded.
@andrewl9169 The A model had it under the chin until it was removed for TCS
Aviation assets need more autonomy. Can't expect fleet commander to order pilot to use flares. GGs
I recall seeing both the AI do this when attacked in other videos, so I'm not sure exactly what is going on. The nature of early access, I suppose.
They do use Chaff, but right now the trigger for the AI is proximity-based
I have to say that they're doing well with bug fixes and small changes like correcting spelling mistakes. 4 days and 3 patches so far, it looks like they are really keen on responding to feedback.
Haven instead of Having.
@@jwrockets You might want to elaborate or add context, your post makes no sense
33:50 bro was like: i wanna do it my way so stop controlling everything and trust the process 😅😅
Maybe they need to give the AI the concept of doctrine -- if you launch a AWACS, escorts it -- but then they need to introduce the concept of missions like escorting.
The frustrating thing is I remember Harpoon having these things. I didn't have to order aircraft to drop sonobuoys, I didn't have to order each aircraft to attack, I could tell a DD to be ASW in the formation and it would launch choppers to hunt subs, etc.
Having played the updated Harpoon Classic for decades this is the main reason I haven't bought Sea Power. I like the visuals, but I don't play strategy games for visuals. The lack of a proper formation UI that includes being able to put up air patrols, the lack of an interception menu, no group based weapons menu, the inability to set a patrol area for asw planes, there's a lot of things lacking.
I am inclined to give the devs a break because if Harpoon did it then Im absolutely sure they can do it too with modern hardware. The team is very small. I look at this like a VERY long term project.
Yea an "Escort" order is much needed
Some of the Functions you mentioned can already be accomplished by the player mucking with Formations and such, i recently sent up an AEW&C Craft with two Fighters on Weapons free, and bam, Escorted AEW Patrol. When it comes to the other stuff, i assume it's in the works- You can assign "Roles" to Craft like "ASW Patrol" and the like, they just don't do anything right now
You should use the load out that uses the IR guided version of the AA7 less range but stops them getting stuck in guiding a dead missile
judging from the position and direction those Eagles came from I'd be willing to bet they came from RAF Lakenheath which is where my dad was stationed once upon a time before I was born
Wouldn't they be Mudhens? replacing F-111? Depending on what year it is, Air Superiority Eagles would have been at Bitburg and Soesterberg, Holland?
Thanks for putting out great content as always. Hopefully the devs are able to get air craft to evade missles more and not just fly right into missles. I became a youtube member . Thanks for putting out early content
Man, there are other channels that upload game content and associated videos but I literally could care less. Your commentary and overall quality of content is top notch and you sincerely are setting the bar impressively high. Love the videos, and I hope you’re doing well. Thank you!!!
I appreciate that!
Bro the AI are genuinely frustrating sometimes, both friendly and enemy😂
Absolutely
Your Airbourne birds off the carrier look like US S3 Vikings with a dome!!
31:18: Seeing how sluggish some of the fighters in this game are, I think they're programmed as just "flying submarines." I realize this isn't Ace Combat, but at those speeds, pretty much any fighter would've been able to pull into the vertical and launch.
Note that 800-900 knots is like Mach 1.2-1.4, which... I'm not familiar with the exact performances at various altitudes of the aircraft in question (I know an F-15 can manage Mach 2.4 or so at altitude but idk _what_ altitude) but that doesn't exactly seem slow
Nice to watch a competent player. Would be great to see you coach GN as they are comically fumbling with this game, and bringing them up to speed would make the sea power content more enjoyable
Comrade Orlan has the *really good* binoculars.
Hey Stealth, I'm just getting started on your mission collection and they're all so good! A quick request for another kind of tutorial, the CAMERA. I know it might seem simple to lots, but for new players to this kind of game getting my head around all the different modes and how to control them is tricky! Thanks again!
The pilot does have pretty good eye sight if they can see ships 370km away. It looked like it was quite cloudy as well.

Cinema.
Absolute~ Cinema.
It should be called Operation Cerberus 2.0. As a side note, not sinking 830 ft, nuclear-powered battlecruiser at your doorstep where average depth is around 200 ft. would probably be much appreciated. One SS Richard Montgomery is already a headache.
Hopefully they won’t be fighting near the nore sandbank in the Thames estuary.
aircraft carrier shooting missiles? well, now you know why soviets (and russians) didnt have an aircraft carrier but "heavy aircraft carrying cruiser" :D
I love this game but they really need to work on the ai. I'd get way too frustrated watching a aircraft just do absolutely nothing while a enemy is right in front of it.
Yeah it's frustrating to work with. I take it as growing pains of an early access title
This has great potential. Fix the subs - telephatic communication under water (this is a big one), aircrafts and add some nicer effects etc.
I was refering to contact detection. If one sub encounters contact under water, the others in pack can't magicaly know this also.
What a fun scenario!
I did my best
@@still_guns Should gave the AWACS some protection?
Game really needs some UK units. So much of the Cold war action is around the GIUK gap it feels unfinished not to have UK units
Look forward to Nimrods, Shackletons, Gannets, Buccaneers, Sea Vixens and Sea Harriers.
Its got some british units but not mamy
This game definitely has way too much micro managing for me. I enjoyed Cold Waters since there was just one sub you were controlling, looking after the whole fleet is a bit too much :)
Can be fun watching others struggle with it tho.
I also noticed aircraft spotting is 100% busted - had a helo at 200 feet 'spotting' ships 20-30 nm away when at that height the horizon would something in the range of 12 miles even at 35,000 feet sure the horizon is something like 200 miles but without optics you aren't going to see much but specs - hopefully they patch some of the spotting issues soon as I am sure the AI is also getting the benefits
Your aircraft won't attack if ordered weapons tight remember.
Great episode.
AI could definitely use quite a bit more time in the oven
The idea that the Russians designed a carrier with a VLS that launches shipwrecks from it is wild. Not that I think they would have been able to actually pull that off, but still, some real vodka infused ship designing right there.
they actually did their current carrier has 12 P700 Launchers
@@outrider425 Again, Russian naval design is nuts.
This was also a design the Russians have had. Just never built.
Found going weapons free in dogfights then herding them into attacking the targets you want seems to work best
It's an aircraft cruiser because it can leave black sea
Battleship Montana | Sea Power: Naval Combat In The Missile Age
How could the soviets be short of fuel !?
The Russians never had a carrier like this one though. That's the Admiral Kuznetsov but in her original name when built by Ukraine.
Notably, she always has had a ski jump ramp at the bow, or, if not her, it's a concept class that was never built called the Orel, but this one is named for the Tbilisi, so it shouldn't be her.
Either way, she's carrying concept only aircraft as well, so why not?
Orel is also in game. The Soviet carrier plans, Project 1152 and 1160, both called Orel were to be a class of two. No idea what the name for the other ship was if it was ever decided, but yea this is the second ship of the class. Kuznetsov is not in game, although I would prefer it over the Orel since it actually exists even if later than the period the game focuses on. Although, the better solution would just to include both (and other projects) but oh well. It was added mainly for balancing, so unlikely they will add any other Soviet carrier.
Seems to be a challenging (& thought-provoking) scenario of attack options to clear your Channel dash Stealth!
At about 20 Mins. in you faced a dilemma about a (carrier) deck attack Vs. ASM strike. Could both work?
(Time on Target Strike)
So for example, the moment a Vampire is detected, standard practice (Human & AI) is to go loud w/ radar emitions (to offer the best chance of an air intercept right?), could you set up your SEAD strike (ENCOM) to be in position while launching a more limited ASM strike to effectively "wild weasel" the enemy fleets air defense???
Perhaps this could be a potentially interesting tactic to test out in a future vid to stretch your big hitting ASM's just a little further (for these Massive Scenario missions).
Just an idea... Anyways Happy Hunting!
(As w/ everyone, excited for the British assets (& hopeful bug-fixs) to really evolve this game to its full potential as something special in the realm of Naval Combat!)
Soviet tailgunners seem to be more reliable than soviet fighters
Comrade! Why did you shot down the E3 sentry ... he was trying to defect!
They're yelling "sonobuoy deployed" in Russian as if they're reporting a missile homing in on then. Very disorienting.
Watch out for Japanese torpedo boats
Im not sure if this is a new UI bug in latest patch: if sensor on the ship is on, and you click EMCOM, EMCOM is activated but radar is still„checked” so if you want to activate that sensor again you basically need to uncheck it… For planes, EMCOM properly clears all check marks
Yeah it's an annoying bug. It's been around for a while
@ oh ok, i thought it was added in recent patch.
Yeah Ive also had SAMs dissapear from the Tac screen. I suspect it has something to do with the engine being overwhelmed because more often than not that not that happens when im greeted by 25 SS-19s.
That's ridiculous. I hate to keep harping on it, but Harpoon just slowed down when the scenario got too big for your PC.
Hell of a greeting
Smart Ai seems to be lacking, also not as much land elements played a part as i thought.
I have the same problem with disapppearing weapons on map - strangely, not all disappear (example, on Hormuz, all SM-1 and SM-2s would not show, but Harpoons will)
they're called missiles, not hitiles, so fire two
First thing off the deck should have been AWACS.
Orla 1 went to spec savers
I'm begging the content creators do read the aircraft's status when they aren't doing what you want.
What specifically are you referring to?
@Stealth17Gaming the reason your fighters weren't firing another missile at the F-15s was because they were still guiding the Fox-1 missiles.
Sadly I’ll hold of buying this until it’s ironed out
It's early access
Das Vadania oneard for the motherland .
Fuel shortages? invasion of Europe? did a fuel refinery get blown up in Azerbaijan by chance?
I have waited long since fleet command for something better.
But this is not it yet. Glad I did not fall for all the advertising and buy it at this state. Hopefully you youtube guys can keep the interest up until the air wing handling is not horrible...
Fuel shortages in USSR is not realistic…
Refineries are delicate. Pipelines are delicate.
Ya know when you see a Sentry without escorts, you have to question whether the scenario is worth playing.
I thought they're gonna remove the fictitious Soviet carrier aircraft once the game is released
Why would they make such an awesome model and then remove it?
@@vermas4654 All of these fictitious aircraft use existing models with a different texture
MiG-23 is just a reskin, P-42 is a reskinned S-3 Viking and Ko-45 is a reskinned S-3 Viking with different engine placement and modified tail
@@sabro5752maybe they should create a new one then
I am troubled by the lack of reaction of the French navy 🤔
There currently isn't one, except for a single diesel-electric sub.
@@still_guns that explains a lot ! hope they'll put at least some DDGs or the other submarine types. thx :D
i want to get this however I have wondered if I should wait till they sort out the AI. Any thoughts?
How do you drop the buoys like that, I have to place them one by one.
I recently learned you click CTRL+ALT and then drop and it will drop a whole grid. Don't think I used that this video though. I just played them manually.
dude i've been trying to figure this out for days hahaha
NATO knows Soviet tactics so there would be plenty of f15s. Maybe the dev took into account that Russian radar wasn't always reliable. Lol only 10 devs working on it so be patient we need more people to buy this game to get them more money to work on game
Ik detecteer een Netherlands accent in je Engels 🤔.
Landgenoot 💪Dutch🇳🇱 ?
Russian planes are not exactly known for fuel economy... :D
What is the difference in "above" and "below" the layer when sonar is activated.
Other people correct me if I'm wrong, but if I remember correctly the layer is a level of differing temperature in the water column which sound waves can bounce off of. This has interesting effects on sonar, presumably both active and passive, but tl;dr, below the layer = sneakier to sonars above the layer such as sonobuoys or ship-based radars (but not undetectable) and above the layer = less sneaky to sonars above the layer.
Having in person seen a Soviet carrier transit the English Channel in the past this is not a realistic scenario as there is no large cloud of thick black smoke streaming from the carriers boilers and there are no tugs accompanying it in case it breaks down 😂
A military that wasn't as perennially underfunded as the current Russian Navy might actually be able to look after its carriers, who knows...
This is a fictional carrier with fictional planes, give it a pass.
This aint the kutnetzow, its the semi fictional soviet nuclear carrier that was never built
In the initial briefing message the second sentence phrase "Haven taken much of Europe" is incorrect English.
Haven means a place of safety or somewhere you are protected. The appropriate word here is having, so it should read "Having taken much of Europe".
Yeah sorry, I borked it up a bit.
She dash thru my channel till' i VAMPIRE VAMPIRE VAMPIRE
The NATO guys barely fired ANYTHING at you. The F15's had to know you were there due to radar and AWACS, but did nothing to attack or defend.
The fleet also WTF? They would have known the SS 19s were inbound due to AWACS and possibly also due to their Sprites, but still came on FDH until your missiles arrived.
Disappointing. I really want to like this game, but as is, it feels both fun and trash.
When did the devs say theyre going to add a save feature? Thats like the one thing keeping me from playing the hell outa this game
AI is stupid as usual.
How come there are no british ships in the scenario?
Because there are only 3 (old) British ships in the game
Likely already sunk or are patrolling the Gap between Scotland And Iceland.
As Stealth said. When UK ships are introduced, rest assured I will replace most of the US assets with UK ones.
It really needs UK units adding to the game. Without them the GIUK missions feel incomplete.
@still_guns when are they going to be added and what ships will they be?
MIG-23s on a Russian carrier? Actual AEW aircraft? What kind of fanciful crap is this?
They should not add this fictional soviet carriers\planes in game. I wanna death star in game then.
It's to add some balance since the USA has four different carrier classes available to them.
Don't add them to your mission?
Balance? Then make realistic scenarios. The Soviets, outside their subs, were not an ocean-spanning navy. The scenarios should be US strikes against land installations, dealing with airbases, SAMs, land-based ECM, etc. not fantasies of a Soviet carrier group being dumb enough to transit the English Channel during a shooting war.
@@TheLastPhoen1xit's his mission he can add whatever he wants it to and you can choose not to play it. Who are you to tell a grown man what he does and doesn't do on his computer
Most (although not all) of the planes are either real or slightly fictional variants of real. The carrier is a real design that was planned to be built in the 1970s but was cancelled - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_1153_Orel . The carriers that the Soviets actually built (i.e the Kiev class) were about as capable at carrier-ing as an American Tarawa-class LHA (i.e helicopters and short-range VTOL multirole fighters).
Wait why are all the Soviet units bogus and made up??
Is this an alternate history kind of game?
The game does need something to make things somewhat balanced.
The ships (including the Soviet carrier) are all at least somewhat real. The _Orel_ class CVNs were designed in the 1970s, but the Soviets couldn't actually scrape together the cash to build the things. It was a real design, it just never left the drawing board. Most of the air wing is either fictional to fill roles the Soviets never got around to (Ko-45) or based on real designs (MiG-23K). The rest of the battlegroup existed, though.
Because the game needs to be balanced what fun is a game if one side holds all of the power. Even games like squads managed to balance out the insurgent side of the game
@@PhoenixT70 I believe most or all of the airwing designs were actually designed IRL for the Orel-class or the later Kuznetsov (Russia's current carrier) and Ulyanovsk classes, but never actually built.
