Because KC and the Sunshine Band are Disco/Funk not rock roll: Disco/Funk never became popular enough or reached the same amount of international popularity as rock did for it to have its own Hal log fame. Disco died pretty early, came in 1978 and died 1979.

I miss this, ABBA, all the other rock bands from the Seventies and my nineteen year old son likes music from the 1960s through 1990s.
I actually met KC. He was best the best friend of of my best friend's mother and her boyfriend. I also attended his birthday party at his house and also hung out at his house with my best friend. It was quite amazing.
I went to a racially divided high school outside of Philly and we had house parties where we ALL partied together. Good times in 74, 75 and 76. The athletes and cheerleaders were mixed and we had great beer parties. Miss Darby - Colwyn High.
Harry Wayne Casey and the Sunshine Band were off the Charts, they really really rocked my world back in the disco era there was no discoteque in the world that didn't play KC's songs and we Danced them All..🕺🕺
I am 56 years old and immediately fell in love with Disco when it first came out in 1972. Today's music sounds outdated compared with that time period and it supposed to be the other way around.
There may be more complex and relevant forms of music, but DISCO is pure joy. Its job is to make your body move, put a smile on your face and warm your soul. What could be more relevant??
All the groups back then was the same outfits has really nice The Delfonics Kool & the Gang Teddy Pendergrass all those old groups fabulous music maybe we would be all depressed right now if we had groups like that now we just have TH-cam thank God for that God bless everybody

What I miss about the old music vs what we have now: 1. Actual musicians who could play instruments; 2. The full sound of multiple instruments; 3. The joy of performing (so many singers and bands today seem "programmed" and lifeless). At the time, KC and the Sunshine Band's music was widely considered to be dreck. But it's aged very well and outlasted its critics.
That kind of lazy, out of touch statement is all over the comments sections of TH-cam, You just aren't looking in the right places. The standards of musicianship have never been higher. As an older musician myself, some of the young players scare the c**p out of me.
What’s being said quite justifiably is that the level of musicianship for similar types of musics is way down, because it’s being done with computers largely by non-musicians who don’t know how to construct full musical thoughts. Nothing to do with actual musicians today, a separate category that may or may not be any better than back in the day.

Yes!!! I've loved this song since I was a little girl in the 70s but hadn't seen the video til today. I love the vibe of black and white people hanging out and having fun and the realization that there is NO color, there is just human beings having a great time, making music and enjoying life together. How beautiful is that? And how amazing to think that racism was actually BETTER then than it is now. It's sad. But this is joyful and beautiful and I wish so much that people could learn from this and love one another.
KC and his band are legends. Saw them open for the b-52s in 2022, and I feel so lucky to have witnessed their magic on stage. Even though I was born in 91, I felt the funk energy from the 70s and disco vibes from the 80s. KC danced the entire time. We were blown away! Good times!!!

That brass section shows so much joy playing their instruments, its perfect. Pretty much somes up the entire band, even down to Casey's little dance. Today's music just cant even compete with this.

Disco techs were plenty of them around, KC and sunshine band were always on the list to play ,the dance floors were lit up and can dance on them , and other places have the mirror ball ,i guess they called a disco ball .
All these masterpieces that stood the test of time clearly show us how bad we are today. They were pure joy that decontaminate us today from so much negative vibe.

That kind of lazy, out of touch statement is all over the comments sections of TH-cam, You just aren't looking in the right places. The standards of musicianship have never been higher. As an older musician myself, some of the young players scare the c**p out of me.
What’s being said quite justifiably is that the level of musicianship for similar types of musics is way down, because it’s being done with computers largely by non-musicians who don’t know how to construct full musical thoughts. Nothing to do with actual musicians today, a separate category that may or may not be any better than back in the day.
@@hardcorehouse Computer music is NOT better than back in the day. Computers have no soul. They don't use dynamics or tempo variation. All the human characteristics that make music soulful are lacking in computer generated music.

Yes!!! I've loved this song since I was a little girl in the 70s but hadn't seen the video til today. I love the vibe of black and white people hanging out and having fun and the realization that there is NO color, there is just human beings having a great time, making music and enjoying life together. How beautiful is that? And how amazing to think that racism was actually BETTER then than it is now. It's sad. But this is joyful and beautiful and I wish so much that people could learn from this and love one another.

KC and his band are legends. Saw them open for the b-52s in 2022, and I feel so lucky to have witnessed their magic on stage. Even though I was born in 91, I felt the funk energy from the 70s and disco vibes from the 80s. KC danced the entire time. We were blown away! Good times!!!

That brass section shows so much joy playing their instruments, its perfect. Pretty much somes up the entire band, even down to Casey's little dance. Today's music just cant even compete with this.

Disco techs were plenty of them around, KC and sunshine band were always on the list to play ,the dance floors were lit up and can dance on them , and other places have the mirror ball ,i guess they called a disco ball .
All these masterpieces that stood the test of time clearly show us how bad we are today. They were pure joy that decontaminate us today from so much negative vibe.
