- I will show you how to fix the L3/sprint problem with your PS4 controller. Also an FYI at the very end of the video the reason I'm having such a problem reconnecting the light bar ribbon cable is the battery is basically dead as I haven't used that controller in months and it was dead lol. Actually L3 is the most clicked button on the controller due to it being the run button in most games

I'm gonna add something. Be careful when you put the ribbon wire back in because if it's not done carefully there's a chance that the little contacts will break off. Was repairing a controller and had that happen to me.

no, but the charging is. you might have to buy a new charger that plugs in from the bottom of the cintroller, happend to me
Eggthan324 if it’s only a bit of the gold contacts at the end of the ribbon you can cut straight across the ribbons contacts with scissors to make a new edge and then plug it back in. Worked for me 👍🏼

Antoine Williams my Controller is like when i push the L3 stick forward it most of the time not working properly. it like walking sideways very slowly, is it the same thing that it doesn't have enough lubricant?
Thank you so much, for over a week now my L3 on my controller hasn't been functioning properly, when I try to sprint it would always cancel out. I watched someones video before about taking apart the controller and pushing in the green block which could be lose on the analogue stick, that didn't fix it. As soon as I found your video and tried the WD-40, I squirted 2 times into each analogue stick, even though the left one was the problem, I wanted to make sure both were functioning properly. I left it for about 1 hour and 5 minutes, came back reassembled my PS4 controller and it worked great!!! Thank you so much and highly recommend your tutorial/ fix.
Did you removed your battery before you squirted?

Well, everything was going ok right up until I sprayed the first squirt of WD-40. That shit ricocheted directly into my eye like Luke f#cking Skywalker. Needless to say, the problem is fixed but I am now blind.

A week after trying this, I must say that my controller works perfectly. If you can't sprint with your L3, this is a "must try" option. So happy to have found this video :)

I have taken my controller apart probably 7-10 times and cleaned it, blew in it, tried majic voodoo and all I needed was fricken WD-40.

Cheers bro, I've gotten the hugest blister on my thumb for being overly aggressive with the pushing down and moving forward. Nice, understandable instructions gave great confidence to the entire process. Cheers again. PS haven't used the controller yet but I'm sure it'll work

I'm going to confirm this. This definitely works. Resetting your controller doesn't do shxt if anyone was wondering. I tried on 2 controllers. The stutter still happened. W-D40 my dudes. Fixes everything 😂😂

I have now fixed my l2, and l3 / r3 and r2 buttons, and this video has been the most useful and helpful. Small details such as the pressure points are not usually mentioned in other videos when opening them up for repairs. Bravo sir, I did all of the steps with no problems, and can say with full confidence that it did in fact work

Only have this issue on COD nothing else lol. But had another issue of the controllers joy sticks being slightly forward causing you to rotate without touching the controller not sure if this will fix but lets find out

My man is a legend! Just fixed my controller. Only thing I would say is update it for more recent controllers. I have a wave blue and the spring was different, took me a while to figure out how to put that on. Other than that, Great

This is exactly what fixed my controller after trying so many things. Controller’s been working for months since I’ve done this. Awesome video and a literal controller saver
The first time taking one of my extra controllers apart and I was pretty nervous about bricking it. After doing it on that one, feeling like I destroyed it during the process but it actually worked, I’m trying it on my main controller and have much more confidence now. I’m waiting for it to dry but, just saying don’t worry about messing your controller up, it’s easier than you think, just don’t rip any cables and you’ll be fine. Not too much pressure is needed to release the cables and I’ll def be modding my future ps4 and ps5 controllers (when I finally get one). Good luck everybody! *edit I used dielectric grease and contact cleaner just in case. I also have compressed air but won’t use it for now.

really helpful. my battery was slightly different as it stays connected with wiring so i had to be careful when turning the open pad over.
I can confirm this works. My L3 works much better now. Just a little tip when reassembling the controller, put the L2 and R2 on the motherboard first (the slot that has spring) before assembling the bottom cover. I've left my L2 and R2 button on the bottom cover, and when i try to put it together, i almost break the L2 and R2 spring.

Last time I used which is about half year ago, it still worked. But since the L2 & R2 broke, I switched to other controller.

@@Eminentend I sprayed it on the crevices, flip it down then let it drip for few minutes. Hopefully the dust and other particles will also drips along with the oil.
About olive oil, I don't know if it will work or even if it is safe to use on electronics devices.

I'll be having a tutorial on my channel to brighten the light bar on your ps4 controllers soon. Just a heads up, you'll need: 3 tennis balls, a 10 lb. pry bar (which has to be a 45 degree angled pry bar), an old dirty sock, a large spoon, a small fork, a bicycle spoke (makes the process less painful), 12 (yes 12) fish scales, and last but certainly not least, an empty 5 gallon water container. Should be fun. :).

Works great. Just be cautious not to pull the ribbon off from the wrong side. Pull ribbon from the side with the battery and NOT the front piece. It did that and had to take additional parts off to get the ribbon back in.
There’s only 2 things a man needs in his life, duct tape and WD-40. Good stuff man got my controller all fixed up after going through so many controllers 🤣

Same issue here. Check out TforTurbo's video for the analog fix, you dont have ti take apart the controller and it seemed to have worked for me. Hope this helps, I know how frustrating it can be lol.

Johnny G after all this time after your post, have you had any issues ? I would like to try your method with dry lubricants since I feel wd40 is too harsh for my controller... I use that under tha hood nothing else..

i know this is pretty old video, but man, it work 1000% thanks. the trickiest part for me was open the case first time. definitely take your time. and my personal tip : i use gun oil instead of wd because wd left residues when is dry. gun oil last much longer. funy is the controller which was in the box with console never had this problem. just the other ones i buy later. thank you again u save my nerves ;-)

It does seem complicated and alot to do but it's really not. I was just really careful not to pop and lose the springs in the triggers. So overall it's actually easy. Thanks!
