I'd pay good money if you could rent these. I am not wealthy, but say $50 for an hour via a sateillite link you could have a long list of people using it. Maybe ideally if it starts in an interesting area and of course you can have it wired so if the user drives it to coral they get a warning, same deal with out of bounds. I don't mean using this awesome bit of kid. I am talking cheaper drones in clear water like Florida. Since I have no means of doing it myself I thought I'd put my idea out there.
I think a better model would be renting the small rov AND a pilot for it. You just get to tell the pilot where you want to go and what you want to look at it, while the professional actually pilots the thing. It's an interesting idea, and something that could certainly be done given modern technology. Wouldn't be cheap though. Even a small ROV is going to be quite expensive and anything that goes in the ocean requires a LOT of regular maintenance and upkeep.
