- Wings For Marie (TOOL) Guitar Cover - By 10 Yr Old Maya
This is my first TOOL guitar cover as a 10 Yr old! Wings For Marie's intro is probably one of the hardest I have ever practiced. The way it is played is very unique and I want to thank Adam Jones and Cesar Gueikian for teaching me how to play this. They made this song even more special for me and I will always remember that! I also tried to replicate the effects that Adam Jones uses in this song and it takes the experience to a whole new level.
I decided before itself that my first song that I will cover after turning 10 will be Wings For Marie & 10,000 Days! I don't look at these as 2 separate songs since they are both so beautifully created and it makes into 1 big epic song when put together! So at home when I am jamming, I always make it a point to play these 2 songs together. Today, I am playing Wings For Marie (pt 1) and next week I will release 10,000 Days (pt 2).
I know this song is very special for a lot of you, so I have put in an extra effort to make sure I play this beautiful song as good as I can. I hope you enjoy this and can travel musically with me.
Also thanks to @cameronvwinters and @axeofcreation Their guitar covers and tutorials are always very helpful.

Absolutely amazing!! Adam and the boys must be feeling honored
Thank you so much! 😊
That was the first song that got me into tool back in 2010 when I was 16 yrs old.
Great playing Maya! Spiral out, keep going!
This is no doubt a very beautiful song.
Wow, Maya, that was a great performance! I love the visual aspects of your video - the symbolism, imagery, your dress, and how it matches the guitar. And that's so cool that Adam himself helped you learn the song (and gave you a guitar as well). I'm looking forward to the next part. Keep it up!! ☺👍
Thank you so much! This is one of my favourite covers and definitely a special one too. I’m very happy you enjoyed this. Thank you. 😊
Sounds great, Maya! You played it all very well and the guitar effects you used sound really cool! That's so nice that Adam Jones and Cesar Gueikian helped you to learn the song. That's very special!
Thank you so much! Yeah, it is very special that they helped me with this song. I will always remember this song for that. 😊
🤟💯👍👍🎧🎸🎤🏆
😁🤟🤘🙏😊
Wow, Maya, this is so beautiful! 🤩
Thank you so much!! Hope you are doing well. ❤
Best Tool cover so far!!!!
Thank you so much! 😊
Beautiful Maya! Now I also want to hear the story about how AJ and Caesar ended up helping you with this song and what that experience was like (in addition to hearing about how you discovered Tool)!!’
😁 Haha.. I bet. I’m not sure how much I can talk about that since they were private conversations but for me personally them helping me made this song extra special! C’mon learning it directly from my biggest inspiration and guitar god is not something that happens easily. 🤯 It’s very very special. 😊
well done Maya!!! Looking forward to Part2! I loved the editing on this video as well! :)
Thank you! I'm glad you are looking forward to 10000 days. Me too. 😃 Me and my dad work on the video editing part and it's fun. 😊
Alright, very inspiring! I haven't seen you in awhile and you are becoming a young woman in front of my eyes! Thank you Maya.
Thank you for following my journey! 😊 My parents also tell me that they feel like I’m growing up very fast. 😁
@@MayaNeelakantan I remember when I was growing up. It seemed like it took forever to become an adult.
But as you get older it seems like time speeds up. Be wise and don't fall into the traps many others do. Don't become an 'adult'...become your true self. Hare Krishna
@@jameslanclos568 Thank you. My dad says the same thing too. I will try to be my true self always. Hare Krishna. 🙏
@@MayaNeelakantan Hare Krishna 📿🙏
@@MayaNeelakantan Yes, your father is wise and will always have your best interest at heart. Always love and respect your mother and father. 🙏
You rock Maya!!
Thank you! 😊
well played
Thank you. 😃
Amazing girl !!!
Thank you!
Amazing. I love how you recreated the phasing effects etc too. And I love your playing style, really cool
Thank you! I was very happy too that I found a way to do that. It’s so cool and I always loved that effect in the real song. 😀
Great job! Sounded awesome
Thank you so much! 😊
🎉🎉🎉
Thank you!
Ka pai. Sounds so good through headphones.
Yeah it really does. Glad you used the headphones. The effect pedal I used in this gives awesome stereo effect and it’s really cool through headphones. 😁
Sounds awesome. Well done.
Thank you! 😁
Awesome job Maya!
Thank you! 😊
Keep up the amazing work! 🤘
Thank you so much!! 😊 And thank you for covering these epic songs. They were so helpful when I was learning these. Your videos are my go-to always! 😁🤘
Parobola would be awesome
Yeah, I will cover that one day. It's on my list.
What's next another Exodus song???
Not yet. Next will be 10000 days ofcourse since it’s a sequel to this. There are a couple of songs on Exodus that I’m planning to learn soon. 😀
This is wonderful. I'd be disappointed if I didn't see someone covering one of your songs one day. Have you ever recorded anything you've written?
Thank you! You are very kind. I have not recorded anything I've written yet but I do create some small music sections at home. Been working on it now and then so I can practice some ideas. 😊
@@MayaNeelakantan How did you come to discover the music you enjoy and cover on your channel?
@@joshhrst I was introduced into metal by my dad. But for TOOL, it feels like the TOOL music found me, if that makes sense.
I have been listening to tool for decades. What I heard when I "listened" has changed over the years. Funny. I don't talk about tool much. We fans share a reputation with vegans. But it is nice to see someone musically gifted appreciate something I love and that means so much to me. I hope you're able to check out some Carl Jung when the time is right; similar vein. I'm listening to you play Wings 2 as I type this.
I have a feeling you're family is very interesting. Sorry for the loss by the way. Hope I hear from you soon. You're sharing something that people enjoy. @@MayaNeelakantan
@@joshhrst Sure I will check out Carl Jung. And thank you for your support and following my journey. 😊 I always enjoyed music but I feel TOOL music took it another level. I’m sure you will understand that. 😁
Did You and Jones practice it in person???
Haha… 😁 I wish.
What multi effects pedalboard are you using?
I am using Line 6 PodGo and the effects pedals I used are Spin cycle that is controlled with an expression pedal, reverb pedal and a delay pedal. 😊
@@MayaNeelakantan ah okay, I thought it was a line 6 but couldn’t see it well. I’m using an MX5 Headrush. Have you used the MX5? If so how does it compare with the PodGo?
@@reverendknox Actually my parents got me the PodGo as a surprise birthday gift when I turned 9 last year. My dad said he was going between PodGo and MX5 and in the end he decided to go with the PodGo. There are good things with MX5 too so any of them, you can’t go wrong.
@@MayaNeelakantan do you build your own IRs?
@@reverendknox no. I don’t build my IRs. I actually use the Ola Englund IR The One. But I also find some of the default cabinets are good enough too.
