I started watching with the ADT a few weeks ago and that AT buff you wear at night always looks like a voyageur's toque to me so the por-TAJ feels appropriate.
Hey, just wanted to say thanks for all the videos. I've been watching your stuff since you started key west. Enjoy all of them! May the wind be at your back, yall take care.
What a difference a day makes! From nasty headwinds and high waves to a glassy smooth paddle in one day. Good miles and GREAT campsite (complete with a turtle shell graveyard, but hey . . . ). Paddle on! Tortoise (feeling the pain from my spirit turtle cousins.)
I totally understand, not caring for the style of content but it is gratifying to hear somebody appreciates my sense of humor. Often peoples initial reaction is negative and I joke the religious people think it must be something weird and the weird people think it’s something religious…
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Funny as I'm typing this in the comment dropdown from the bell, your Minneapolis to St. Paul video is sitting in my recommendations, so I'm going to give it a watch. My wife and I cruise between Georgian Bay up in Canaderp and FL/The Bahamas full time on a Hatteras, so maybe what you do is more up my alley than I thought. Re: religious people and whathave you... I was stationed in Utah for a number of years and never before (or since) in my life have I been so discriminated against based on what I don't believe. Prior to being out there, I never gave a shit about anyones religion, but now? I fucking hate mormons. So yeah, whenever I see a dig at organized religion, it immediately gets my seal of approval. Also, subbed. :)
We have seen turtle egg shells as well. We checked with state biologist and... if you see shells on the ground then they have been dug up by predator. If turtles hatched the shells would still be buried.
Glad old man river let up enough for you two to relax and be a little goofey.Well earned, well deserved.I guess that's why the 🐢 lays so many eggs.Chances of finding way to surface, bypassing predators and achieving nirvana are slim.Im glad you both respect them and their ways.
Surprisingly it actually wasn’t too bad. We were around Clinton and saw far less party boats than we had the prior few days. We didn’t even have a line at the lock. Prairie du Chien was the crazy area
Hey awesome to see you paddle through my hometown! My family actually owns one of the house boats on that side channel you went through. Great video you inspired me to get out there myself!
So i was watching a YT Channel called Ratatrail, Final Episode (8) of his AZT hike, and there it was: a sign proclaiming it was 3 miles to Tater Canyon!! Happy Boating 🛶
What's the face covering she is wearing? The gators are fine, but so restrictive feeling. I like using them to a) block some sun, and b) prevent breathing in cottonwood seeds. This looks like it would be such an awesome trip. I plan on biking a very similar route down the river soon. Thanks!
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes rock on, thanks for that. Yeah, I haven't found the perfect covering just yet, and having a big noggin they aren't easy to come by.
Depends on the section. First part the bugs + mosquitos made it unappealing. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to swim from due to all the houses. And often we’re just in the moment paddling along and not wanting to take any sort of an extended break. It’s only just getting warm enough where that starts to have a real pull
Unlikely. The head didn't look right. Based on the coloration pattern, I'd guess it was an eastern foxsnake (Pantherophis vulpinus). The only venomous snakes native to Wisconsin are the eastern massasauga (Sistrurus catenatus) and the timber rattler (Crotalus horridus), neither of which like open water.
The best videos are when you’re together. You’re awesome Matt, but her giggles add so much. I love watching you.
It does bring a lot of joy to the drudgery

Yes Wisconsin! As a kid my family fished and swam in the area below lock 8. Thanks for the beautiful video.❤

That was great footage of the snake. It is disconcerting to see how fast they can move.

This was a random suggestion for me and while the content isn't really my thing, I just wanted to say that's the best fucking channel name ever.

You have been lucky with the locks the last few. Hope that continues for you. Thanks for a fun video!
I figure it’s karma paying us back for that lock 3 mess…
Picked up your vids as you came past my house south of St. Paul! Fun to watch!
I didn't see any recreational boats. I'm going with a perfect day.

Oh interesting! So that was a graveyard … thanks for the info!

Hilarious thumbnail, Matt. I reckon July Fourth Weekend recreational boat traffic was interesting for you.

Looks beautiful. I'd be a little concerned about the river traffic on the lower half of your voyage. Good luck. I'll be watching. 👍
We’re staying cautious but there are a number of folks who do this every year so we figure it’ll be manageable. One challenge at a time :)

Great day to paddle! Paddle On!
NOW THAT'S A DRAMATIC ARC
The tower running power lines over the river at 2:35 is one I climbed with a cast on my foot to... ummm... enjoy the view!

It’s just a sun mask I found on Amazon. We were looking for something looser that would hang down. These are ok but could still be a bit looser

Thanks for sharing the voyage!!! What brand of hoodies are you wearing?
Mine is a black Diamond. Jen’s is a town shirt
@@FirstChurchofTheMasochistHikes Thanks! Unfortunately price wise I cant spend $80-90 on a shirt. Wish I could!
I could watch 30 mins a day
Love
Isn't there any cost associated with the lock use? I know that it is several thousand to pass through the panama canal.
Nope. Free to anyone in a boat
Next video please explain why this is the first day for a swim. Is the water that awful?
Or is it the snakes?

laughing your way down the Mississippi

Hey Y'all ! A good day !
Are those snakes venomous?
No I think it was just a garter snake.
Unlikely. The head didn't look right. Based on the coloration pattern, I'd guess it was an eastern foxsnake (Pantherophis vulpinus). Im sure you know this but those big bird nests are bald eagle nests. Enjoy your videos
Yeah! It’s been really neat seeing so many of those
😎✌
Bill Brasky once wrestled a bear to death. Upon finding out the bear had cubs he proceeded to breast feed them until adolescence.
