Hi Jeanne hi, I finished The Penguin yesterday and it is a Masterpiece!! 😊. I feel like only HBO could do this, take a comic book character, villain and world and make it feel realistic and feel like a mob drama. It’s like The Sopranos or Power or something in the gangster genre. Just loved it, you are right about everything in your review. Everyone was great, that is for sure and everyone deserves a great deal of praise for their performances. Low key, big shout out to Carmen Ejogo who killed it as Eve. That twist at the end where she was performing as Oz’s mother was amazing. Really hope for a season 2 to be honest. The only thing I did not like as much, the only criticism I have was that when they showed Sophia in the asylum I just felt that was a bit comic book ish and did not fit with the rest of the show, in a very small way. But Jeanne loved loved loved the show and your video as always. Are you watching Dune Prophecy? Looking forward to your review of that show soon. The scene when Carmen was acting as Oz’s mother haunted me for daysssss! What a bizarro, twisted man! And as someone pointed out - Oz completely ignored his mother’s request for a dignified ending and left her to rot in his new palace (hence the tears in her eyes in the end)!!! Oh the suffering! I could write essays on this series honestly, which is a great sign, what a show! And I’m so glad you enjoyed it! Would you say Dune Prophesy is on that level?? I’m running out of time on 2024 releases that I can watch as I’m actually going on holiday next week (I’ll post an update on how that will affect my channel) so I have limited time to check these things out I’m afraid! 😔 Though of course if it’s really great, I’ll circle back early next year!

Oh I completely missed that reference where Oz’s mum wanted to die with dignity, but yes makes her tears at the end a lot clearer. Just finished watching it. It was great!! Victor’s death broke my heart. I agree that Sofia’s episode was incredible. The accent is an old New York / New Jersey accent. You don’t hear it much today but that’s how NY/NJ sounded 50+ years ago.
Yes, you posted just in time: I had some carrots to grate! Im so excited about this show, Im usually not a fan of mini-series built like a movie split into 10 x 60mn "chapters" but I have been sold on this one for sure! 🍿
Dont worry , Victor will be back soon and if he will not there will DEF be some consequences in some caliber . I think the actor that played Vic would make a GREat Miles Maeda and possibly be a awesome Spiderman
