  • Genesis 1-3
Today we will cover Genesis 1-3. But First, welcome to Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible - Day 1
    Genesis was written by Moses
1 of the 5 Books of the Torah or The Law
Part of the Pentateuch which means “Five Books”
Torah is divine revelation to the Jewish people - or God’s guidance for mankind.
Today will be broken up into 3 sections:
    Creation/Man and Woman/The Fall
    Creation
We see God as creator - He has always been
When God speaks, things happen. God spoke and all of creation was formed.
The Holy Spirit and Jesus (we’ll see this later in John 1:1) were with God when the earth was formless and empty and dark.
Genesis 1:2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
The Trinity has always been and will always be.
    The Account of Creation - Genesis 1:1 - 2:3
    1- Day and Night
    2- Heaven and Earth
    3- Seas and Land
    4- Sun, Moon, and Stars
5- Creatures of the Sky and Sea
6- Creatures of the Dry Land and Man
    7- God Rested
EVERYTHING God created was good. How do I know that? Because He said so!
Every time God created in Genesis 1, this is what we are told by the Holy Spirit through Moses “And God saw that it was good.”
God gave Adam dominion over the earth and instructed man to be fruitful and multiply.
God blessed the 7th day and declared it holy.
Genesis 2:2-3 On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.
Man and Woman in Eden Genesis 2:4
You were made in the image of God.
For this reason, the devil hates you.
Genesis 1:27 So God created human being in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
God formed man in Genesis 2:7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person.
    Then God made a garden
2 trees were planted: Tree of life // Tree of knowledge of good and evil
God warns Adam not to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil - that if he does, he will surley die.
The God formed a helper - because it’s not good for man to be alone!
Genesis 2:22 Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib, and he brought her to the man.
    The Fall
Genesis 3:1 The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
Eve had unbelief because her mind was changed.
Because of their sin, God cursed the earth and Adam and Eve were cast out of Eden.
    Sin brings shame
Genesis 2:25 Now the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame
Genesis 3:8-12 When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the man and his wife heard the Lord God walking about in the garden. So they hid from the Lord God among the trees. Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” He replied, “I heard you walking in the garden, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked.” “Who told you that you were naked?” the Lord God asked. “Have you eaten from the tree whose fruit I commanded you not to eat?” The man replied, “It was the woman you gave me who gave me the fruit, and I ate it.”
What stood out to me? The devil will try to get you to a place of unbelief. “Did God really say that?” If the devil can get you to a place of unbelief, he will win every time.
