Joshua 12-15 // Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible - Day 85
In the Bible, God’s covenant comes with land possession.
And we will see that today in Joshua 12-15
But first welcome to Experiencing God 365 Days Through the Bible - Day 85
In chapter 12 we hear about all of the kings defeated both east and west of the Jordan.
The Land east of the Jordan is the land conquered under Moses and the Land to the west, under Joshua.
Then in Chapter 13, God tells Joshua, hey, I know you are getting older, but there’s still more land you’ve not taken that is promised to you. And God tells Joshua that he will do the heavy lifting for Joshua.
13:6-7 “I myself will drive these people out of the land ahead of the Israelites. So be sure to give this land to Israel as a special possession, just as I have commanded you.7 Include all this territory as Israel’s possession when you divide this land among the nine tribes and the half-tribe of Manasseh.”
In chapter 13 we are reminded about the Land east of the Jordan, given to Ruben, Gad and ½ Manasseh.
Here we see again that God did not give land to the Levites .. instead He was their portion.
In chapter 14 we see the land starting to be distributed west of the Jordan. And Caleb shows back up and asks for his own special portion because he was with Joshua when they were spies the first time.
14:13 3 So Joshua blessed Caleb son of Jephunneh and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land
Now Caleb is part of the tribe of Judah .. and in chapter 15 we see land divided out for the tribe of Judah.
What stood out to you today?
If you read through this section of scripture there is very specific details about the dimensions of the land given out. That’s important historically. At first when I was reading I kind of rolled my eyes. But this matters to people, and if you know anything about what’s happening in the world in this area it still matters.
