Is the Oboist ... playing a clarinet at 8:00?????!!!!!! What manner of blasphemy is this??? What arranger would DO this to a musician of this caliber???? I am in shock and awe. Marvelous, marvelous job you guys - I would LOVE to play this arrangement... Yikes.
This is a great arrangement and a great performance - wouldn't have thought it possible to do "Rite" as a quintet, but there's a real clarity and spirit here.
Ok bassoonist, what principal chair are you sitting in now? You are all amazing and this performance is a thunderclap!!! Horn player, I've played this before (full score) and you ROCK!!! What guts to go bells up on that high A flat entrance. Bravo to all of you!
@crookedmelody1 A clarinet... He's using three. The large one is in A and the smallest is the Eb - known for it's shrill piercing sound, especially in the upper register. The Eb is used in many of Stravinsky's large orchestral compositions, including the Rite of Spring. Other big excerpts can be found in Ravel's Bolero, Strauss's Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, and the final movement of Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique."
Great performance! almost everything... I enjoyed it a lot (made me recall those days I played it) Double quintet would fill missing voices... If you need some extra flute, let me know, hahahahahahahahaha
Once you get to the Augurs of Spring section the quintet doesn't exactly cut it anymore, but the introduction sounds great. It's certainly a good performance, and an admirable attempt.

I did a little research and apparently Jack, the guy on the left, broke the world record for the fasted oboe player in the world. ._.
this arrangement is incredible. impressive performance too, nice work guys!

A great performance of the best piece I know to hear on the first full day of Spring 2015. Many thanks!

Note that when the clarinettist plays the E Flat, the oboe player switches to clarinet. Nice if you have a oboe player who can do that.
you guys are awesome!
This is cool! You all play fantastic. I did not think this would be this cool on wind quintet.

I am impressed by this arrangement.
Fine job. Good job of making this work with a quintet and playing without a conductor. BRAVO !!!!
@Jimbothenoob I was going to say this, but I'm impressed with how the introduction keeps a lot of its charm.
Sounds very good guys!

Help me! I would like to have the score too! Does anybody got it?
amazing! is there any way of getting hold of the arrangement?
Great performance! Certain parts lose something without the full orchestra but overall it's a fascinating view of the song.
Does this use bass or alto flute? I am thinking about using this for an ensemble competition, and know nothing of flutes
Haha, thanks Nate!
This may sound like a stupid question, but how are we supposed to contact him?? I don't know how to find people on TH-cam, lol.
@bassoonist7429 Albrecht Mayer is a student as well. He is completing a diploma at OBOE GOD UNIVERSITY!!!!!!!
Isn’t that opening supposed to be for oboe??? Why didn’t the oboist play it then??????
Jamey Strauss that opening was always supposed to be the bassoon, If you're talking about the first one
yes but how can I contact him?
How can we get in contact with him?
Marat is one sexy bassoonist!
@flutefreak8290 already have aha. got the free sample :)
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaavo !

This is pretty good but doesn't even come close to the Rite of Spring performance for solo oboe by Oboe GOD ALBRECHT MAYER!!!!!!
Exceptionally well done. Could have done with a lot less dancing from the clarinetist.
