Yes, sports can be exciting to grow, just like the true blooming hybrids! Appreciate your feedback!

I needed this! This has happened to me and I thought that vender sent wrong plants or leaves from what I ordered especially since the cost of plant and shipping . Did most of your sports happen on first bloom cycle? Wish all vendors would tell if a plant has bloomed true for them. Thanks. Again

Yes, the non-chimera varieties can produce sports at propagation, sports can be expected as a normal occurrence. Sometimes, when foliage doesn’t look different, the only way to tell that the plant has sported, is to wait for blooms. Chimeras can sport later on, blooms turning from chimera pattern into solid color. Finally, I did get sent wrong varieties on a few occasions, pretty sure those were not sports, “Ann” shown in this video next to the true Ann hybrid, being one of them. Just part of the hobby.

@grayturtleviolets another issue is sellers' pictures and descriptions are often not good. Especially photographs. Colors are not true. So it's hard to know if Colors have sported or not. But I have had a couple that I actually liked better than the picture or description. A nice surprise.

@@SS11660 It happens sometimes, I always do my homework searching for variety photos and descriptions before buying, to make sure I know what it's supposed to look like. I learned not to buy from sellers using wrong photos, listings with no photos, or photos from the Internet.

@grayturtleviolets this is why I appreciate your videos so much. I can see an actual plant color, size, shape, varigation etc rather than a picture of one bloom or just description. Thank you again.

The fantasy trait can be so fickle! I grew out 11 plants from 5 leaves of 'Funambule'. Only 4 bloomed true with fantasy flecks. The remaining 7 were a solid dark purple blooms, not a speck of fantasy. Your collection looks wonderful!

@@allthumbs3792 So true! One of my Funambule babies sported into pink! There are three Ma’s varieties, registered sports of Funambule, listed on AVSA Sports page, two of them are chimeras, super cool: africanvioletsocietyofamerica.org/participate/plant-registration/african-violet-sports/

My pretty purple and white NoID Violet has rebloomed solid purple twice now :( When I originally bought it there was a pink flower too, so I guess that was a sign it was reverting. At least I know now for the future to avoid plants like that. Thank-you for the information!

Oh my gosh, how much did I just learned! Now I know about waiting for a different cycle. I have 2 or 3 that have done that in my collection. Thanks so much!

What is the best place to purchase my first Violet?

My first was an Optimara NoID purchased at a local supermarket: th-cam.com/users/shortsK6p-V2v5FIo?si=nXg2OxlEwqvzPAWU. For additional places where I purchase mine, check out this video: th-cam.com/video/gP4Zr5MXmRI/w-d-xo.html
