It’s nice to see folks adopting the newer tech.
Plenty of other things I have planned! 😂
Thanks for the video Josh and was great to see the new parlour upgrade. I have only ever heard good things about these teat brushing/washing systems and all say they would never go back to hand wiping. I can go back to the days when we wet washed and I used to have more hacks than skin on my hands! That's going to take a lot of loads to clear the slurry lagoon, but will make a big difference come winter. Thanks.
The slurry put job will be a big one to get it emptied! 😅
Great video ,loved seeing the cows being milked ❤
Thanks Sara!
Well done Josh, looked like you were having fun with the new toy haha
Loving life! Need to trim the tails now!
Modern parlour with no cluster removers cant believe that Josh .
@@richardleigh1762 a lot of these Waikato parlours would be the same 👍🏼
Cracking video as always josh do you like your new toy great drone footage 👍👍👍
Thanks Sandy! Yeah love it !
Great video josh, a good job with the new teat brush, roll on 20,000 subs 👍
Bring it on!
Another's great video josh my experience with a teat brush is always keeping cows tails trimmed because if your not careful it can get jammed in the brush
I’ve snagged a couple already! Need to get them trimmed really!
We used 1 great for keeping cows teats clean but couldn’t seem to get the health benefits we needed to get had to park it up unfortunately. Would recommend to hold it further up the handle as it’s easier on your arms by the end of milking
Ah right! Mainly the bactoscan here over the winter. It dropped a couple of points in the first collection since using it. Yes I noticed holding it above the button is more comfortable
Enjoyable vid as always Josh, good to see some newer tech in the parlour, next will be ACR in the parlour mate, and are you still racing Crawford to 20k, I don't follow his channel anymore so don't know what his subs are upto.
I think Crawford has won that race! 😅
Great new toy for you to use. Hope it works for the herd.
I can see a big full udder and trimmed tails would help the use of it.😊
Are the cows ankle bracelets doing a similar job to the collars ?
It works really well! Looking forward to getting stuck into the tails! Yes they are essentially a pedometer and monitor bulling
Good video Josh you still sound a bit under the weather do you not have cluster removers they're great for someone like me thats not got much experience milking PS that lagoon is just massive 🙂
No cluster removers here! Maybe one day! Yes the lagoon is huge!
Looks like a shoulder wrecker
Gotta be clever about how you hold it
Great video Josh 🐄 Can you get kicked from the side - you said you were safe washing from the back
Cows kick their legs out to the side generally so as long as you are between their legs and the bar is between me and them I think I’m safe ☺️
Another great video Josh nice to see the dairy man milking That brush is some job i did see it on Tom perembelton in his new parlour he reckoned it saved a lot of time once his cows got used to it and that took a few milking's You're cow's weren't half as giddy as Tom's you made it look easy just wondering do you still have to use dip after milking
Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
We spray after milking with iodine still. The brush is brilliant but for this time of year a bit slow with one person in the parlour. Will be fine in the winter when cows are peak milk
@@JMFarming 👍
Brilliant video Josh 👍🏻
Thanking you!
Hello. I know its early days but have you seen a improvement in bactoscon.
Very slightly. First pickup after brush installed was 19. Normally 22-25
What I can see josh all that pipe work in the middle of the pit all needs lifting up about couple of ft out of the way . Wouldn't be a big job .make your life comfortable. Especially if your doing all the milking. Because your be doing no milking if you knock your self out 😊
Perhaps I’ll shrink one day!
that's true you can't fix it to the wall cause you need to move from one end to the other with the brush
I may have missed this but do you block calve the herd how many over how long. Only ever worked with yr round calving.
Yep 350 autumn calving cows. End of August until end of November/December
You just need collars for them now then happy days
Would love sense hub but the ice cube system is already installed
@@JMFarming inter heard for your set up would be good just tell the boss u want your own system in at the end of the day you’re the head man you do things you’re way or they find someone else that’s the way you need to work with farmers or they think you are a robot
Great stuff! What are on the cows legs?
Ice cube monitor system. It’s the activity monitors for the cows
I've never seen them on the legs, we use either a tag or collar.
@@davidmuldoon128 my personal choice would be the sense hub collar, but it’s horses for courses
What do they do with the sand from the slurry pit? Do you spread it on the fields?
Yep! We spread some on grass here last week, most of what’s left will be taken away to arable ground in the autumn
Comment for engagement
First
I did releaf milking at w ends modern farm ie tractors and machinery no auto cluster removal pain went to an old farm very old machinery old worn out tractors no tely handeller but the had automatic cluster removal john
@@johndaniell887 it’s odd isn’t it what people prioritise!
Tried one, found them fragile and prone to breaking. Brushes don't last very long, and no improvement in bactoscan figures.
Hmm. Thank you for the feedback 👍🏼
yes I'm 65 ang I think the brush to heavy for me why can't they make them lighter
@@johndaniell887 so apparently they are made as light as they can get them at the moment without them costing the earth. They got to be strong as they get kicked all the time too I suppose
