Never in a million years I thought I would say this but… John Cena’s acting seriously impressed me in this scene… I truly felt such sympathy for his character. James Gunn did such a phenomenal job with this show

this scene was so emotional cause it was relatable to some people , i mean how many did the same thing , got high as a kite or drunk as shit and suddenly listen to a song that put them on memory lane remembering every bad choice,every fuck up they did along the way forcing them to dance while mourning their past , it a great scene indeed
With no dialogue this gave so much characterization to peacemaker. John cena proved he’s a damn good actor
And James Gunn doesn't have much to prove, but this just reaffirmed he's a genius

This got me drinkin and in tears. My best friend/brother past away in 2018. I found out at his funeral that he had listed me as his emergency contact and not his mom. I remember the September he called me and I ignored the phone call thinking it was nothing important. Leading up to his death, we exchanged text messages and thats it. April 13th came and he was gone. People told me at the funeral not to feel blame or guilt. But you have no idea. I broke down completely during his cousin's eulogy. I felt like I betrayed and gave up on my friend and I was the one who could have helped bu t didn't. RIP Jerry. We'll be skateboardin in Heaven together real real soon buddy. Miss you everyday.

I wish I could tell cena how much this scene means to me. Just like peacemaker, my ptsd stems from a father almost as bad as his. (Was being beaten starting at 8 years old till I was 18 , and was told I’m was a waste of life on the daily, and a mother who protected him by living in denial)….so ya like peacemaker I’m fucked up too. And this scene just make me live that pain that they are trying to portray. I can safely say they did An amazing job portraying a man in pain from his child hood. Ya..this scene puts me to tears

I had a Dad and a Mum ... but my Dad was so ignorant of us kids .... just did his job and loved his music ..... he never really spoke to me heart to heart.... just always had a wall of toughness. I remember having some real problems in High School and just bottling it all up because Dad did and I could not show him I was weak. As a result I am messed up emotionally - do occasionally turn to drugs to help numb the pain of it all.
I really want to speak to Dad heart to heart just once in my life.
My whole childhood is a blur because my dad was drunk from the time he woke up til he passed out at nite, He died at the age of 44, on June 11th, 1994, the day I turned 18, it kills me every time I go to the cemetery and see my birthday on his headstone, I know exactly what you went through, 😢

With no words, a well chosen song, and a surprisingly phenomenal actor in John Cena, James Gunn nailed...exactly This Emotion, whatever it is. I can't call it just sadness, or grief, or loneliness, or pain - it's some horrible artisanal blend of all of them and others, but I've felt it many times in my adult life. Usually at 1AM after having had more than a few.
This scene right here is when it totally won me over. The acting, the music choice, the writing. This was the moment they all made a life fan out of me. Shout out John cena. May no know ever doubt his acting chops

It's crazy how one scene/song combo can pull different memories from different people in the same impactful way. My dad wasn't abusive, he just wasn't around. And now being a dad myself in a long distance relationship I fear the parallels my childhood could share with my son's. This scene hits home for so many different people and that's the sign of good storytelling. Bravo 👏
It sucks that we're so PC now that people can't accept a storyline where a white supremacist makes his kids fight in a pit. Or even then, because the abusive father was over the top, forced the winner to kill witnesses. I think the whole story is super duper PC. But apparently, some sheeple are too blind to see it the same way. It involves white supremacy(even I'm a bad way) so let's move on to Jordan Peele's next white trashing movie. Nope

Honestly had never heard the original version until this scene, only ever heard The White Buffalo (artist behind sons of anarchy stuff) cover version. Both are absolutely amazing, Gunn has one epic taste in music, I’ll give him that. Highly recommend that cover too.
