I could listen to Neal talk for hours.... what a fantastic gift of speech and rich voice.... super smart guy what a tragic loss he will forever be missed
I was on a computer at the library the day I learned he had passed. I saw the ‘Remembering Neil Peart…’ headline and couldn’t believe what I had just looked at. I felt my whole body just kinda sink. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever forget that day. Today I was talking to a lady I met at work. She’s our librarian at the facility, and we started talking about Rush. She said she cried for days after Neil had died. It must be so touching to imagine that you can have such an impact on people you’ve never met in your life. And that goes for Alex and Geddy too. It must be what greatness is. Neil, you will always be missed and loved.

Oh wow this video is suddenly blowing up. Just wanted to say thanks for checking out my video. I really hate the fact that I had to make it but I just remembered seeing so many clips of the band growing up and Neil doing some goofy things so I just wanted to share them for anyone who hasn't seen them.
I think it was beautiful how, toward the end of his public appearances, he started doing more interviews and appearances and the end of the R40 tour and stuff. He wanted to go out with a lot of material to leave for us, his fans.
Enjoyed every second of this tribute. Well done. As a lifelong fan, I already miss that I'll never get to see them play together again. As Geddy says, thank you for 40 awesome years. What more could we ask for? You've changed our lives, boys, and it's all for the better. The most well-oiled machine rock has ever known.

I was heartbroken learning of his passing and still am heartbroken. But this made me happy and brought a smile to my face thank you Neil, Geddy and Alex. So many memories you guys were the soundtrack of my growing up. I would walk the streets late at night with my Walkman and your music playing.
RIP, Neil Peart! I remember buying the "Fly by Night" 8-track in 1975! I was instantly blown away by this new, 22-year-old drummer! Neil was a true genius! To imagine the amount of grief he went through when he lost his daughter and wife within a year is heartbreaking! He hopped on his motorcycle and began his healing process. 58,000 miles later, he was ready to get behind his kit once again. Neil was a selfless gift to all of us for so long. Thank you God!
Speaking for anyone who has ever heard Neil play...I think it's fair to say... No words can describe how our lives were shaped and influenced by this one man , who by shear determination and undying dedication of percussion domination, Neil took us all on a percussive journey beyond anyone's wildest dreams. Thank you Neil and thank you Geddy and Alex for your ability to give us a voice of Hope and a way to drive beyond the guilded cage....aye'
Every once and while you find these videos of Neil Peart and they just remind us of how great he truly was as a musician, percussionist and an amazing human being. He is missed, but the art and memories he created will live on.
Even after all this time I still get teary eyed knowing that such beautiful music and insightful poetry will never be written ever again but I am grateful to have been along for the ride..

Only thing you missed was that interview where Geddy and Alex describe auditioning Neil in 74--how they looked at each other and said, "Who is this lunatic? We want him!", right there, within the first two minutes. The first time I saw them was two years later, on December 16, 1976, at Chicago's acoustically perfect Auditorium Theater, on their first tour as the headliner. While I've seen them many times since, that show--every song--has stayed with me to this day. When I finally made it home that night, I was so blown away, so high from the experience that I floated for days and days with a silly smile on my face...
Great tribute! For all of us who never met him, I thoroughly enjoy his books. His personality, his "voice," is right there for the reader. It's a way to get to know him, at least a little.
Great compilation. Thanks for putting it together. The first time I saw Rush play, Neil hit one of those little cymbals, like the one at 12:26, (I don't remember the song, it was on the New World Tour in 1983) with a good deal more energy than you see at 12:26, and it flew off the kit toward the Geddy side like a little frisbee. Also - regarding Neil's comment about Bob Dylan's quote and the goal of the artist being to inspire....mission accomplished, Neil. Mission accomplished.
Rush will live for ever in our hearts and minds. Neil Peart was the straw that stirred the drink, what a generational talent. He will be sorely missed...
BAJARACER43X it was my very concert as well but Max Webster opened up for them when I saw them in March of 1981. Saw them 11 more times after that, twice up close! Phenomenal band and was my favorite band ever from 1978 to this very day.
My first time was in Edinburgh during the Moving Pictures tour 81. Always been my favourite Rush album since it came out, and also the best produced LP I’ve ever heard. LoveTerry Brown’s production on those studio albums.
Excellent and moving tribute to the Master. Interesting to see the sides of Neil that were the most memorable to you and the rest of true followers of NP. Very complex man and likely the deepest, most philosophical and most intelligent percussionist to ever hold a stick. One can hardly minimize Neil, by remembering him as simply a great drummer. Thank you for sharing.
How is it possible to not love this band? They love each other. Nothing else really matters. They did it for 40 years. No compromises. They did it their way. Like Freddy and Bonham, Neil cannot be replaced so we'll all just have to thank our own creator we got the chance to share time and space with him.
Neil has been gone for just over a year now and he is still sadly missed. Thanks for endless supply of amazing music and for the absolute killer live performances. -= RIP Professor =-
Never thought I was a huge Rush fan, but I love and remember almost every song, I know where I was when listening to most of their songs. It started when I was 13, and kept going and going, and now I’m 54 and love their music just as much and now realize how big a part of my life they’ve been. I can’t really think of any other band that’s higher up on my list.
Every time I think of Neil my mind just goes back to when I was cleaning out storage in my dads house and found a drumstick with Neil’s signature on it in between a mattress and an empty cardboard box, absolutely no clue how it got there.
the one thing I loved about all 3 of them, they all had such great chemistry and friendship and great senses of humor, while all 3 of them took their craft and their music seriously, they didn't take themselves seriously.

Oh man....I haven't even thought about it for years. See that guitar Neil is playing @1:00? that's Alex's Howard Roberts Fusion. I installed that chrome plate between the bridge and tailpiece in the 90s. Just a cover-up of a route for when Alex had a Kahler bridge installed in that guitar.

They had a good run, maybe its time to hang it up.....
Those stupid Kahlers ruined so many good guitars. Gilmour's black Strat suffered the same fate in the 80s. I'm wondering if Alex played that Howard Roberts Fusion, the one he had in the 80s,when I saw him front row in '09?
Thank you for making this! I also liked the moment where Neil made some goofy faces shortly after the solo in “Freewill” during their Time Machine tour.
